You are one of the few chefs that puts capers in panzanella. I have been making this for years and my original recipe calls for capers. For me it is a must. Like you I also started toasting the bread for some crunch.
I have a lot of family who live in italy, and they cook some of the best dishes using simple ingredients and fresh produce. This is just an example of how they cook. Love this, and enjoy all your videos. La vita e bella , -)
this channel is so underrated. people just dont know anymore what good food is. other youtubers fry a5 steaks and get millions of views and followers. you are by far my favorite food youtuber. keep it up! ;)
Yea..Bro.. love it your way.. I'm not big on mushy bread either ..Your method by practically making croutons and soaking up the juices is making my mouth water..And yea a va fa coulo to that guy who wouldn't give you cheese.
I had one from a random bakery in Florence and holy shit it was one of the best thing I’ve eaten! I didn’t know tomatoes and bread could taste that good.
Thanks, Steve -- enjoying your content! I've made both the Panzanella and Caesar salad and they've turned out fantastic. I am wondering if you would consider a jicama salad for your Mexican meals playlist. I never know what to do with jicama and would love to learn.
Thanks Vasooda!! I'll definitely get into it eventually but its not on the docket in the short term. I will be cover a lot of mexican stuff in the coming weeks
Panzanella is my absolute favorite salad. I call it "the salad for people who don't like salads." The flavors & texture are simply amazing. However, I finish it with a Balsamic Reduction. It goes from awesome to absolutely INSANE!
I've been making the same version of panzanella for about 20 years (including the shaved parmesan), but still watch cooking videos in case I might learn something new. The fresh peppers are a great idea, though I don't have any on hand so tonight I'm going to add some jarred pepperoncini. Thanks for the tip!
Panzanella elevated to the highest level! I want to return to Italy myself......It has been too long! I used your recipe.........this is no joke.....simply perfect! The textures and the marriage of flavors are brilliance! But FONGOOL to the guy in Italy! The Reggiano was like a blanket of sweetness! I also got disgusting and served it with a delicate hug of cerignola olives and my favorite white anchovies. Don't judge me.....I'm a salty guy! LOL.......Thank you for this! My new go-to!!!
Watching these videos on this channel im amazed. This channel is gonna blow up. These are quality videos with quality content. 1 million views by the end of next year. Great stuff
"Migas" is a pretty stereotypical dish from central Spain that seems to run along the same lines, and was developed for the same reason. I think it's basically stale bread, a little oil, plenty of garlic, and whatever vegetables you have on hand ;)
I don't know why exactly, but as soon as I see some thinly sliced red onions being added to other fresh ingredients, I am in! This looks so good. Thanks man!
This is one of those recipes that I love to watch people make, and I love to make it. I just can't eat it. Raw tomatoes just don't taste good to me. I'm looking forward to football season and tailgate food from you though.
I don’t like raw tomatoes either so I simply halve them and throw them in the oven with some salt and olive oil for a few hours at a very low temp. The end result is a slow roasted, sweet, flavourful tomato that doesn’t have the weird texture for raw tomatoes 🍅
Absolutely stunning, what a simple but delicious dish, BRAVO!! I do have to add one thing tho brother. #dallascowboysnationbaby... I know I know, there's one in every crowd right? great video Chef. : - )
Awesome looking salad with what looks to be with tons of flavor brotha... I'm not a fan of oregano and parsley, and that's funny cause I'm hispanic but I just don't agree with those 2 ingredients.... Awesome salad though👍👍 personally I use cilantro instead of parsley and cumin/comino instead of oregano.... Awesome video brotha👍👍
Thank you man! That’s what I’m trying to teach! You don’t need to do what I do, but I offer a format for which you can take and then cook for yourself and how you like it. That’s what cooking is all about!
You can actually triple it and add in other rustic type ingredients...like drained salmon or drained tuna...maybe even boiled eggs chopped. I don't know about you but I look at food as an adventure and way to keep my temple ( body ) satisfied. It's all about making a dish your way with style and taste.
Instead of using a cucumber you should try to use cocomero (no not the watermelon. I don't know the English or even the real Italian word, that's how we call it in my family). It's a cucumber-melon, that tastes a little less watery and would give even more crunch to the salad.
I have tried this amazing panzanella salad recipe and i found this recipe really an amazing recipe. Thanks for sharing this recipe with all of us. Even i have a special panzanella recipe as well. Check out the recipe here: www.foodybud.com/panzanella-salad-the-recipe-critic/
Because it’s not in the recipe normally, and Italians don’t really subscribe to the notion of the “customer is always right”. It’s very much part of the Italian experience.
@@NOTANOTHERCOOKINGSHOW If I were the waiter, I would have brought what you asked for, who cares! But thinking "ehhh americani!! Panzanella with parmigiano!? I will tell it to my friends tonight, we'll have a laugh!" :D
That looks awesome man. Would love to go to Italy one day. Great video. Keep crushing it! Love that you took something and made it your own by modifying the recipe. We do that all the time. Farmers Markets are great. Makes me feel like an actual chef.
NOT ANOTHER COOKING SHOW the only new thing I have seen is David Chang when he created “petrified” meats. Check out Mind of a Chef on Nexflix. Great show! Lots of inspiration.
Lol, I went out and got the stuff last night after watching the video and made the salad -- really super good. Sidenote, after 20 years of nursing- I sold everything and moved to Florence -was there probably about six months -took some culinary classes -fell in love with the city, the people , the food.
That looks delicious! I'm going to make it this weekend. Thanks! Also, nice editing on this, really liked the florance b roll really gave me some Casey vibes. If you don't mind, what song was used? As always keep it up buddy rooting for ya
First video I've seen by you, simply outstanding and spontaneous, you're a natural and your Panzanella recipe is nice. But top crying so much, it's only a recipe! 🥲 (Pro tip on the crying: soak the onion in ice water for 15 minutes prior, it leaches out the sulphur which activates the tear ducts). Well done my man.
Enjoy the final stretch of summer guys!! Hope you guys have enough inspiration to make a delicious Labor Day! Next up, Zeppoles!! See ya Thursday!
"half day old bread", also known as fresh bread 😄

guy just soaked the salad in olive oil. I loved this recipe for that!
Really nice touch adding some Steve history in there with the photos. Also, liked the farmer market shots. The shows evolving!
Thanks man, I'm trying this new thing called not being lazy.
A waiter refusing to let you alter your meal away from tradition sounds incredibly Italian haha
You make me want to eat tomatoes 95% more than I ever want tomatoes. Beautifully simple.
That’s the best! Thank you! It’s all I ever wanted to achieve with this series.

One word for the entire productionto content, " Brilliant ". Another two thumbs up production!
Thank you so much man!! Really appreciate that! Much love brother!
Made this for my family today. It was bomb! Exceeded expectations. Well done :) and with thanks
"Fangul to the guy in italy" 😂😂
Another great video Steve. Never heard of Panzanella. I learned something today.
Thanks guys!! I wanna see you guys make it!
Hope you made it!

Same..^^

That s like "choriatiki" in Greece.
Thats a really nice salad......must be so nice to live in italy
It’s was an amazing time!
This is basically Greek salad just with roasted bread! Love how similar some dishes are between Italy and Greece
Agree. First Panzanella I had was Ina Garten's version she calls "Greek Panzanella"...OMG I could eat the whole giant bowl!
The BEST Panzanella Salad I've ever made and had! Will never eat it any other way. Thank you!
Never heard of this but looks great! I'd eat it with Parm as well. Not sure Italy is gonna let us back in!
Thanks man! One of them “peasant” dishes. Those are always the best.
The afangulu Parmesan is my favourite part
Looks amazing brother! So fresh and so clean! LOL. Those onions get me every time! LOL Cheers brother!

Honestly tho! Why can’t they make that!?
I could eat a salad like that everyday for lunch. Kudos, that is a great presentation.

Another dish that at first did not appeal to my senses but boy was I wrong. Deeeee-licious! Thx for reminding me!
I think you already used 1 ladle of olive oil

Appreciate that buddy! Thank you!
i leaned italian in this video lol ahahhahaha
I love panzanella. Your verison look delicious. I took two cooking classes when I visited Florence.
Greaaaaaat recipe.
I’ve also done a version awhile ago on my YT channel with pizza crust leftovers!

I LOVE THIS SHOW! 😍🍅🇮🇹
Loved it, thanks so much. Not sure why you fandangoed the chef in Italy for her choices, but I'm sure if she ever saw your video, she would approve.
Beautiful.
I used what waa left in my veggie bin and it was delicious.
I hate panzanella because of its mushiness. But I would definitely eat this one, including the “va fancullo” parmigiano.
"And then fangulo to the guy...*adds parmigiano*"
Ahahhaha best line ever.
This truly is the only recipe for panzanella you will ever need!

Haha, thank you! I've grown friendly with a lot of texans as of late, so I got love even if you are division rivals. 😂
I love how you keep saying "add touch of olive oil" but at the end it's suddenly half liter of olive oil in :D look very delicious though
Good stuff! I’ve watched all your videos... Awesome!
Thanks so much! Thanks nice to know! I appreciate you being here, my friend! Hope you're learning a lot.
So by toasting the bread, they are basically croutons now? So it's a salad with croutons
Are you still putting on cooking videos? I’m new to your channel.
I cant decide if the fact that the restaurant refused to give you parmesan cheese is either outrageous or extremely admirable.
My mouth is watering and I just got some beautiful banana peppers from my cousin's garden. I'm making this!!
How perfect is that!! let me know how it goes!
Tnx for the new ideas

Beautiful, beautiful salad..
Waiting on a bumper crop of heirloom grape tomatoes, cant wait!
Nice channel, Looked great. Keep up the great work brother. Thanks for the video and the ideas
Thanks so much!! Really appreciate it!
Does anyone have a recipe for this that will feed a family of 6?
You can actually triple it and add in other rustic type ingredients...like drained salmon or drained tuna...maybe even boiled eggs chopped. I don't know about you but I look at food as an adventure and way to keep my temple ( body ) satisfied. It's all about making a dish your way with style and taste.
Been to Florence. It’s beautiful.
Nice and colorful. Lots of flavour too. Great !
Thank you my man!! Appreciate it!
BET YA THE GUY IN ITALY IS WALKING AROUND SORE TODAY
This looks like a primo panzanella! I'm with you on the texture. Never seen the garlic-on-the-Microplane trick; I like it.
the calories are gonna make me cry

Balsamic vinegar works great too.
Thanks!

Yummy
😋 yum
Perfect meal on a hot summer day
Sorry for not giving you the cheese that time, was having a bad day
whatever man...😂
Buonissima! 👍
I don't understand, why wouldn't he give you the parmesan?
Because it’s not in the recipe normally, and Italians don’t really subscribe to the notion of the “customer is always right”. It’s very much part of the Italian experience.

Francis Mallman, Kristina Tosi, and The dude in the Gelato Shop, Massimo batturo is great...so many good ones.
how if i don't use vinegar, is it the taste still good
Use citrus like lemon

Too many vegetables. Next.
....so much bla-bla for only just a simple salad...
Nobody likes a complainer
Tear the bread apart with your hand into larger distinguishable pieces next time.
No cubes in Italy
You’re right on the parm bro
