- In this video I review the Sony 24-50G after real world use filming weddings and other events and discuss who should buy the lens.
I bought the Sony 24-50G f/2.8 lens after watching it 100,650 youtube reviews on it and not finding the answers I was looking for because of contradictory reviews. After some long thoughts I decided I will buy it and test the Sony 24-50g vs the Sony 24-70 GM II and the Tamron 20-40 f/2.8 to figure out how much better the Sony 24-50g is than the Tamron 20-40 and if I can deal with the comprimises of the Sony 24-50g compared to the Sony 24-70 GM II.
Also in the video... I make fun of a camera that doesn't have a hot shoe and doesn't have a headphone output... that camera exists now... its a Panasonic s9 LMFAO!

Thank you so much for this review! I have the 24-70 f 2.8 the first generation and I hardly use it because its so heavy think this lens will replace it! Ive been debating this and the 20-70 f4 but I think the 24-50 f 2.8 is the lens for me! and I have the 20 f 1.8 to fill the wider end! Thank you!

Thank you for your video. I’m an owner of both the Sony 24-70/2.8 GM II and the new 24-50/2.8 G. I use the GM II on my full size full frame bodies like the A1 and A7RV but now use the small 24-50mm with my compact “C” bodies like the A7RC and A7CII for travel. Wondering if I should also consider the 16-25/2.8 G as well. Always enjoy your videos and the kids are great. Take care.

Looking forward to switching to Sony, so many lens choices and options, this is another great lens I think I could start with. What would you recommend is a good starting body? (Photography) I mainly do events and weddings and my only must haves is two card slots. I am currently using the Fuji XH2s and a range of lenses but plan to keep this system as the back up and as a second body mainly with the Fuji 56mm I have also have the 90mm for extra reach.
I wanted you to talk about the vignette problem on this lens and how bad is it.
I love the size and weight, but after trying it and already owning the 24-105 and 2470gmii I just really can't justify the expense over some new RGBLGBTQ video light panels (who needs a bowens mount?)
I like the idea of having something small like the 24-50mm. Wouldn't clear image zoom be a good solution to limited range?

For family & traveling, would you choose the 20-70 or 24-50?
24-50. I don't use any F4 lenses
I'm looking for a universal lens for travel and watch reports, most often I shoot compositions such as flat-lay/wristhot/and then various details at meetings and events. I'm deciding between Tamron 28-75 g2 2.8 and Sony 24-50 2.8. There is a relatively good price action on Sony right now, so the difference is not that much. What would you recommend, and is the software correction of vignetting and distortion in photos sufficient? Thanks!

An advantage of Da Nuts , Sigma 24-70 , for video users , is that it zooms the same direction as all cine / video zooms . Sony is the wrong way round ! Only the PZ zooms ,you can change direction in the menu . Those with muscle memory of cine zooms it means a lot , it's impossible to re train your brain when your shooting hand held in the heat of battle.
I dunno I get used to subtle differences in 5 mins
@@nVuFilms I guess it depends how long you have been using "normal" zoom direction . For me and others like me coming from ENG / Cine zooms for anything like 10 years or more ,I think it's impossible, and a big bonus for the Sigma,s .

What do you think about the Sigma 28-70 f2.8 dg dn? It’s equally lightweight, narrower on the wide end but has longer reach.
