I like how the warrior is the only class with shield but he has a broken sword
"but you'll never run out of that good ol' fashion hack 'n slash."
Weapon durability: I'm about to end this weapon's whole career.
true, but in fairness most weapons don't really have an issue with that given you get back durability at bonfires. I didn't notice for a long time that it even exiated when I was new, and I played swordsmann meaning I had the bloody scimitar as my fav weapon with it's low durability. But it's a good point, and since you get 30 soul arrows, find amber herbs in the second tutorial fog, and find greater soul arrow in the forest, as well as being able to buy 30 more normal ones from melentia, while ALSO being 1 upgrade away from a second attunement slot for those, having a dagger and that crossbow with 20 bolts everyone gets is more than enough.
@@lydiasteinebendiksen4269 on the other hand, the total durability of your weapons depends on how many of any given weapon you have. 10 longswords die slower than 1 longsword does
Wish the pyromancer could have been one of the starting classes in dark souls 2 :/
Dirakarr Indeed, would have been nice
I guess having pyromancy at level 1 kinda broken
@@someguywithabirdface2583 You do in other souls games tho..
@@someguywithabirdface2583 any help is welcome
Excellent job on both breakdown and narration, you've done brilliantly for those who aren't quite sure about the start they should no longer have any questions if they were a dark souls 1 player or even if not. Couldn't of done it better myself brother keep up the good work.
Nice descriptions, helps a lot 👍
Very informative, entertaining, well-produced video. Subscribed.
+Jeremy Galjour thanks so much Jeremy!
Awesome explanations, thank you.
That was terrific and very helpful.
abjsf69 Glad you found it helpful :)
Awesome guide. Thanks!
I've been watching so many dark souls 2 vids to get pumped all over again to play this on next gen even though i already beat once i can't waitt to play it again , one of the best games I've ever played easily on my top 5 of all time
i wonder what your top 5 might be
Thank you so much for this video,it really really helped a lot and chose bandit class and the healing wares because of this video.
***** I'm glad it was helpful for you! Have fun :)
Paper Planes
Thank you very much:).
the level 1 on the deprived made it a class you actualy consider. that's nice.
Thank you so much or the info, so clear
+Mohammad Hamdan you're welcome :)
Great video what is the music in the background sounds like ambient Silent Hill stuff
Very clear and informative.
Cheers bud!.
sbsmagic You're welcome, have fun!
another awesome video. well done man and thank you!
+Matthew Schmidt glad you found them helpful bud
Excellent guide and excellent video overall. Subbed.
Davidkeb1 Thanks I appreciate it!
Excellent video man, helped alot ay cheers.
Rahmah Nassar :)
The cleric is nice because you start with a mace too but it has low STR and DEX
I just started right after playing Dark Souls 1. I stopped at the Bed of Chaos. I did not feel like running through Lost Izalith back to the boss so I jumped on DS2.
I chose the cleric in without knowing anything. I saw the mace and knew that was the class for me.
After playing for 5 minutes, the game feels weird. My character doesn't swing the mace the way I like. His first swing is like an uppercut.. He also feels like he's running on a guide rail or something when I sprint. I tried to slide down the first ladder and fell off.
The graphics also seem slightly worse in DS2.
I'm definitely going to beat DS1 and DS2. I just noticed some differences right away.
Very good tips ! Love the song, what is it?
Haven't even gotten to the tips yet, but by reading a few comments, I'll sub already! Great work, man/woman! :)
RyanKlip Haha, nice! Thank you!
Whoa. I can't wait to play this game! Thanks!
+7heWriter yeah this game is definitely a good time (:
Great starter guide, subbed.
Fabled MajesticTurkey I appreciate the support Turkey!
Just what u was looking for. Cheers Sean. Shared it on twitter.
h1tchman Glad to hear it, thank you!
Ok, a bit of guidance please! Ok so on my sorcery build I'm at no man's warf, I've got 12 titanite shards 1 slab and 4 large shards. I wanna wait til get the blue flame (catalyst sword) I'm tempted to level up my fire long sword and catalyst, should I?
Is there anything that I should do or not do? I mean, is there any cool equipment that gets locked should I do a specific quest before I got X item to X NPC or joined X faction?
So when wanting to make a melee/caster build like a paladin, would it be better to choose cleric or knight? Both have decent melee and faith capabilities but neither start with a shield.
very good video! But I miss a mention of adp (specifically agl), since it's the stat that determins s (how long you're invincible by rolling) and item use speed (including that sweet estus) making it a stat that sadly becomes a bit pointless since all characters are lost without it, maybe with a few exeptions. The main reason to pick the explorer is the whopping 12 adp btw, which makes dodging really effective from the get go. I don't mean going in depth about the stat, but mentioning in the knight and explorer that they have high adp, making them good at dodging, and that the explorer also uses items faster because of it. I remember thinking adp was a worthless stat, and then my friend told me about s and now I don't ever upgrade any other stat before I have at least 95 agl.
this is such a good video
Good video I'm gonna go for the petrified something and cleric once it comes out for pc!
orgazamaddict For sure, that's a good combo!
Great video helped a lot! You just earned a sub! ;)
ThisBroPony Thanks so much bud, appreciate it!
I started on knight, but i dont now what i should level up on and what build i should have, any toughts?
Great video superb description of every class and gifts
Kaustubh Palamwar Thanks for your kind comment :)
great video
You got some great guides, thanks Sean! I also liked your background music in the beginning and the end, can you please tell us what music it is?
Christopher Øien Sounds like the ending song on Mass Effect 3
thanks!
thank you my lord ! just all I needed !
+GrooveTheDoctor haha you're welcome (:
Curious as why you didn't opt for effigies, as after later in the game staying human is a tuff task at times.
Does the human effigy come back or is it a one time use I picked it as a gift and then thought if it's a one time use it was a waste of a gift.
Just bought the game and ready to cave heads in. And your video g'd me up even more!!!!
Rahmah Nassar Nice, enjoy your brain bashing rampage.
Scholar of the First Sin edition on PC - I decided to abandon my game part-way as Swordsman (due to a possible bug...my character has started moving VERY slowly, like she's in a SWAMP...and after reading TONS of debates on the internet between Cleric and Sorcerer, your negatives on Sorcerer gave me the decision to go for Cleric - wish me luck! Great vid, Dude! From London, England :-)
I know this by experience. Selecting Deprived= you find more equipment in various chests. I have a theory dunno if this is true, but as you chose Gifts and choose Nothing= More drops, monsters drop more stuff?
Because why would they even put Nothing as an option of Gifts???
+TravelerWhereof chests never contain random drops.
6:57 seems someone forgot about durability
Petrified Something is a good choice if you were to try and acquire the Channlers Trident, although, it is random on what will actually be given in return.
Alright, I know that I’m a little late to the party, but, I’ve been trying to research and not really coming up with definite answers. I have played Dark Souls 1 extensively. And I’ve tried getting into 2 several times. But it’s just not felt right. So I think I need to have my proper build to be getting somewhere rather than just randomly investing in stats.
In DKS 1, my favourite build to play is a strength-based Pyromancer. Zweihander-type weapon, with pyromancy as my ranged option. I started with light armor to fast roll with my big weapon, and countered my enemies’ attacks with huge, slow, damaging swings. Later on, when I had the carry weight, and depending on the situation, I stacked on the poise when I would win the poise battle. In this game if I understand this, fire damage dealt scales with the combined ratings of Intelligence and Faith. And caps at a combined point total of 60. So, which class would be best to start with to make my strength-based Pyromancer? I imagine one with high strength, intelligence, and faith?
I subbed! nice video!
1980sBoy Thank you for the support!
... "after the scene" ==> that was very elegant and spoiler-free; thanks, bro =)
MALKton You're welcome, hope you enjoy!
great video, thanks
+Rico Suave you're welcome bud
I think the Explorer class is a good starting point if you want to create a PYROMANCY build! Just look at the stats, low faith and int, but attunement not too bad. As for strength and dexterity you can take this either way! Deprived is good for a dark class with a total of 18 points put into that direction!
ALSO SOMETHING TO NOTE: I realised something before when I was concidering class builds based on the concentration of points in each character, If you want to create a build that is purely melee, and you do not give a damn at all about using magic then the BANDIT is your best choice because dispite the 8 faith, it has only a total of 11 points devoted to magic including int and attunement, the lowest total magic of all classes!
One of the Dumbest things I've ever heard
awesome vids you got. Subbeed you buddy keep it going!
Falcon punch I appreciate it!
Whats the best starting class for a melee and sorcery combo? Ive been looking at some pvp vids and that seems somewhat ideal
blaze1951 start with a sorcerer so you already have some casting ability. It's very easy to turn any class into a specific type of character, it's more for starting gear and stats.
whats best class for two handed swords
Great introduction to the game thanks.
+Jacob Michael you're welcome, have fun!
Complete with Deprived class starting items FTW, Sounds like a worthy challenge!
Olof Gustafsson Have fun :)
Grande pelado barbudo. Muy buenas guias.
Thanks man! Have fun :D
Shit, all the classes that look cool are the opposite of my play-style.
please be patient i have autism, mine is the opposite.
Oh daddy donovan
Picked this up for my xmas gift, I'll start the game off with the Bandit and Seed of A Tree of Giants. I enjoyed the first Dark Souls but never played any of the later entries, and I heard mixed reception from the dedicated fans of the series, but I haven't looked into the game and wanted to go in with a low expectation point of view. They say this game is considered the worst, and that it can be unfair at times, but I'm ready for whatever this game will throw at me.
Great video, thanks for the guide.
It's a very good game, you'll enjoy it for sure.
The Broken Straight Sword has been buffed quite a lot. While it's by no means a viable weapon and should be replaced as soon as possible, it's nowhere near as bad as it is in DS1. The Broken Straight Sword takes forever to kill the hollow archer in the Undead Asylum where you get your first shield.
Facts:
Each level grants you 1 point for ANY stats....
Each classes starts out at different levels...
Question:
1. If all classes starting stats converted to points, minus the starting # of level, which one have the most points? (Which class have the most stats and lowest level?)
2. Are they all the same in that aspect?
Paper is a swordsman hard for the start?(I know how some of dark souls works I finished the first one) btw nice video earned a new sub
Evan Roldan Nothing is actually hard at the start unless you're a true beginner to the game mechanics. If you did well in Dark Souls, then the beginning of the game shouldn't be too tough.
Awesome video! I beat Bloodborne, and then I went on and beat Demon's Souls, and then Dark Souls. I'm waiting on Scholar of the First Sin to be delivered. I knew that when I got it, I would spend an hour or so trying to figure out what class to start as... but not anymore! Great explanations, and I REALLY appreciate the spoiler free layout of this guide. I've beaten all of the previous 3 games with as little spoilers as possible, so this video really helped me out. Thanks!
peach1389 You're welcome peach, have fun!
Outro music?
i think nothing is for players who want extra difficulty and along with deprive makes the game the equivalent of hard mode but not as hard with bonfire
Deprived is ez
I chose Knight, in the middle of my game I was able to use magic, pyromancy, miracles, and big swords :)
Judgement Weasel Yep, you basically just want to decide what stuff is important to you at the beginning because any class can do anything essentially.
thanks it really helped
you're welcome!
Man, I love the song that you used... so moody!
LiloPLAYS Thanks Lilo!
+Paper Planes Channel Hi, it's me again... this song is yours? Can I have it? I love it! haha
Hmm...
Would Swordmaster be the best for a high-damage output speed build?
I would also like to be able to use simple...spells? I don't know if that's what they're called in this game, but it would be cool to be quick, do good damage, and be able to burn enemies for a damage-over-time effect!
Devin McGuire start classes are just really good for initial gear and a slight start in the right direction for your stats. just figure out where you want your stats to be as your progress and then begin with the build that is closest to that point.
Right, thanks!
Thx for all the info. But i still cant make out which class to choose from.i just ordered this a few days ago...which class would you recommend Sean.thanks in advance dude
+Mad Bunny I think the best starting class for an easier start is the sorcerer. Good luck!
+Paper Planes Channel Thanks dude.Cant wait to try it out
Oh and do you play Destiny? just asking
Hi really think you but what is the best class for fighting u know it bought the game I deafetd the first boos with my friend and the second maybe I tried many time and I didn't know how to deafet him and I sold it but I will buy it soon on pc and I want a good class, by the way the first class I played with is knight
khaled aj Check out my Dark Souls 2 Ultimate Walkthrough Series. You will learn a lot and hopefully help make a decision on which class you'd like to play. ruclips.net/p/PLwikSXnC0f6T_ldxNR569ebGkkZQhtI79
I like to play game in stealth and Warrior type but I am Confused which class should I choose please help me this game is coming to cut my nerve
I wanna use a knight but i also wan't sorceress :(
+The Gaming Taco you'll be able to play as any build you want really, it's just for the first moments of the game.
I know it's off topic, but can you give some advice for ng+? I'm lvl 175 sworsman. Good video btw.
Slobodan Bacic Not sure what advice I could give you haha. You're already doing just fine!
great video really. but I have trouble finding the nest for the petrified something
+truytske the nest is located in the things betwixt starter zone. If you go through the fog gates you'll eventually get to it, be sure to kick the ladder down before you leave.
+Paper Planes Channel thx alot. found it!
+truytske you're welcome bud
Nice guide! BTW, what's the name of the ending music?
Getting this on ps4 tomorrow well today lol its 2 am but yay :D It's gonna be hard to parry because i'm used to bloodbornes gun parry
+The Gaming Taco nah you'll get it!
ok Thanks! I just started the game im choosing my guy
I'm conflicted between swordsmen and sorcerer... I'm a swordsmen, looking to build a spellsword
You can definitely build it that way if you like. There are no limits.
I'm such a noob at this game :( I chose the warrior class but I can't equip anything else like daggers and our starter hood. Am I just that dumb, or is there a restriction or something.
+RyseAbove you can equip them. Go to the menu, then select the first tab, then either replace your current weapon or add it to an empty slot. You're probably trying to swap it through your inventory instead of your equipment
+Paper Planes Channel Ah ok! tysm!
I fucked up. I was a warrior L.v 40 and I went into sorcery, needless to say this crippled my melee because I have points in to INT if I don't use them it'll be a waste. I wonder what I should do.
Nii Kojo You will end up playing multiple characters if you're anything like most players so I'd just use that as a learning experience and craft yourself a new character with a better idea of how the game works now!
Thanks bro! :)
I'm so peeved, one of the kids in my house moved the xbox with my copy of ds2 in it and gave it a circle scratch. It was fine at first, but then when I got to the spiders, they flashed black and white. When I got to duo dragonriders they didn't spawn. Some optional bosses hadn't spawned, like old dragonrider and the giant rat(he wouldn't jump down, had to buy a shit ton of arrows since I wasn't a dex user). I'm severely ticked, all I can do now is pvp and make new characters.
Devin Gordon Yuck sounds like a big letdown :(
spoiler!!!!! :)
***** Already tried that. Still not working.
Thanks 4 le tips
Darude Sandstorm you're welcome :)
what would you recommend for a beginner, knight class or deprived
jtl lamela For a beginner I'd recommend the knight over deprived.. if you want the game to be easy play a sorcerer. If you want to learn the most out of your first playthrough use a melee character as your primary damage source. Shield/Dodge/Roll are your biggest defense.
thanks Paper Planes
Im sorry great video, thank you.
I am on lever 22 and my life bar will not go up to full any more, never mind what I do it will stay half way giving me only half my life and also I have gone to look like a Zombie is this why my life will not go up and how can I get it up to full life again, can you please let me know.
+Clive Worth every time you die you lose hp... you drop your hp bar up to 50%.
first time you die, you become undead and you will stay undead until you use human effigy. it will reset your hp and you will be human again.
+KorisnikBr1 Thank you but I finished the game and waiting for Dark Souls 3 to come out
i have know idea on what class to start out as should i do a knight and then find a shield i like strength weapons and sorcery in dark souls 1 im a lvl. 148 with smoghs hammer and i use like all the sorcerys im a tank magic build ds 1 is easy but not so sure about dark souls 2 confused on whats good
colton dixon The easiest starting class is a sorcerer. You can kill all early level enemies very easily with your spells. Since you like being a tank mage, I'd start there. Weapons and shield/armor always obtained easily, but spells at the beginning of the game is a huge benefit.
I've never played DS before and wondering what class I should start as? Knight looks pretty cool but so does a cleric. I'm not sure which one to choose :S
Brutha Frenchy just make a few characters and figure out what you like best.. I think the best way to play this game is to experience it for yourself.
Okay, thanks! (:
Brutha Frenchy If you want to use spells as an off weapon, go with either or. Knight is pretty good for a more melee playstyle with an option for magic later on so you can be a range. Cleric would allow you to use both melee and magic, magic more so. You can be at a range but have an option to be melee.
why does the character's head look so big in comparison to his body. this wasn't an issue in DS1
I went with the explorer class so that I could get the high agility early on. Was that a good idea?
eh, it all depends on how you want to play. Experiment with your characters, the starting class isn't something you'll be bound to.
Thanks for help dinosaur man
+Christian hall rawrrrrrrrrrrr lucky for you my t-rex arms can't reach through the internets and keeeel you.
Im a real beginner in DS II i know my question my be stupid. I choosed knight as startingclass but i dont know how to use spells can he even or im i just to stupid ?
Mike429 You'll be able to use spells.. for instance if you want to cast sorcery spells you'll need to equip a catalyst in your hand and attune whatever spell you're trying to cast.
Is no luck stat
can anyone tell me what is the earliest possible shield pick-up?
I always start as a knight (FOR THE GLORY) but since it doesn't have a shield I want to know the earliest one in the game (bonus +1 if you can tell me the earliest 100% damage reduction shield)
thanks guys
Killer97 Purchase the Silver Eagle Kite shield in Majula from the vendor Maughlin the Armorer. It has 90 physical resist.
well I played with the crimson parma up until I found the drangleic shield (100%)
you said the armor imports when you start your game,
so do you mean the armor you water before you pick a class or the armor you had when you finished the game and start new game +
wore*
+WeHappyGamers I'm not sure what you're referring to. Can you tell me at what point in the video you're asking about?
The beginning when you said your deprived would have swag.
I think.
oh I was probably referring to the ragish armor set we all begin with but it sits in your inventory when you select your starter class.
Oh.
Hi Guys, I Confused and in need of guidance. I've built a "tank" class using the Knight as a base class. I'm taking hits very well, dodging well. Heck the Old knights struggle against me! But I'm not doing much damage. My stats are;
VGR 17
END 13
VIT 11
ATN 4
STR 13
DEX 10
ADP 11
INT 3
FTH 6
I'm open to most suggestions. I prefer Straight swords.
Sup Kojo. Since you are building a Tank character, I would suggest having good VGR and VIT (I would get around 40 in both) so you can take a beating and wear heavy armor, which allows you to take even more hits. You said you like Straight Swords, and most of them are quality weapons (this means they scale somewhat well with both STR and DEX), so you can raise both STR and DEX evenly, or you can get 13 Dex and pump STR to 40 and get the Red Rust Sword, which scales based on your STR. If you plan on using a Greatshield, I wouldn't pump too many points into ADP, since you won't be dodging much (if at all), but if you plan to powerstace or use a medium/small shield, getting 100 Agility (around 26 ADP) is the sweet spot imo. Hope this helps =D
Omg that's precisely what I'm doing! Thanks!
so the bandit class is the only one that has a bow? and if so can u get a bow early in the game?
+Firebirdx9Gaming I believe so, and yes you can. There is a bow you get for free when you unlock the blacksmiths home. Which you can do before you fight any bosses.
+Paper Planes Channel ok thx
man i wish i looked up the class diffrences before i didnt know that the nest did anything
+shadowrocks95 it's not a big deal bud, don't sweat it!
im out of effigy and i havnt even made it to the first boss yet
cool vid. thx for the hawt tips.
Tad Ulicny You're welcome Tad
I chose bandit on a whim Bc he looked cool and I hate him
I am new to the dark souls series and my first game is dark souls 2. I want a class that can DEAL alot of damage and also TAKE alot of damage is the knight a good pick ??? ( i dont want to die a lot )
Yeah you're talking about a strength build. So yes a knight is a good choice, and a safe choice for new players.
+Paper Planes Channel Thank you for your advice!
This may be a dumb question, but what class would be good for an archer?
Josiah McBride look into the weapons you want to use, find their requirements to wield them effectively. Also see which items scale higher damage with certain stats. Then begin upgrading any starting character with that direction in mind. Classes are really only good for starting gear and original stats, you can make any character good at anything they are not limited to what they begin as.
I say Bandit
Hey thanks for not telling me what the Petrified something is traded for, I was a little worried you'd give it away, appreciate it
It’s random
I think deprived was dome best in this game
