Without you I cannot confide in anything
The hope is pale designed in light of dreams you bring
Summer's gone, the day is done soon comes the night
Biding time, leaving the line and out of sight
(Chorus)
One moonlit shadow on the wall
Disrupted in its own creation
Veiled in the darkness of this fall
Is this the end - manifestation
It runs in me, your poison seething in my veins
This skin is old and stained by late September rains
A final word from me would be the first for you
The rest is long but I'll go on inside and through
(Chorus)
One moonlit shadow on the wall
Disrupted in its own creation
Veiled in the darkness of this fall

HOLY SBIT URBEBEBE
@@desire418 But all I see is people complaining some song isn't on spotify. You can have every song in your music app and for all I know you can make a playlist with many songs as long as your memory card can take them. And as for discovering new bands and songs, you can do the same with a little research on RUclips and Google
Possibly the most beautiful outro riff ever written. Breaks my heart to hear it
+schpleeb Heavily agreed. Numbing.
+schpleeb This whole songs hurts the feels.
+rusko dudesko did you find it? I'm interested
It's just pure beauty, Mikael is a genius
agreed, so beautiful
True Story: This song allowed me to get my breathing under control during a really bad asthma attack in my teens. This song literally saved my life. Thankyou opeth ❤
Pretty cool to post the same comment 7 months apart lol wtf?
Music is powerful
Shit that must have been tough, and I can kinda relate, I used to play opeth when I was having a panic/anxiety attack, don't really know why but i had a lot of those last year
Not even opeth cares
opeth makes the best melancholy music ever. it's so dark yet very sad at the same time, i love how opeth deals wih conflicting emotions like that and imo the contrast between the extremely heavy stuff and the clean acoustic stuff is what makes opeth fucking godly
precisely - Opeth sort of puts my mind at ease about death . . .
Well, in a sense, this song is heavier than their heavy stuff.
nailed it!
Their transitions are god like, to be able to go from heavy to a beautiful clean riff is stunning.
This and Hours of Wealth makes melancholy seem beautiful, and to me, it can make my own temporary sadness a source of happiness from said beauty - and once I feel happy, the sadness is no more.
So much emotion and loneliness in this song.
The ivy covers all
One of the most beautiful songs ever. That outro is just incredible.

Only a genius can make a song like that
Thanks Mike.
Mikael's acoustic guitarwork is impeccable
.... You ever think a song is so perfect that you are unworthy to hear it?
No, that is pretty silly, but I do feel pretty guilty that Opeth came to my country multiple times and I couldn't attend. It would have taken some sacrifices and I just didn't.
Low self esteem?
Yes. It's called "Blessings Upon the Throne of Tyranny".
Spotify thinks so :(
It is possible for a song to be too beautiful?? this one is makes me cry every time I listen to it.
Sue Viola isn’t it hypnotic?
Its just that good.
these should have been recycled for damnation instead of tucking them away on an obscure deluxe disc
That pretty much the argument about blackwater park: ''i liked blackwater park why don't they stick to that sound?''
Now you are saying they should copy damnation everytime theybdo a new album because they are doing music now with clean vocals? Weak argument. Their music is dark and melodic as it always has been even with the new records, häxprocess from heritage has the more heartbreaking outro, strange brew is the most obscure song they have done that sounds absolutely nothing like they have done before in their discography. The good thing about this band is that it explores genre without having limitations with albums that are completely different from one another.

Too fucking right
I have been listening to this for 10 years, and it's still beautiful 💟
Didn't expect to find arabian people listening to one of the most underrated n' heart touching Opeth's songs.. Glad to find you here..

Been jamming Opeth of this era since 2004. Good shit

If you ever come back to this page, and made an attempt to see the comments, you will find me saying I love you, even more from the first time I said to you.
A sweet melody combined with a hauntingly beautiful voice. What else could I ever ask for?
+Rodrigo Barreto a gf
+Taylor 123 hahahahaha
the rest of Blackwater Park?
No,I'm not convinced yet.
Dir En Grey "Vinushka"
Had this song around for years. Became unavailable in every way, had to come back to RUclips. Glad to see other people like it so much too.
I actually don't think Opeth even know how good this song is. This is the most Metal song in the universe. This sounds like an elevator song in Hell...
Opeth at their best. Just Michael's voice and two guitars.
their bassist is a beast tho, but this song is just amazing
He is absolutely a beast. But in the piano/guitar, or two guitars only - songs, the true, haunting beauty of Opeth really comes through. There is a fragile, melancholic atmosphere in their clean creations that I find beautiful beyond words.
CZ wpl
Old comment but I swear I can hear Steven Wilson on backing vocals
Words can not describe what Opeth means to me.
So beautiful.
I recommend Nick Drake`s "Day is Done" song, which "Patterns in the Ivy II" are actually based on according to Mikaels interviews (he said that Drake was their inspiration and theese two songs have very similiar guitar patterns in the begginig).
TheCrimsonBudgie damn. now that you say it, I see the similarities, but would never have guessed. thanks for letting us know!
Recommending Nick drake is a great advice, Opeth-related or not :)
I'd recomment Nick Drake's Pink Moon album, "Place To Be" and "From The Morning" are in my Top 10 songs ever, no doubt about that !
I'll listen to.
Thanks bro.
He also mentioned that his two daughters were born while Nick Drake was playing in the background. Beautiful!
Yet to find an Opeth track that I dislike.
The Lotus Eater kind of sucks
Alec Vanderheyden only and idiot would think such a thing. Lotus eater is a masterpiece.
@@tylerjacobson8012 I like the first part of the Intro but after that it just breaks the entire atmosphere and tension. I haven't listened to the entire track because I can't get past the first heavy part. They really ruined what could have been so epic there. I love heavy stuff but on that song it ruins the atmosphere
Good luck bro, I don't think you'll find it
Alec Vanderheyden listen to it live on RUclips or try listening to it multiple times I love trying to do the screams but end up with a bad throat 😂
Opeth has the best b-sides ever
Katatonia also
True. Unfurl and Sulfur are some of my personal favorites.
Fractured and No Devotion are great as well
Cirkelns Rikting from the last album. My god, that song can't be real.
@@ogulcanyolcu8714 thanks! I was not aware of it
These are the types of songs that give you the Opeth dreamscape: A glimpse into some mystical realm where all is beautiful and peaceful
Yes a bunch of songs do that
Opeth is Latin for city of the moon
Criminally underrated Opeth song.
This and Hours of Wealth may just be Mikael's greatest compositions. He truly excels in painting beautiful melancholy with the acoustic.
Blackwater park is my favourite album by Opeth with Still life. I didn't know this existed !! A very good one !
This is from the Deluxe Edition (2 cd). Second disc has two beautiful songs (this one and Still Day Beneath The Sun). Also has the video for the song 'Harvest'.
Yes, I discovered Still day beneath the sun a few days ago too. They could have put these titles on the classic edition !
Excellent tracks :D i wrote a song that's on the front page of my channel called "The Lonely Harvest" that took some inspiration from the acoustic songs on this album and damnation if you guys wanna check it out. Love this band to death :)
O.C. White whats the video like? harvest was the song that got me into opeth, in fact it got me into extreme metal as i bought bwp only liking harvest at the time, and i made myself listen to the others and i soon fell in love with it
WingedStoneMartens What's this album called. Sorry. Drunk
First of all, this is one of the best Opeth songs that they need to release as a single with Still Day Beneath the Sun. Secondly, for the crazy obsessed fans, wow this is very inspired by Nick Drake. Very cool.
Yep, it's like a Swedish, higher-definition take on Nick Drake's legacy
I listen to this song like 5 times a day or more :D Just love it, and it gets me into a certain mood
Imagine being in the early 2000's and buying that special vinyl edition, later on while listening the album the bonus tracks comes and you've just found out Patterns in the Ivy II and Still Day Beneath the Sun
I often wish this happened to me.
I’ve recently bought the vinyl for 200€ and god dang that was the deal of my
This and Still Day Beneath the Sun get my angry with Mikael, why, WHY would he cut these 2 beautiful songs from the album...
HydratedLucium where are these two songs found in? What album?

chills in the outro. every time.
I have decided to have tatoos of opeth logo
A pity that when he sings "Patterns in the Ivy" its only once in the song. Its so good....
This song saved my life. Got me through an asthma attack that could've ended me...... Thanks Opeth 🖤
One shiver per second in this song. Opeth created a monster.
Good song! I like the classic "O" artwork on this video.
So Nick Drake:y, love it.
If stuff like this and still day beneath the sun dont end up on some of the opeth albums, or even spotify, Michael should do a solo album with this type of stuff. I know hes mentioned it years ago.. what an album that would be

Opeth teach us how beautiful loneliness could be..
Unbelievable depth and beauty.
I've been an ardent Opeth fan for more than a decade but this is the first time I hear this song. Which album is it on?
Gene Bur blackwater park re-release
@@erdemyelmenoglu2493 No, it's on the Blackwater Park Special Edition from 2001, which was a limited edition to, I think, 2000 or so copies. The 2010 re-release Legacy Edition doesn't have this or Still Day Beneath The Sun.
oh sorry dude my bad@@belastian1974
There's a problem with modern Opeth, and it's not the lack of growling vocals. It's a lack of creativity that spawned songs like this.
1111 people got goosebumps listening to this, 10 were devoid of emotions.
Opeth will never make another pieces of art like this one.Period.Don`t try to come with opeth fan shit, cause it won`t work, at least not for me.
Don't forget to listen to the criminally overlooked 'Isolation Years' offa GR. SUCH.... a gorgeous tune

Mike has such a beautiful voice.

This is the epitome of music!
This is a metal lullaby.
I need more music like this! (other bands, I already listen all Opeth prog songs)
Sorry, nothing comparable exists.
Maybe Katatonia. The newer albums, they have some cool cleans, reminds me very much of Opeth. Also Mikael used to be in that band :D
:O I hear? (I don't know how to english xD) Katatonia, In 2013 I was obsessed with Dead End Kings. Thanks to recomend, though :D
+Franco Carrillo Try Katatonia - Departer :) You will like it
Listen to Ne Obliviscaris, they're amazing
Man this song reminds so much of 60/70's brazillian popular music (MPB)
That last riff saddens my soul . Its like watching your mother or best friend walking away into the distance knowing you will never see them again .
I used this song in the slide presentation at both my parent's eulogies.💔 I got the opportunity to tell Mikael this when I met him. ❤
.....so genuine sad and hence divine and beatifull
Great song. Incredibly proggy. Sounds like moonchild by king crimson a little bit with mixes of Mikaels love of camel. Should have stayed on the album. Love the melody and vocal harmonies.
Only Mike can achieve such epic levels when it comes to his poetry. Without hearing a song, just reading the lyrics gives you goosebumps, that's how good he is.
If you ever listen to this, Mim. Just know that I love you.
Bellissimo!!! 💞 Questo brano musicale
I hear king Crimson in 99% of opeth songs and I love it

The thing about this music is that not everyone will get it but honestly it’s not for everybody. Not everybody is blessed enough to perceive this beauty

So pissed off that this track is not on my copy of the album and therefore i never heard it until now! There shouldn't be editions of albums where an outro is excluded.
This track was never part of Blackwater Park, it was released as a single along with Still Day Beneath the Sun.
@@jasmeg2844 it's on the limited edition of blackwater park, along with still day beneath the sun.
When that solo hits at 3:01. I'm not crying.
I was lucky to find the special edition in a used bin for $12. Now it’s been ripped and copied onto several CD’s and my two iPods and phone.
my sister and i listen to this album while reading about famous killers many many years ago, good times
How the fuck is this still a secret song
Thanks for uploading just the second version! :D
I was a wee bit annoyed This and Still Day were ledt off the RSD repress of BWP...like..why, theres 💯 room for them on Disc 2 side 2...sigh oh well
If you like this track, check out 'Interludium' by Iubaris, comes pretty close in terms of atmosphere.
Many years ago I downloaded some version of Blackwater Park that included really great instrumental moments that I am unable to find now. This sounds awesome but I still cant find some part on the whole album where a super chilled out electric guitar melody repeats a few times, without drums, I think some synthesizer possibly (like 15-30 sec long)
Can anyone tell if Mike is playing an acoustic of a classical guitar? I think it's a classical one with bright tremble strings...
it sounds like a steel string., its odd because I think the sound of a steel string acoustic is very "classical" as a result of growing up playing them despite theyre only being 120 or so years old.
Probably so. He is plucking the strings very lightly and I fancy how the high strings are ringing through...Not entirely nylon nor steel sound. Cool as Opeth.
Really beautiful solo

taken deep within the grace
of silent night and sordid face
what was once made between the fall

what secreted the iron will
for teathered souls to beaten ill
the hound cried once to mark the place
and cried again to give it chase
an order pithed in piped call
an order still at once too tall
