I discovered this song when I was in 8th grade (early 80's), and remember singing this song to myself while I was in front of my locker, and behind me a boy I liked walked passed me, poked me in the back, I turned and he smiled and waved. I was on a cloud nine the rest of the day and this song always reminds me of that. I'm 48 now.

This song was written about a former band mate, before Bad Co. a band called Free with lead singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke had a hit called Alright Now, the band mate was guitarist Paul Kossoff , when Free broke up Paul died from drugs and alcohol, this song was written in his memory, not Jimmi Hendricks like some might think.

I wore out my copy of this album. This song and "Feel Like Making Love" simply sublime.
Many, many sessions of de-seeding done on the cover, wink wink.
Most of the members of Bad Company came from a band called Free, another great English rock band of the era. They had a big hit with "Wishing Well" (worth a listen).
Bad Co. were a hugely popular band, although under the radar.

Because of our small population we were not seen as much of a market by the record companies. That, plus Australia is so far away from everywhere else; at least in those days it was Most bands got their fans by word of mouth. Bad Company weren't underrated. People forget that at the time they were considered a "supergroup", a band made up of already famous members. These guys were all from already successful bands - Paul Rodgers (vocals) and Simon Kirke (drums) both from Free, Boz Burrell (bass) from King Crimson and Mick Ralphs (guitar) from Mott the Hoople. Even then, Paul Rodgers (who wrote this song, incidentally) was considered one of, if not, the greatest rock/blues vocalists ever.

I'm not sure I would refer to these guys as underrated. Paul Rogers one of the greatest pure rock ‘n’ roll voices ever. AirPlay back in the day was tough with the competition and general managers creating narrow playlists for the station also, lots of corruption and kickbacks in the industry. College radio stations were always a source for great music that didn’t make it onto mainstream radio.

dude! loved the reaction! but, it's all about "feel like makin' love"! cool fact, i'm pretty sure it was the number one song of the year on billboard. the previous year, 1974, roberta flack had the number one song of the year, also titled "feel like making love", but a totally different song. both unforgettable. please do a special double video and listen to those songs back to back! thanks for entertaining us.

Crazy as it sounds, over the years lead Vocals Paul Rodgers describes so many groups, acts that were exactly this. BAD COMPANY and "SHOOTING STAR".... HERE TODAY, GONE TOMORROW.... BY THE WAY PAUL RODGERS WAS DESCRIBED AS THE PRINCE OF ROCK SINGERS... HIS FIRST GROUP "FREE".... "ALRIGHT NOW".... A LEGENDARY CLASSIC....AS USUAL JAYVEE GROOVY 70'S MUSIC...🤩✌

I heard he wrote this song about Jimi Hendrix. If you listen to the wind you can still here him play. My favorite songs of theirs are Feel like making love or Rock n Roll Fantasy.

Great reaction video, Jay. I want you to know there have been a handful of songs that you have reacted to that I never really know the lyrics to, and I'm learning them allllllll these years later.

every song this band wrote in the 70's was amazing. you should check out one of their ballads to see the emotions that they bring to the table, check out fade away or love me somebody. they have so many classics , everything from the 70's that they did was great.
