My grandmother’s funeral was the same night I was planning on seeing the tour for the first time. I didn’t go to the show, obviously. Now every time I hear this song, I feel my grandmothers presence. The song had a whole different meaning for me and it’s still chilling.
My grandmother has dementia and has sadly reached the point of no mental return. I have found a small amount of solace in music that brings my imagination to the point that I felt when I was a child. I can't even imagine what you have gone through, however I know that through the subtle frequencies we will surely move to a world where we can be happy and look back on moments that made us smile. This song was a part of my life that I'll never get back, however through us the past can live forever. And those included.

I got to take my two brothers to their first rave, and you were the main act, porter as Virtual Self. When I say it was a religious experience, anyone who got to witness it knows exactly that it was just that. I was at the time recently diagnosed with bipolar 2. I felt my life crashing and burning before my eyes. I hadn’t been to a rave in over 5yrs at that point since moving to Austin. You came and my little brother loves you, so he suggested it and I got us all tickets for it. I had never seen my older brother dance, never seen my little brother smile so much, and I couldn’t have had that experience without you dreaming this whole experience up. It speaks about how the A.I. we create might eventually gain consciousness and live in a virtual world, where they flourished like the flower from Particle Arts. This video represents their path to reality, they, like Ghosts, are trying to manifest themselves in the real world. They seem like the saviors of humanity, one like an angel, while the other chooses our path, and in the end, they are finally "facing" the world.

I finally watched Serial Experiments Lain and all I have to say is WOW! I can't believe I haven't watched it earlier. Such a good show. Highly recommend it to anyone even remotely interested in anime or cyberpunk stuff.
You should watch Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex It's less focused on the internet's effects on humanity and more along the lines of cyborg/military punk, but it's at the same level of depth as SEL, with the added bonus of being far less dated-looking

I don't know if anyone has hit the "show more" button, but there's a bunch of sort of cryptic messages/questions, that make some sense when you carefully read it. The gist of it I think is uploading our existence via machine technology, whilst questioning our own humanity when "living" in an infinite, limitless form. I thought Porter's Virtual Self stuff was a masterpiece because of the technicality of his music, and the feeling that it gave me, but this goes deeper than most pieces of music/artwork that I've ever seen. Now I understand how the haunting synths and the concept of a technical future tie together to envision the transformative "virtual self". Absolutely, incredibly, genius.

I finally watched Serial Experiments Lain and all I have to say is WOW! I can't believe I haven't watched it earlier. Such a good show. Highly recommend it to anyone even remotely interested in anime or cyberpunk stuff.

I don't know if anyone has hit the "show more" button, but there's a bunch of sort of cryptic messages/questions, that make some sense when you carefully read it. The gist of it I think is uploading our existence via machine technology, whilst questioning our own humanity when "living" in an infinite, limitless form. I thought Porter's Virtual Self stuff was a masterpiece because of the technicality of his music, and the feeling that it gave me, but this goes deeper than most pieces of music/artwork that I've ever seen. Now I understand how the haunting synths and the concept of a technical future tie together to envision the transformative "virtual self". Absolutely, incredibly, genius.
This whole album makes me nostalgic to the time I was a kid, having 12 hour long cartrips blasting electric techno music with my dad driving 160km/h on the german highway. What a time
