    0:01 An Akita that has no friends
    0:28 meeting Prince and the "Circle of smells" begins.
    0:56 hackles up isn't always bad. Just means a dog is stimulated
    1:42 dog fireworks if you look closely you'll see the need for the muzzle people
    1:57 half assed attempts at saying go away Big pointy-eared dog
    2:01 Akita starts head banging to hair band music
    3:12 Joel is surprised sometimes when Prince listens to him
    3:45 Joel explains what Cesar didn't.
    3:51 energy is the absence of things. Be stoic. Be water. Be still.
    4:34 shameless plug
    4:55 All eyez on Joel. Contentious energy. Don't look at the 2pac of dogs.
    5:10 changing positions in case some ish pops off
    5:41 Prince shows he wants to be friends by bowing down. More talking about energy
    6:35 Prince prances around saying "look at me! I'm free you're not hairband dog"

      True, however a dog who can communicate to other dogs without biting them and leaving a bite mark is veeeery rare. I've never met a dog that doesn't go for it when a dog is pushing them. I think Prince is able to live his POTENTIAL because of his human. I believe a lot of dogs have a lot more potential than humans know about. Part of Prince's awesomeness is his breed. I am biased 😅 They're my favorite breed and one of the smartest breeds. But I believe that if more humans really understood dogs and were good, strong, balanced leaders for their dogs, we'd have more dogs like Prince. One of the things that made me realize just how much dogs understand, is the talking buttons. There are dogs on here who's humans run their channels and the dogs have very detailed conversations with their humans using the buttons. They put whole sentences together and carry on conversations. It's incredible.

      @whatsthekeytothekeykat 3 месяца назад +1

      @@OakwiseBecoming I grew up with akitas and many in my family did. They are also one of my favorite dogs and you are correct that they’re known for aggression and I too know very few others with akitas outside my own family members. I think it does come around to that most people that seek an akita are a niche of dog owners up to the task of owning a very powerful, dominant breed, that is also known for being very exclusive with who they like in their circle. And while akita people LOVE them, you won’t find them recommending the breed to just anyone either. Like a golden or lab. As for the positive traits of the dog, when raised and trained right, these dogs are very intuitive and noble, silent but extremely observant, they tend to bond to their household and are inherently a protective dog. They don’t need a lot of heavy exercise, not very barky, the standard coat is very low maintenance aside from shedding, some do get along very well with other dogs and enjoy companionship, and they look like big fluffy bear dogs lol
      As for the cons: extremely high prey drive, headstrong, needs balanced and confident leadership, and the shedding is insanely bad, next level shit. I’ve owned many different dogs, none have shed as bad as the akitas lol

    When Cesar talks about energy, it is what you are mentioning - whether you are just being calm, relaxed butc also assertive, that's an energy; if you're being nervous, excited or worried, that's an energy; and if you're frightened or timix, that's an energy. That's what Cesar talks about and how the dogs can pick up and respond to all those types of energies.

I recently adopted an American Bully mix who turns out is not good with cats or any small animals. He tries to hunts moles, snakes, squirrel, etc. He also loves toys but, his play with them is like watching a killer whale play with a seal. It’s more murdering than play 😂. How would you go about dealing with a high prey drive?

    big fan here
    just a quick note: its not that you are energy and that makes the difference. everthing IS energy. when you are angry, you have angry energy, when kind, kind energy.
    what you are being with the dogs is presence. you are being present. being present with what is. being present and aware of whats going on. without judgments, assumptions, fear, agenda etc, just being present with the dogs and the environment. and in this place we step into our knowing (vs thinking) and we are more aware of whats really going on. and in this place we are more aware of the dogs' energy in that moment and their intentions etc
    animals communicate with each other mostly with energy, their energy expresses their emotional state, their intentions etc

Whines, jumps all over him/stands over him. I don't know what's going on, and he won't stop. I think it started when the other dog was feeling sick for a few days, but he's been better for a week now, and my other obsessed dog won't stop. Please help. Both are intact. • @GetFitwithDogs
    @GetFitwithDogs 5 месяцев назад +31

    Weird timing - I just posted an Akita video and I talked about energy.
    TBH, I think I can describe it better that it was in this video:
    Energy is essentially your nonverbal communication to the world. Your aura. It's the message you're sending out.
    The animal kingdom communicates this way. Wolves can't speak to bears. Bears can't speak to Wolverines. Wolverines can't speak to a fox. None of these animals can speak to an Elk, or a deer. A lion can't speak to a Hyena, or a cheetah. BUT... they still communicate. You'll see videos of a hyena laying down and relaxing near a pride of lions. You'll see videos of wolves chilling near a herd of calm Elk. How? Why aren't they all running?
    They're reading the state of mind of those animals, and they understand that - in that moment - they do not intend harm. They're not being aggressive. They're not hunting.
    This is the energy they're putting out, and other animals are reading it and responding accordingly, otherwise if it was just "I'm a prey animal, there's a predator... I better run until I don't see them anymore!" they wouldn't be choosing to linger. They make a decision based upon the energy of the other animal.
    When Cesar speaks of your energy, and advocates for Calm/Assertive, he wants the human to send out an energy communication to the dog saying exactly that; "I'm calm, I'm no threat, but I am in charge and I control this situation." Dogs can relax and follow when they believe you're in charge and you're calm. There's nothing to fear, and nothing they need to do except follow. They understand this through the communication of energy.

    • @Deloco619

    • @infin8ee
      @infin8ee 5 месяцев назад +1

      Energy - intent . For example , relaxed - I mean no harm , chill or excitement - let's play, interact. We do it all the time when meeting people but it's not (or hasn't ) been a commonly spoken about exercise for people with dogs who are pets. That is changing and people want to learn and be aware of behaviour .

  • @ahappyguy7695
    @ahappyguy7695 4 месяца назад

    I live in Thailand and it would blow many people's minds to see dogs in packs in their natural behaviors. AGGRESSION is a normal canine behavior towards other dogs that are NOT in their pack. AGGRESSION is just a part of their everyday natural instinctual behavior in the WILD so it's something that we basically have to understand and train as an unacceptable behavior that is as normal as humans drinking water.

    My dog is a husky mix.
    She's good with my cats at home, if ever she chases them I stop her and she calms down and just hangs out with them.
    She is actually good on walks, so long as she doesn't see another animal or anticipates that she will find one.
    But once she's in that state of mind, I can't get her out of it. She'll pull like crazy and im not sure what her intent is with these cats, maybe she wants to catch them or she thinks of them as she thinks of dogs: best friends that she instantly needs to get to.

From what I've found online, it's a strategy to extend the spread of his scent. He's also obsessed with licking other dogs urine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Currently the only solution is to take him potty exclusively on leash.

    I want to apply your training to my dog, but i think the ship has sailed.
    First of all she's more like a cat, so does dog training even apply? 🤭
    She's super old, almost deaf, almost blind and very sweet and shy. Only trusts me and hides from others.
    Got her off the streets with a trap. She was out there for weeks, and nobody could get to her. Then, hot dogs and peanut butter lured her into the trap.
    We went to the dog park once. She sat next to me on the bench, looking down at those four-legged, silly peasants.
    I do apply your rules for scared dogs, like desensitization and pushing boundaries etc. She's fine with it all since I'm there.
    Nobody else can train her since nobody else in the house gives a rat's ass about her. 😢
    I tried your "come" method. She got more and more shy each time i put out my hand. I think an episode with her would be the shortest episode ever since you would cut out all the boring parts. 😂 However, life with her is pretty sweet. ❤

      @topcatwarrior couldn't agree more! She added nothing but joy to our life. Well, and a few carpet stains, but let's not talk about that.
      She has never been a troublemaker. When I introduced her to my senior cats years ago, the cats didn't even move from their seats. They knew she's not a threat.
      She never glanced at our chickens either. She really wanted to blend in, and she did.
      From time to time, her friend comes over. A toy poodle.
      She doesn't care about the friend. Neither does the friend care about her. They sit on the couch, ignoring each other. Kind of like british royalty. She really is a princess, but a very undemanding one.❤️

      You seem to need attention. Here you go. The concept that positive only is useful to all dogs is silly. And the problem with you types is that you villainize any training methods that aren't the same as yours, demonstrating a close-mindedness and hostility that turns people off. It really isn't sensible. Dogs don't teach each other through "positive only." Dominance and hierarchy are a fundamental part of canine psychology and instinct. To flatout deny the existence of them is counterintuitive to the dogs and their human companions. Correcting bad behavior isn't mean and won't hurt their feelings. It teaches and focuses them.
