I make this all the time. Like every few days. Since I'm on a diet, this is the best snack ever. I can have it anytime I want as much as I want. Now, I was a little bothered with the sugar and honey. There is absolutely no need for that. What I do, is add more dates. That makes it sweeter and sticky, plus dates are extremely healthy. Also, I sometimes add vanilla extract, cinnamon, even rum. Store them in the fridge with some wax paper in between. Love your channel. Thank you for sharing.
I made these for my father in law! Because a lot of the dried fruits were sold out here, I used a packet of mixed dried fruit and a packet of mixed nuts with honey. I didn't add as much rum as you did but he said they were delicious! Thanks for the recipe :)
I have made your bourbon balls at Christmas for friends and family for two years running and they have been a hit, and these look like a test addition to my plans :)
What a great idea, Stephanie! These can take the place of that dreaded holiday monster, FRUITCAKE! My family will love these, especially the chocolate dipped variety! Thanks for sharing!
These were delicious, Stephanie. Again, I must commend you on your excellent teaching skills; you always make your recipes seem so effortless. Keep those recipes coming! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
The easiest way to camouflage real chocolate that hasn't been tempered is to use drizzle or toppings. It works every time and makes the presentation more impressive. I've stopped giving gifts of homemade items to people who don't know the difference between a box cake or something that you've made from scratch. The time, expense and effort should really be shared with people who understand what it took to make it and appreciate your labor of love.
Made an Advent-project out of it with my 2 young Grandsons. We had tons of fun ... and enjoyed the delicious outcome immediately after dinner. One thing is for sure ... we have to make some more ;o) Thanks for this wonderful & simple recipe!
Hi Stephanie I'm kind of a young amature to baking I have been doing it for a while but I've been working up to Christmas and I realllllllly wanna make something for my family on Christmas but I have to make it on christmas Eve I was wondering if you had any ideas of what I could do please reply !
What about making different flavor candy with individual combinations of fruit and nuts. Like walnuts and coconut with dates, pecans and papaya, apricots and almonds with almond flavor, etc Each dipped in white, milk or dark chocolates. More work but more variety.
... and we are making it again this Christmas ~ thanks! P.S. please do me a favour and don't reach into the chopper, when it is still plugged in. I am always worried you might chop your fingers off ... ;o)
+mmbmbmbmb With a food processor, unless you have the lid on and snapped shut, it will not work. So with the lid off, it will not work. So no worries. :)
+Joy of Baking ... believe it or not ... I am actually relieved to hear that! Thanks for getting back to me :o) BIG compliment to you, for all your "offerings". Merry Christmas! Karin
we something similar in saudi arabia but only we use date and nuts and mix it with butter instead of alcohol and flavor it with cardamom power>>> it waaaw amazing
I think the only thing in this recipe that would have gluten is certain brands of powdered sugar because some of them contain a starch which has gluten so you can watch for that. Other than that it's gluten-free. Dried fruits themselves are almost always gluten-free unless they've have something else added to them. You should also steer-clear of any cocoa powder and alcohols with malt in it for those won't be gluten-free.

If you want candy, then you could make the Peanut Butter Fudge or Simple Chocolate Fudge. Rice Krispies Treats are always popular and very easy to make. For bars you could make the Magic Bars or Brownies. For cookies the Peanut Blossoms or the Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons (you don't have to dip them in the chocolate). Good luck.
just love it when the dog breaks in and steals the scene. feels like real home setting.

Great!
Hi , can i use french vanilla to flavor it instead ifthe alcohol
You could use a little vanilla or even fruit juice or water, instead of the alcohol.
My melted chocolate is thick,so can i add some water in it.
what about rose water with the nuts mix
Would the fruit for fruit cakes work in this recipe as well?
You could do that.
is their a way to make this without nuts? im allergic
