We are taught from out very childhood to make a name in the world, to become famous, well-known, successful, a prime minister or a president, a Nobel prize winner - but somebody special, somebody. Every child is poisoned with the idea of being somebody, and the reality is we are all nobodies. And the reality is tremendously beautiful! Just being nobody brings such joy and ecstasy that one cannot even imagine it. Fame brings nothing. It is a very stupid game, very childish and immature. My definition of real achievement is that which cannot be taken away by death. Anything that can be taken away by death is not a real achievement but only a pseudo achievement, toys to play with. Become a nobody from this moment and enjoy the freedom that it brings. Become anonymous and see the joy! There is no worry, no anxiety. Because there is no ego you don't feel hurt. Nothing can hurt you. Somebody can insult you and you can stand there watching and enjoying it because there is nobody inside you to feel hurt, there is nobody to be wounded. You can enjoy and laugh. The day a man can enjoy and laugh while he is being insulted he has already attained something, he has become part of eternity. He has entered into the world of the immortals. Osho

The sooner you can eliminate credit card debt in general, the better off you’ll be. Use Debit cards instead. It is the EXACT same protections as credit cards now, so there is no reason not to. Also when relying on debit cards, you will be much more disciplined on spending as credit cards make it easy to go on spending sprees in comparison.
@@someoneelse6934 this is incorrect, debit cards do NOT have the same protections. If you need to dispute charges on a debit card due to stolen account information, you DONT have the money while the dispute is going on. On a credit card, you dont pay interest during the dispute, and you still have all the money in your bank account. When traveling, you NEED a credit card for protection. It is not being more disciplined if you are using a debit card to stop over spending. That's a lack of discipline.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but another part of the "tobacco_settlement" he didn't speak on was states being allowed to "reallocate" funds to other, non-related programs. Federal and state governments for decades have_stolen, I mean "realocated" funds to unrelated social programs. For example, infrastructure monies meant for roads and bridges, our Social_Security_trust_fund, etc.

I worked for one branch of the federal government and I affirm the table conversation to also be bullseye accurate. I was a hard worker, took my job seriously really wanting to make a good impression when I first got the job. Same thing happened to me, I handed my work in to my supervisor at the end of the week and proceeded to tell me he needs to talk to me with this look on his face like he was unhappy with my work. He then told me I had to stop doing all this work, slow down, you're making the reat of us look bad. So what I completed in that week, got spread over a month. One week's work for a month's pay. Crazy. There was a big ick factor to that. Also, the per diem story, bullseye accurate, as well. I was told the same. So much waste of the hardworking taxpayer's money. But, it will never change. As an Air Force veteran, I experienced the “Use it or lose it” method of budgeting. On one hand, we could not order parts to maintain equipment but, on the other hand, there was always excess money available for facility improvements. At one point, I was told to order new wallpaper for our office 5 years in a row (otherwise we’d lose the money next year). I asked why we couldn’t take the money earmarked for facility improvements and use it for ordering equipment parts. I was told, nope, can’t do it because it’s from different budgeting “baskets”.
It's the same in private corporations. I just blew $10000 on travel reservations because we needed to spend the money in Q2 or lose it forever. If I had told them that the travel is not really needed but I would appreciate a $5000 bonus instead of spending the $10000 it would have been impossible.
It's the same with our city govt. They are about to rip up many yards and block local roads, and make a lot of noise for a long time, to build new, ugly modern bridges that will replace the beautiful, old bridges with character that we love. They admit the current bridges are in fine condition, but say if they don't spend the money, it will have to be returned and they won't get it back. This is so twisted.

It's not so much the taxes as much as where the taxes are truly going. I'll give you a hint. Most of it is not ending up in the pockets of illegals and people to buy food stamps. The one tax you should support is a wealth tax on assets owned over a certain amount. Too big of a topic to discuss with people who just complain without much substance like you did.
Two words: TERM LIMITS. If Politicians had to go back to living in the same country that they helped Govern, it would solve 99% of the problems in this country.
States are responsible for their representatives and any term limits for them. What ends up happening is that term limits would end up hurting your representatives compared to representatives without term limits. It would take a constitutional amendment to change. I don’t see support to make that happen.
I agree. But you must not have watched the part of the video where he explains that there is a shadow government that makes term limits less effective.
We have gotten very far away from the original intent of our founding fathers when they designed the constitution. It was never intended for elected Representatives or Senators to make life-long careers out of. The intent was for farmers, lawyers, tradesmen, etc., to temporarily leave their careers in order to serve the public by writing laws that benefit the public from the public's point of view, and then return to their careers and live under the laws they created. They specifically intended it this way so that there would not be a stratification of classes where there would be a "ruling class" and "plebeian" one. Additionally, they constructed the government such that actually passing a law required a serious bit of thought, with several checks and balances along the process, in order to insure that what was being passed was truly desired by the majority of people. (Voting constituents.) So I very much agree with you. Sadly, we have gotten so very far away from our founder's original intent - we now pass laws by simple voice vote and "rubber stamp committees" and allow for elected officials to remain in office for their entire working careers. In my opinion, the best Congresses are the ones that do the least in terms of passing new laws as many that are passed are not needed. From campaign finance reform to implementing reasonable term-limits - we as American citizens have got to get our house in order.
They should not get full pay for the rest of their lives either. They get bribes, free trips, inside stock tips, the best insurance policies in existence and they write off car expenses, phones , their houses, utilities, clothing, dining, entertainment etc. Every person in government offices ends up being millionaires.

People need to keep in mind, the US has SO many issues, but the fact that we can make an hour long video in the capital calling out and explaining its corruption is a freedom many people on this earth don’t have. I’m not backing this government, I can’t stand it. Everything about this video makes me so damn upset it’s honestly hard to finish. But if change ever will happen, it comes through things like this. More people waking up to the fact that “no, the government does not like you. It doesn’t have your back. In all cases it flat out hates you”. I’m just grateful for one thing and that being our freedom to discuss it. Our freedom of speech. Another great video Peter
Having worked for the Federal government for decades, I believe one of the biggest problems is the inability to hire honest, hard working AND and experienced public servants/employees with the people of the world in their best interest, not themselves. America continues down a path of Me Me Me, including some people wanting higher offices. As a Federal Employee I always had the mission of the agency and the public as my number one priority. I certainly did not become rich as a Fed Employee nor was that ever my goal. Until people realize that life is not only about them but rather others and the planet we will continue to have problems.
Somewhat tangential but one of the nasty side effects of the individual above all else thing is it whittles everyone down to a single retail unit. A group of 'individuals' is the easiest to exploit in all kinds of ways. Much tougher to take on a unified populace that can set aside some differences they may have--teaming up works. The greatest power we have is our numbers.
as a federal contractor, it feels like there is a massive issue with political plays past a certain point of leadership in every single bureau and it really disgusts me that people care this much to result in the hindrance of things that do public good
Similar issue here in Australia, it's hard finding scrupulous people in these positions of power. The term "birds of a feather flock together" comes to mind...

I’ll share a personal account of how incredibly dysfunctional Federal employment is: I have a B.S. in Biology and in August 2008 applied for a position as an Agricultural Specialist in Orlando with Customs and Border Protection, under the umbrella of Department of Homeland Security. The next couple months, I went through an extensive application process and background check. In October 2008, I cleared all the hurdles and was sent an official offer letter, stating I would be assigned a training start date at the DC Academy in “two to three months.” Three months came and went, I heard nothing. I called the Federal hiring center in Minneapolis and inquired and was told “you’ll be assigned an Academy start date as soon there is a vacancy at the Orlando International Airport.” They had no idea when that would be and could offer no further info. Six months went by and I heard nothing and called again and was told the same thing. One year went by and I called and was told the same. At this point, I took it upon myself to call the CBP Chief in Orlando and he told me they had no vacancies in the foreseeable future and had no clue why they posted a position for Orlando. After *2 YEARS* of waiting and seeing NO progress, I applied for grad school at UNLV and was accepted and began classes Fall 2011. In September 2012, out of the blue, I received a call from the CBP Chief in San Diego to start as a Customs OFFICER and report to the Academy in a month. I told the Chief I never applied for that position or location. *I should note, I’m color blind and this was noted by the Physician during my 2008 physical, and was told I was not eligible for Federal law enforcement positions such as a CBP Officer or Border Patrol Agent, but an Agricultural Specialist was not considered law enforcement, so I’d be ok.* I informed the San Diego CBP Chief this but he said “Don’t worry about that, it’s not listed on your file.” I declined the offer and informed the Chief I had just started my 2nd year of grad school, so they could offer the position to the next person in line. This experience showed me how *ABSOLUTELY DYSFUNCTIONAL* the Federal Government is!!! 😡
They wanted you for San Ysidro, the world's busiest land border port of entry. My late father retired from military, did GI Bill college for a forensics degree. US Customs hired him, and it was a position that Congress only funded for 18 months. So, the INS side of the port gave him their white shirt, and they had zillions of dollars for overtime. We had never seen paychecks like that before, but it is blood money, double shifts, etc. After a year arresting people, etc. Somebody figured out my father had never gone to the federal academy for the job he was doing every day! So they sent him to a 3 month academy where he knew more than his instructors. You did well avoiding a career at San Ysidro. The morale was bad, emps filed EEO complaints on each other, and the volume of arrests was astronomical. You catch every flu or bug known to nature, and the vehicle fumes will shorten your lifespan. Peter. I’m a fan of your channel and understand you wanting to give disclaimers and let the audience k ow what they need to know, but in this case. This guy has a lot to share and I was absolutely locked in. Thank you for letting him speak. Absolutely want more videos with him.
Peter, I couldn't agree more with what you guys said abt critical thinking. - I home schooled all of my kids, and 3 things we focused on heavily were critical thinking skills, The Scientific Method & and the Socratic Method. You'd be very hard-pressed to find those 3 things taught in any public school in America.
Same here. We focused on applying basic principles to all subjects. Age-appropriate Critical Thinking was integrated into every class, every day, even art and music. Their favorite elective was Logical Fallacies and we made a family game of noticing them in advertising, speeches, etc. Nerdy fun that has been a huge help to them at university, in business, and as responsible citizens.

OUTSTANDING and REALLY GLAD you are covering this topic. This is what caused my family to leave our careers in 2013 and move to the country to start a 1200 regenerative agriculture operation- focusing on supporting the local level and creating resilience in the community due to the issues we saw coming as a result of what was going on in DC…. At the time people wouldn’t talk about what you are covering now. Keep up the great work!!!!!
I am employed as a county elections official in Oregon and I was nodding along at nearly every point made during the video. I personally attest that you can change the name on your elected official's office door and it does not mean a thing. I have seen immoral, unethical, and illegal acts from the county all the way up to the Secretary of State. These acts and patterns of behavior are committed by people who span the entire political spectrum; who are incompetent, corrupt, or have a 'mother knows best' attitude - or some combination thereof. Internally, they are very derisive of voters. You, the voter, are the obstacle. You, the voter, get in the way of the process. Long gone are the days when the process existed as the means to serving the voter. It is perverse that the voter - the private citizen - is the means to the process. *Until we destroy the unaccountable, bureaucratic state, we will never recover as a people and a nation. Recovery may only occur where there is accountability.* May I never live to see myself become one of the bureaucrats...

Was a contract specialist (buyer) in the AF for 8 years. The budget thing the lady said is true. Towards the end of the fiscal year every department will inundate the purchase office with tons of requirements for things they don't need in order to keep their budget for the next year. We had warehouses full of equipment that was never used and couldn't be used cus stuff would age out and it just kept piling up. Multiply that out for every military base ever and thats just DoD. They constantly preached at us to be good shepherds of taxpayer money but it's all wasteful bs........especially when those preaching "lose" billions every year.

"I erroneously omitted that I was employed by the NIAID branch of the NIH, whose specialized focus was allergens and infectious disease research. NIH is made up of over two dozen institutes and Dr. Fauci was director of the specific institute that I worked for, not overarching umbrella of NIH. That said, it was not an internship as a few concluded, but a GS ranked job as a grants management specialist with accruals/benefits that would have extended if I had chosen to remain. When speaking later I mention a separate internship the context of which didn't make the cut due to video editing needs."

@@someoneelse6934horrible advice lol
Don't you mean..... TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS.?
Your signature "created" the credit, so why are you "paying it back"?
@@someoneelse6934 this is incorrect, debit cards do NOT have the same protections. If you need to dispute charges on a debit card due to stolen account information, you DONT have the money while the dispute is going on.

(Voting constituents.)
So I very much agree with you.

Just don't critique our greatest Allie in the middle east and you'll be fine👍
Agreed. You couldn't do this in certain other countries BIG TIME.

Agree and well said....it's going to get worse before it gets better.
It's only going to get worse...

I’ll share a personal account of how incredibly dysfunctional Federal employment is:
I have a B.S. in Biology and in August 2008 applied for a position as an Agricultural Specialist in Orlando with Customs and Border Protection, under the umbrella of Department of Homeland Security.
*I should note, I’m color blind and this was noted by the Physician during my 2008 physical, and was told I was not eligible for Federal law enforcement positions such as a CBP Officer or Border Patrol Agent, but an Agricultural Specialist was not considered law enforcement, so I’d be ok.* I informed the San Diego CBP Chief this but he said “Don’t worry about that, it’s not listed on your file.”
I declined the offer and informed the Chief I had just started my 2nd year of grad school, so they could offer the position to the next person in line.
Every month, seemed an agent was arrested for corruption. Tough job.

@@shirleykurtz Look into all your candidates. Not just for big elections like presidential, general, and midterms. Also look at local politicians, like mayor, governor, state legislators, etc. Find real, factual, verifiable sources. Pretty much all mainstream media, on both sides (yes Fox and Cnn) are owned by a corporation or a billionaire, and are managed by rich executives with their own goals and interests. They will warp stories to manipulate us to vote the way they want us to. GroundNews is a great website that shows both sides of a particular topic. It gives sources for both sides, rates their factuality, and highlights "blind spots" that neither side is covering. Usually the blind spots have to deal with topics that these corporations and billionaires don't want us to know about, so neither side of the media talks about it.

He seems cool until you look beyond the surface of what you see in this video and examine what he actually does for a living (as opposed to what he says he does). For example, Ben played an instrumental role in opening the floodgates of corruption in American elections through his role in Citizens United. You can think him for the fact that mega corporations can spend unlimited sums to influence elections in the US without even having to disclose their participation. So ironic for him to be making these videos about corruption. That's not to say he doesn't make some good points in this video... But in my eyes, a mega-hypocrit
