  • Our Top 10 Sativa Cannabis Plants.
If you are looking for a cerebral and euphoric high, then you want to concentrate on sativa strains of cannabis plants. These are probably the most cross-bred strains of cannabis, owing to the fact that the consequences of smoking it aren’t a lounge-lizard body stone and instead, a more a cerebral uplifting.
Basically, if you still want to be able to function like a relatively normal human being after having a good smoke, then you are best to explore our list of what we consider to be best ten sativa cannabis strains.
Dr Grinspoon kicks things off at number 10, and we wonder if he is a relative of Dr Seuss or Dr Dolittle. The names of some strains continue to boggle our mind!
This is a pure, 100% sativa which takes its name from a professor at Harvard University Because, apparently, a few tokes of this stuff and you’ll get a heightened cerebral sensation and it will make you feel hyper intelligent.
Note that we say ‘feel’, it doesn’t make you any more intelligent or stupid than you already are!
This is perhaps a plant for the purist, as it is not easy to grow and don’t expect any flowering before 13 to 14 weeks.
Here at number 9 we have Neville’s Haze, a nearly 100% pure sativa strain and a cross between Northern Lights and Haze, yielding roughly 22% THC levels.
Expect ultra-fruity flavours and aromas, followed by a social, happy high.
They say that patience is a virtue, and you’ll need plenty of it here as flowering usually takes up to 16 weeks!
    At number 8, Chocolope.
Now there’s a name for you - one which conjures up images of an antelope made of chocolate - we guess it’s something different from a chocolate bunny.
Actually, this cannabis gets its name from being a cross of Chocolate Thai, a 1980’s favourite, and Cannalope Haze.
What’s wrong with the alternative name we have to ask. Thai Haze anyone?
This cultivar boasts an irresistibly smoky, chocolatey, coffee-tinged aroma that gives way to a euphoric and happy high that will boost your mind while satisfying your sweet tooth.
And the best news of all, while sativa strains are notoriously slow in flowering, expect Chocolope to bloom after just eight weeks.
Coming in at number 7, Utopia Haze sounds a bit more self-explanatory, and it doesn’t disappoint.
One good toke you are likely to experience an unforgettable, hard-hitting and long-lasting cerebral high that will leave you feeling as though you are in paradise.
Expect a fruity and minty flavour coming from an abundance of terpenes. Unsurprising when you consider that when ready to harvest after ten weeks, the buds are enveloped in wonderfully sticky resin.
Kali Mist join us at number 6, best described as a unique bastard, as nobody knows either of this strain’s ‘parents’.
What they do know is that this is a very robust sativa, renowned for its stress relieving qualities.
It is also a great smoke for the daytime as the high will still leave you with a clear head and the ability to still focus, feeling energized and productive.
Though flowering can take up to 13 weeks, the wait will be well worth your while with greater-than-expected yields.
Durban, unsurprisingly, hails from South Africa and joins our list at number 5, easily recognized through its woody and liquorice-scented head stash high.
The plant’s don’t grow overly tall and you can expect them to flower after roughly eight weeks.
This current batch of sativas reads more like a geography lesson than a guide to the best cannabis plants around.
Next on the ‘map’ we have Jamaica, situated at number 4, which, surprise surprise, comes from the Caribbean island of the same name.
While we’re in this area of the globe, we don’t have far to travel for the next cannabis destination, Panama, home to the canal, the hat, and some damned fine cannabis that goes by the name of Panama Haze, now made famous by featuring at number 3 on our list.
This is the ‘offspring’ of Purple Haze, Green Haze, and F10 Panama and a potent hash, reaching THC levels as high as 23%.
We’re now in Mexico, or Tijuana to be precise. Number 2.
Tijuana is popular with creative types as it doesn’t send you to sleep, despite the very potent and invigorating high. Followed by a deliciously spicy taste.
Where growing is concerned, outdoors they will grow to quite some height, and you can expect flowering after ten to 12 weeks.
Finally- topping our list at number 1, it is of course Serious Six, presumably the prequel to the Magnificent Seven!
This is a landrace of undefined Canadian genetics crossed with an African Landrace.
Expect a sweet, citrus and floral aroma, with a hint of spice when you break down the nugs.
As for the high, well that’s a bit special. You’ll get a warming, clear-headed cerebral buzz that both melts stress while sparking creativity.
This is really a plant for experienced growers, preferring an outdoor environment and requiring skilled cropping.

@@dannymack1196 it doesn't always work that way. If it is an f1/s1/r1 it is going to show a wide variation in mixtures. Some will come out more sativa, some more imdica, some even mixes etc. It depends on what the breeder picks for further generations. Also, the breeder could very well have back crossed the F1 right back to the haze. Wish breeding was as simple as crossing two things and ending up with a bunch of homogenous and predictable results

Growing up we use to get Punto Rojo from Colombia, it was citrusy and pungent and every so often you'd get a pheno that smelled straight up of lemon ammonia cleaner. The high was euphoric and clear headed and you'd get a good case of the giggles. The bud itself was a dark lime green with fiery red hairs was very fluffy and had almost as much leaf as bud. It was the ONLY decent bud to be had in my area back in the day. Now a days you can't find it to save your life.

I've grown Sativa Star (supposedly a 100% sativa), AKA "Godzilla" twice now. First year, plant went into flower after 16 weeks, then, even w/ topping, grew over 9 ft tall and was in its 10th week of flower when we got our first freeze. Had to harvest early, but the flower was still delicious (just small and short lasting). It was an enormous harvest for a single plant. This year, I topped twice and got it to flower early. Just harvested. BIG FAT TALL colas, flavors of mango and lemon. Huge sativa buzz!

No they do not favor Indica so much , the sativa require 2-4 weeks more flowering time so it is quicker so yield vs time is money and Indica wins but quality is where the sativa strains win and a great daytime smoke it is .

Time is money , growers do not want sativa due to another extra 4 weeks or more to harvest .
Consumers suffer at the mercy of profit over quality and now being misinformed about cannabis as if flavor & taste is something needed but is used only to sell with using names like cream & cookies ect.
The mental physical effects mean everything not the name or taste & smell .
Bruce Banner was well named as it is strong in THC and hits ya hard .

In my teens when I started smoking, at 14 - I didn't care what strain it was, it got me stoned. When I was in my 20's, I was choosier and still didn't know what strain I was smoking because back then, you got it on the streets, not a dispensary. In my 30's and 40's, I had started to notice the difference in the head buzz as well as the body buzz and chose the strains that made me feel good, energetic and later found out those were sativa strains. In my 50's I dedicated myself to sativas with an occasional indica or hybrid. Now in my 60's, disabled and a medical marijuana patient, I prefer sativa strains or hybrids for the most part but do enjoy that late night indica to help me sleep. It's no longer a "habit" to smoke reefies... it has become a lifestyle after 46 years.

Most growers plant shorter Indica fast flowering strains when some of us prefer Sativa and 10 - 12 foot Sativa plants that are a problem and long time flowering 10-16 weeks hurts growers yields per time involved .
Sativa is hard too get for me and growers ignore most Sativa for good reasons.
The value of a energetic day time creative high is very high on my wish list .
The Kali Mist strain is number 1 on my list in value because of the uplifting energetic effects that gets you going during the day.

My understanding that I’ve gained from about a year and a half of growing is that the only real difference between sativa and Indica is morphological. Sativas can give you couch lock and Indicas can give an energetic, cerebral high. That has more to do with when it’s harvested. An early harvest will couch lock you, a harvest when all the trichomes are full and milky white will give you a more energetic head high and a later harvest will give a more mellow, chilled out high.

    • @DanielM1224
      @DanielM1224 Год назад +14

I thought it was the other way around with harvest time vs effect.

    • @psyience3213
      @psyience3213 Год назад +6

@@DanielM1224 no that later harvest, typically approx. 30% amber trichomes, will give you less thc and more cbn. The amber in the trichomes is the thc degrading into the cbn. The cbn is very calming and recommended for people who are prone to anxiety attacks or tend to “freak out”.
Early harvest is very much the opposite of that. Even I get anxiety from an early harvest bud when never before in my life otherwise 😂
That full, milky white with little to no amber gives the typically desired effect

what about power plant and pure power plant . that was brought to L.A in the late 80's from Africa its a pure sativa and its the one where the american agencies were fucking about with and made that G13 from u no the strain were u get no parania at all.. anyway the story goes they beefed it up and thats why you get pure power plant.. and thats when in the start of the 90's you started to get skunk that was power plant beefed up to make the pure power plant its a great sativa you should grow that im sure the seeds are cheap now plus ur better going old school seeds from the 90's cause all these new strains have been GMO'D and you just get mostly T.H.C but all the older strains you get full spectrum witch is well better for you i hate all these new cheesy names like marshmallow ice cream! and strawberry cookies its a scandel what all these suit n tie growers are doing to the market and to the strains.. real cannabis is for the people and now its all about money its out of order!! everyone should just grow their own and when they do they will make it illegal again when big co-op's cant make cash good luck im here in the UK and you dont get any sativa's growin here cause folks that grow just think about the cash and beastying the plants with chemicals disgrace.. iv not hade a good taste of a sativa in 12 years bro and i cant smoke indica makes me sleep to much and get anxiety.. i need a good sativa bro ... take my word for it about the old school sativa strains ur better growing them... and send sum over ...

I was given some bag seeds around 2006 that a friend said was called "wonderberry". I'm not sure that's what it was though and I can't really find any such strain name online. It had the biggest football shaped top colas for a 4 ft. plant I had ever grown. It was a very, very narrow-leafed sativa strain and the buds, although massive in girth were so very light and whispy compared to any others I had grown it was unreal, very powerful. It wasn't a fruity or gassy tasting variety but still nice, and it was a favorite of mine and my friends. Once dried the buds were huge but light as air. We joked about how when you smoked it you would forget what you came into the room for. I had to stop my indoor grow here in Ohio when I moved and I lost the strain but would love to find it again or something similar. Can any growers recommend any strains that sound like that?

    POT FARMER DANCE SONG $
I got out my pipe stuffed it with pot
You better believe it held a whole lot.
I whipped out a lighter thumbed up a flame
Sucked down that smoke which comforts my brain.
    I tried alcohol smoked cigarettes
They did nothing but give me regrets.
My mom had arthritis could not walk around
I rolled her a joint she danced on the ground.
I thought I was losing my lovemaking knack
After I smoked some to me it came back.
Soon I decided prices were high
I searched for some ground I wouldn't have to buy.
I bargained for seeds from smokers all around
Got in my truck and drove out of town.
I walked through the woods where wild birds nest
Found me the meadow I thought was the best.
I dug up the ground sowed all my seeds
Said a small prayer for strong, healthy weeds.
I watered at night with a five-gallon pail
Mosquitoes went hungry for I wore a veil.
Seven months went by; I thought I would die
Till the Halloween moon was high in the sky.
At night I went out, in a camouflage suit
Used my corn knife to chop down the loot.
I hung it up to dry where it couldn’t be found.
Came back and got it, when it had turned brown.
I trimmed off the buds, stuffed them in bags
Called all my friends and passed out free drags.
In less than a week my crop was gone
I flew to St. Thomas with a love hungry blonde!!

In my opinion the best haze's come from south east Asia brought back from Vietnam in the seventies strains like Chocolate Thai, Golden Temple Thai, Highland Thai which is the mainstay to strains like DJ shorts Blueberry, Temple Flo (Flo) , and many others it's gives these strains there spicey, earthy terpenes floral terps hence the name FLO.... As well as strains like Mekong Haze which are nearly impossible to get your hands on as well as strains like karala from India that are crazy on flowering times 22/26 weeks of flower😳 so they become extinct because of this long and hard process to flower these types hence the cross breeding in the 90s so some of these could be brought indoors and flowing was cut down with the crosses Afghani Purple, and several other middle eastern native 100% Indica strains to tame these sativa monsters 👍🏻
