    Really enjoy your videos. I grew up in Texas city and fished alot of the same spots you do. Had some things happen and had to move from the coast. I miss the gulf. It's just nice to get to see the waters I remember in your videos. Keep it up man.

    Damn that’s impressive. Quarter throttle and you were already up on plane. That thing is gonna be nuts in the fuel burn category.

    Aloha Kagen, Congratz on your new Tohatsu. I have the identical motor, and mine started on the very first pull too. Hang on to your old Johnson (that doesn't sound right) for a back-up motor just in case.

    So your power pole bracket was a self invention or you can buy them somewhere? I am looking to duplicate your rig at some point. Love it! Galveston County resident!

      Michael Collins yah it was a self invention. I surprised myself with how it turned out honestly. Thanks for watching!

    Would a 8 hp be too much in your opinion it’s about 25 lbs more

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  4 года назад

      Mitchell Pennington I don’t think it would be to much horse power. The problem though is the weight. 25lbs more on the back of the skiff wouldn’t be good for the stability. Also the transom strength was made to withstand the power and weight of the 6.

    Lmk how you like the power pole. I keep reading it throws off the skiff weight

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 лет назад +1

      Cast N Blast with it being mounted in center it doesn’t affect it much. I can tell that it does put a little weight in the back but it’s worth it 100%

    How is the solo skiff in the wind? Does it spin around like a kayak? And what’s it like when passing a large boats wake? Do you turn into it or risk riding the roll?

      Grant Foster well it all starts with what kind of fishing do you like? The main purpose of this craft is to get where a normal motor boat can’t go like a kayak but able to cover more ground quicker. For what I use it for it is an amazing skiff.

    I will be taking ownership of a Solo Skiff thanks to your videos. What length H-rails did you install? Can you give exact measurements and hardware used for your Power Pole Micro anchor mount? Thank you in advanced.

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 лет назад

      M_SAGUD I’m glad I could give information to help a person make a purchase. I got the 21 inch rails. The hardware I used 1.5 inch U bolts and the rest was 1.5 inch angle aluminum.

      6HP. Prices change depending on site. I got mine from Online outboards.

    What was your reason for not mounting the power-pole micro on one of the rear gunnels? Just curious

    Bro where'd you get that seat hatch mat from?? Been looking for something like that

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 лет назад +1

      I ordered a roll of foam off of amazon to line the entire floor of it and used the leftover to cover the seat. It’s only 6mm thick but makes a big difference when sitting on it. There’s a video on the channel (solo skiff rigging pt1) and I have a link to the foam in the description.

    Hi, just curious how well does the transom saver work? I just bought a solo skiff and got a 6hp Suzuki for it but wasn’t sure how good would the motor stay using this transom saver, does the motor slip out or move at all while is running ? I would love to get your input . Awesome channel , Thank you

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 лет назад

      Lester Garabito thanks for watching! The purpose of me getting the transom saver wasn’t to reinforce the transom at all. The transom is strong enough on its own. I got it to make my power pole mount so I could screw into the saver and didn’t have to put any holes in my skiff to mount it.

  • @adrianu6288
    @adrianu6288 5 лет назад

    Where did you buy your transom saver? And is it the normal one or the 2 inch lift?

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 лет назад +1

      Adrian u www.skifflift.com I got the normal one. The reason for the normal height is that you have a better turning ability with the motor and helps when trying to fight wind and current in small waterways. You can run more shallow with the 2inch lift but then lose turning ability.

    Kagen my question is this... How fast did the 6hp Johnson go? Tight Lines and Full Limits to Ya.! 🎣

      Big K still haven’t ran it full throttle but I was going 9mph at just under half throttle!
