Agreed. UMvC3 had a great roster too, too bad they ruined the gameplay with the awful Weak/Mid/Fierce/Launcher button setup in that game. It might've been as good as 2 if they'd kept the button layout the same.
This was my fav one EVER. I miss unique characters like Ruby Heart, and Son Son and the old Jill Valentine. This game had all the epic characters as well, B.Hood, Felicia, Hayato, Psylocke, Strider, Jin...omg the list goes on and on. I prefer this over the new one. Remake this add Dante and Hsien Ko and I’m good!
Maybe because its full with a lot of Sprites with diferent art styles (for example, the Darkstalkers characters look weird compared to the Xmen characters) But indeed, this game inspired a lot the idea of crazy crossover games
@ Otaking Mikohani - You must have grown up during the PS3 era. The majority of games released for major home consoles starting from the PS2 going all the way back to the original NES ran 60 fps. It wasn't until the PS3 era and beyond that fps standard regressed down to 30 fps. And there are still morons claiming that the human eyes can't perceive the difference between 60 fps vs. 30 fps lol!

Dang, they went super overboard with the Street Fighter characters in this one, seriously MvC is the chance for characters like Ryu from Breath of Fire, The Arisen from Dragon's Dogma, or Gene from God Hand to make a fighting game debut but instead they use characters from the most popular fighting game series of all time who we've seen time and time again in a fighting game for obvious reasons and have no need to be in a crossover like MvC.
Because this game imported pre existing character sprites. Litterally 3/4s of the spirtes are from games that used Capcoms SF alpha engine. So importing those spirtes were easy. Same with all the marvel characters. the only knew sprites where like...Ruby heart Son son andamingo. This was made during an arcade decline so making a quick and cheap game was the best choice they could go with.
