    Nice informative video. I've been eyeballing the 239FS but due to keep costs slightly more affordable I may end up with the 219FS. Neither boat is cheap but I think Key West gets it right with how well these boats are built compared to other boats in their class.

      I agree most boat for the money and the 219FS is not much smaller than the 239 only at the aft end.

    Great review. I've have the Key West 186 Sportsman and love it. It's served my family well over the years but the family is growing and I would like a larger Key West, maybe the 219 or 239. You covered a lot of valuable information in a short period of time. Thanks.

      Glad you liked the Video, it really is a good boat for the price point i ran it hard and long days up to 60 miles out on calm ( and not so calm days ) and was very happy with the performance. I would say that anything less than 36 volt / 72 inch trolling motor out in the ocean is a waste of time for that boat though ( just my take on it ), as for the family when i did have the seats in up to six was comfortable for a day out, OEM says can carry eight but is tight. good luck and thanks for watching.

Crazy what they ask for new boats and that might lean me towards a like new used. Hey man. Awesome video! Could you make a video or just explain how you created the front fishing platform? That’s a great idea!

    • @the50somethings
      @the50somethings  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching, the fwd platform is made out of starboard, (3/4 inch) make a template out of cardboard you just take a large piece and then lay down underneath and draw out the shape, i used a router to cut mine out just outside the line previously marked so i could put a finished edge on it with a contoured router bit. the cut outs for the cushion snaps have to be eyeballed, as for the supports i used 12 inch long / 3/4 thick / 2in wide and drilled them into the underside of the platform so when it sets in it will not flex. as for securing to the boat I just used some rubber style hatch fasteners, so it looks ok in our out. go to my community tab and I will post some pics there.

    Nice boat Capt. I bought my 239FS this summer. I’d love to put a trolling motor on mine and keep the batteries inside the CC like you’ve done. Any suggestions for running those battery wires from the CC up to the bow anchor well?

    • @the50somethings
      @the50somethings  Год назад

      There should be a tag line in the CC from the bow and one from the stern that is how mine was fished. if not open your starboard forward fish / storage and there is a small gap between the top cap and the mid you can use a snake (toilet ) to run and line then just tie off leads and pull back through the hull do not forget to leave a tag line.

My 219 is heavy also because of all the Mod's and i always have at least 1/2 tank of gas when i start out so that I do not have to fill up in the Keys.

    How do you get 200 hp out of 150 Yamaha it's probably the same block four-cylinder and cubic inches are the same are there bolt on items like the fuel injection system because I have a 250 six cylinder and the 300 Yamaha is the same displacement I was just wondering what they do to get the horsepower up from 250 to 300 because there's a big price difference on the engine

      All depends on if you plan on going off shore, I think i mentioned in the video the only time i felt that i needed more power was coming in the inlet one time in some bad weather i was caught in 5plus waves, other than that i was more than happy with the Yamaha 150 i had on mine (specked out just under the 200hp) just a couple miles per hour slower on the water and lighter, cheaper, the only place was lacking was hole shot and tq in the bigger waves kind of depends on what kind of performance you want, i was in the ocean all the time had no complaints you can have all the power and tq in the world it still comes down to learning how to navigate your specific boat in all types of weather, short answer i made a lot of upgrades on my boat with that extra money.

    • @the50somethings
      @the50somethings  2 года назад +3

      Thanks Tim appreciate the comments :) and yes, the Key West has a cap and being a mid-tier boat in the forward fish/storage there is some open cavities. I do not use any saltwater mix with my ice, but I have heard of people adding salt water and it getting in the foam (bad smell also if that happens) I personally am very happy with the 219FS for function/cost have never felt nervous or had any problems with any equipment except for the raw water pump went out (my fault did not flush with fresh water after each use I do now). Thanks again I really enjoy putting out Video's even and hope get better in the future with both presentation and spelling.
