This track always hits me hard. As my sons name was Johnny and he departed from a self inflicted gun shot. I couldn’t listen to this track for years…. Better now…. Still makes me feel a certain way…
I am so sorry for your loss, and the grief that I personally know follows an exit such as his. My hope is that he has found peace, and that you will also as the years pass...and hopefully there will be a reunion for us all with our loved ones on that leg of our next journey. Remember the good times....let the bad memories go. God bless you & yours
@@cindiaker5778 🙏🙏🙏 Sounds like you have been through that yourself. Wishing you peace. ✌️Something that you can never forget. But time helps heal in away that it isn’t every other thought….
Paul Rodgers had such a distinctive tone...this song captured an entire segment of musicians during the 60's & 70's...and we accepted it as part of that explosion of culture, good & terrible. But it's really an old story thru out history...the wrong adaptive response to life's s#it cause you just don't know any better...and feeling lucky.
I love Bad Co but love Paul Rodgers even more with his previous band, Free. More bluesy, gritty and rough. He is one of the best blues-rock singers ever, and he still sounds great! Check out "Wishing Well" and " Fire And Water" if you like it bluesy!
Wow! Your theory of a musician/singer sending their energy out and receiving energy back from the audience, and how that exchange might transform a person is fascinating.
That's why Paul sang that Johnny was a "Shooting Star" because a shooting star is so beautiful lighting up the sky but it's gone within seconds from our sight , just like Johnny
Thank you for watching bands and singers who are not the usual "reactor videos". Bad Company was a great band. As a teenage girl, I loved listening to them.
My favorite bad company song, probably on the short list of greatest rock song ever......think about the shooting stars we lost in thier prime..Janis, Jimi, etc.....
Your first Paul Rogers I think. One of the best voices in rock in Free, Bad Co., a long solo career, even toured with Queen to sing the Freddie Mercury vocals.
A great song with a cautionary tale. Be careful of what can happen when you want fame, fortune, and to live life hot and fast. A similar song is Tom Petty's "Into the Great Wide Open", which I highly recommend.
It was thought that this song was about Jimi Hendrix. But the band has said it's really about a number of rock stars who died young and a warning to future ones. Some other good ones are Electric Land, Run With the Pack and Seagull
People love shooting stars, but they will always burn out....burn out is the problem. So many great musicians gone to soon due to the road and burn out. Live and love but do not be in a hurry , enjoy every single min you have :) Be well Biz
Success can definitely change a person in a negative way. Especially sudden success. Kinda like if someone who's spent their life starving and all of a sudden they have an endless access to food, they're gonna probably eat so much they'll get sick. And you can't really fault them, I'd probably do the same thing. Paul Rodgers, the lead vocalist for Bad Company is one of my favorite singers. He still sounds great today. Bad Company has a lot of great songs. The self titled debut album is flawless Imo.
Bad Company had an excellent second singer (Brian Howe) after Paul Rodgers left. For some reason, there aren't any reactors who listen to them. Maybe you could be the first. "Holy Water", "How About That", and "If You Needed Somebody" are excellent choices.
CAN'T GET ENOUGH, FEEL LIKE MAKIN LOVE, ROCK STEADY, BAD COMPANY 😊THERE'S SOME BIZ, THE FIRST 2 BEING HUGE HUGE HITS SO YOU MAY HAVE HEARD THEM, WHO KNOWS! 😊
It's about Jimi Hendrix! The Eagles song Life In The Fast Lane that also describes the lifestyle of rock stars that has taken out so many! Sadly substance abuse and airplanes got a lot of them.
Although this is a fantasy song about a kid making it big and then dying. I'm sure Paul Rodgers was in mind of Paul Kossoff the guitar player from his previous band Free. Paul didn't die until a year after this song came out but Paul Rodgers was frustrated that Free had to break up because of Paul Kossoff's heroin addiction. Paul Rodgers wrote every song on the last Free record and gave everybody in the band writing credits as an olive branch to try to get the band re-focused. On the last Free record he wrote a song very pointed at Paul Kossoff called Wishing Well about how talented of a guitar player he was and how he was just throwing it all away. Paul Kossoff was only 26 years old when his heart gave out on a trans-Atlantic flight. he couldn't be saved.
Great song and reaction. Singer Paul Rodgers and Drummer Simon Kirk were in the band Free before they formed Bad Company, you`ve already reacted to Free All right now, please also check out Wishing well, My brother Jake, Fire and Water and Come together in the morning.
Always loved this song. I tried for my rock n roll fantasy back in the day. Yes I had my demons. Had my fantasy come true I don't think that I would still be here. Now I just fiddle around with the guitar just to keep my sanity and flush out the nuances of life. It's a good place to be. Love your reactions. God Bless
I feel it's saying you strive so hard to make it big that once you get there you're like, What Now ? Was it worth it? Silver Blue and Gold is a great song then again their catalog is .
All Rogers doing is staying that's a good vocal the whole bands good check him out check out Paul Rodgers with Jimmy page in a band ace started called the firm radioactive is one good song there's a couple of
awesome song, thanks for your RX. glad u choose different songs than all the others. Another one by them to try is 'silver blue and gold' -- not as popular as their others, but still was a favorite of mine, prob my favorite.
Yo Biz man gettin a crash course in Rock and Roll and acing it! Good tunes man. Rock Steady and Silver, Blue and Gold are a couple good Bad Company tunes for your ears.
Simon Kirk, the drummer for Bad Company joined Ringo's All Starr Band for three tours and I was lucky enough to see the band all three times they played the New York/New Jersey area. One of the highlights of those shows was when Simon would take lead vocals on great versions of "Shooting Star". All of us Beatlemaniacs cheered like crazy when Simon sang that opening line "Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatles song, "Love Me Do" I think it was, and from there it didn't take him long." What a band, Ringo, Simon, Gary Brooker from Procol Harum, Jack Bruce from Cream, Peter Frampton. Here's a link to the video of "Shooting Star." ruclips.net/video/c8XV3FsO4PI/видео.html
@@tonydelapa1911 I saw about 7-8 Ringo shows. I'd sit there and look at the various legends on stage and be incredulous. At Ringo's first tour in '89, at the PNC Art Center in NJ, Bruce Springsteen came out and sang lead on Long Tall Sally and Get Back. The crowd went crazy, yelling "BRUUCE!" Ringo came out from behind his drum kit and playfully pushed Bruce off the stage and admonished the crowd saying, "Let's Not Forget Who's Show This Is!" I thought to myself "Only a member of the Beatles could push Bruce off a New Jersey stage and get away with it!"
@@KennyY-bh3zl Awesome! My wife and I were thinking about going to one of the shows 4-5 years ago. Tickets were available. I was day to day suitable to go or not due to lots of chemo and a resulting poor immune system, so we don’t plan things like that too far in advance. Anyway, we decided we would but tickets the next morning for South Bend, IN. That night local news showed the auditorium ceiling had collapsed. Thankfully the room was empty. They had to scramble to find another venue and we just decided to stay home. I definitely agree with you on the talent level. Dr. John, Clarence Clemons, Dave Edmunds and many other more well known people.
@@tonydelapa1911 Wow, what a story, Tony! Sometimes better not to go than to go, no matter how good a show might be. There was a rain or shine show and I was going to meet friends there, about two miles from my home. It was at a minor league ballpark, featuring Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp. I was in bumper-to-bumper traffic on my way to the show when torrential winds and rain hit, like a tropical monsoon. I decided to turn around and head home. My friends attended and said what a terrible evening it was, the musicians drenched though covered by a stage, and all the fans huddled together by the concession stands, all drenched. Glad I went home instead. Sorry to hear about your need for chemo. I am dealing with prostate cancer, but fortunately it is in remission thanks to some great medication.
@@KennyY-bh3zl that was a good decision! Mine is myeloma. No cure but I have beaten it 5 times. I like to say I am 5 & 0 in a one and done league. Loved your reaction and commentary! Even though it's a tragically sad song it could have been reality for a lot of people and sadly was for many! If you've ever been down and out it's very relatable, is for me! I still love to sing it though, it has a spiritual essence and connection to me so that's why! I also loved the musicianship right in the pocket, as if they're going through it too.? Always gives me goosebumps! I love this song and sure I always will!🎤🎸 Peace ✌ ❤❤❤🙏🌎

"Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summers day."
That's poetry right there.
Love this song.
When they perform this live, they show a montage (on screen) of the different musicians that have passed away.
One of those great bands that often doesn't get enough recognition.
This is a Hendrix tribute song
Paul Rodgers is absolutely one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Soul, baby.
"If you listen to the 'Wind'..(Cries Mary)... you can still hear him play". Always gets me🎸. Thanks for the great music reactions

Ironic, because....
Such great vocals. This is a great song.
Bad Company, Singer Paul Rogers is one of rock greats. An iconic voice for all singers to learn from.
That's why Paul sang that Johnny was a "Shooting Star" because a shooting star is so beautiful lighting up the sky but it's gone within seconds from our sight , just like Johnny

One of the baddest classic rock songs ever made.
Most artistic people, I think, have turmoil. But it's so beautiful when they release it in whatever way they do. ❤

Bad Co. Not in the R&R Hall. One of the most ubiquitous groups of the Classic Era, with one of Rocks great vocalists. Now that’s a damn shame.
Baaaadd Company! I can’t deny.
Baaaaadd Company! Till the day I die
And, Yes! I Own the t shirt
Paul Rogers(formerly of the band Free)who sings this song was one of Ronnie van Zandt's(Lynyrd Skynyrd) favorite singers and inspirations.
This song hit me in the gut, it had me tearing up. INSTANT CLASSIC!

I had so much fun at this concert!
(Now I have an AARP card... My how time flies!)
I got to see them in concert circa 76-77 . I loved every decibel of it .
When I was a teenager this was Rock and Roll. Great rock beat, great guitar, and that Paul Rodgers voice.
The time old tale of living fast and dying young ✌️
