Honestly I kind of wish they would bring back tickets for the ridss, do away with annual passes, lightning lanes, genie, and all the other nickel and dime up charging. I would rather have a relatively low park admission price and use individual ride tickets to help control queue times. I would not mind paying a lot for an enjoyable day at Disneyland where you don't get exhausted by eternal line wait times. Over an hour for peter pan is just not doable for me. Bring Back A, B, C, D, E, and maybe even F tickets for the very top attractions like ROTR, and Temple of the Eternal Wait. I think the result of this would lessen people chaining rides, sending more people to other activities like shows, parades, shopping, etc. and make for a better experience for guests with reduced wait times while being revenue neutral or maybe a little revenue positive for Disney. My wife for example hardly goes on any rides yet she pays the same admission as a teen that will power ride all day long at all the E ticket attractions causing crowds that block families, groups, and lots of other demographics from a good visit, and its those other demographics that spend money in the park so IMHO they are more important to serve.

I mean they didn’t care about the sightlines being ruined when they had the ugly mission breakout tower visible from almost everywhere in the park, so iger probably won’t care this time either. Plus it gives him a chance to re theme the grand Californian hotel to avatar and charge double
Also suspiciously not too long after igers recent announcement the redwood creek area was walled off

Razing Grizzly Peak to put in a new attraction seems like a big fucking endeavor, would ruin the views from the resort’s deluxe hotel and plagues resort guests with construction noise they can hear from their rooms. I think there’s no chance
Razing the Carousel Theater building and Alien Pizza planet would be a lot easier and would give a decent plot of land for something new. And I doubt Space Mountain is going anywhere, so even if the bus turn around gets moved across harbor, any expansion wouldn’t really affect the land between space mountain and Autopia. I still think that’s the best guess for where it will go

    • @dayoldbread1696
      @dayoldbread1696 2 месяца назад +1

@@genappithy would that be enough room though? (Razing the theatre and pizza planet).
Also I don’t think they would completely raze grizzly peak. They would do what iger does best, re theme it. Soarin could just play the flight of passage ride video footage. I know Soarin and flight of passage don’t use the same ride system but they could still have that same general feel of flying. Grizzly river run could be rethemed to Navi river journey. And since the whole grizzly peak area already has a wildlife/nature feel they could just toss some alien looking plans around and call it a day.
I’m not saying I want them to do that but if you think in igers perspective it would be the easiest and fastest option. If he builds it from scratch it’ll take a long while like years, but if he does a re theme it wouldnt take very long. Also Disneyland really has no space for it unless they mess with Tomorrowland which they have shown for a long time that they don’t wanna work on. At California adventure they could either do a grizzly peak re theme or try and cram it in the Hollywood backlot area. I know iger lies or doesn’t keep his promises usually but I don’t think he would announce it this early if it was part of Disneyland forward since that is still very far off.

If they get rid of grizzly peak then this eliminates all possibilities of the Country Bears from returning to Disneyland, this is already in a pretty bad spot since critter country is screwed up after tiana took over splash, this could also have been a possible opportunity to relocated the Winnie the Pooh ride to grizzly peak since he is technically a bear, but whatever California Adventure is no longer what it is so just destroy what isn’t broken

It’s been a huge up in the air question of if the second film really did make as much as what was claimed since it seems not that many people actually saw it. I don’t hate Avatar but I do feel the sequel took far too long to come out. I would like to visit the land at Animal Kingdom and I’m sure I’ll love it. It's crazy people want a land made out of something that only has 2 movies and mediocre ones at that. If they would make a Marvel land actually badass and not half-ass like they did, a phase 2 expansion of it would be well received and even make people crave more media from Marvel.
Let's be honest - Epic Universe is going to be king of the 2020s and phase 2 builds there which are already planned will likely keep it on top till 2030 and beyond. Universal is a better value and is killing it in terms of rides and experiences.

Also that avengers e ticket ride is coming still. Trust me I was already thinking Disney scrapped it again but people have pointed out that Disney can’t cancel it. Because the oriental land company contributed money towards the development of it so Disney is contractually required to have a new avengers ride ready for Hong Kong Disneylands avengers campus.
Even back when it was the quinjet ride (1st iteration before the multiverse ride took its place) it was going to be here at dca first then cloned at Hong Kong Disneyland. So the same thing is still happening for the multiverse ride. Imagineers have been taking measurements and scouting after park closing so something is happening lately. As the case with Cars Land, Avatar Land would make more sense within the framework of DCA, not Disneyland. The park premiering in 2001 remains the weak sister of DL, premiering in 1955. So it needs a major shot in the arm more than DL does. Also, a total net increase instead of a net decrease is needed. That's why nothing major in a Disney park, certainly in land-locked Anaheim, should be eliminated to make way for a new attraction. Splash Mt being replaced by Tiana Bayou Adventure is already bad enough.

As much as I would love to keep the submarines I think they need to go. Autopia and Monorail supports sit on top of the underground show building that I am sure is not structurally sufficient to build on top of, along with the high elevation that would put a future show building too high. It also makes sense since you have the old revolving theater that has not housed a ride since America Sings directly adjacent. So the theater, autopia, subs go, and monorail gets a reroute, and that will open up a massive portion of the park for development and it would make sense to expand fantasyland since more IPs fit that theme than any of the other lands. I would also support the river run going even though a cool off water ride is nice on a summer day. Sadly Disney has used up all of its space (again) so they will soon need to again build on their parking lots and obtain more land to push parking farther from the park, or create a new gate in one of the remote lots.

I agree that it doesn’t have too much of a backing/culture here on west coast/Disneyland. I’m not excited about it and would be mad that the ticket prices would obv go up for a land that isn’t popular- who wants another slow ride? Nobody lol. They should extend fantasyland and bring a frozen land along with the ride that’s at WDW. It would be very popular and goes with the snowy Matterhorn!

Actually if they did a full redo of Tomorrowland and made the space more efficient, I feel like the area of Autopia would actually be alright for Avatar. If they do it right they could still have an underground show building (after rebuilding it) and it could either be more space for Avatar or still be available for Tomorrowland.
Tomorrowland pretty much takes up the entire right side of the park yet it's home to only six full rides so it would make sense to condense and split up.

Taking out a one of a kind classic rides in a park that often fills quickly to add short rides with low capacity doesn’t make sense so Disney will probably do it. Makes more sense to add it to DCA which needs rides for additional capacity makes sense. Be careful comparing Animal Kingdom usage because that park has very few rides to begin with so of course everything Avatar has long lines.

I think that Goofy's Sky School, Silly Symphony Swings, Golden Zeppelins, and Jumpin Jellyfish should be rethemed or replaced by something here are the suggestions
    1. Retheme it into a land area into the Muppets the reason why I say that is that after Disney got rid of Muppet Vision 3-D Disneyland does not have a Muppets themed attraction so I think that the Golden Zeppelins Shoulr be rethemed to Pigs in Space which is from The Muppets Show and mkved near the next attraction is Goofy's Sky School will be rethemed to the Electric Mayhem the attraction has you board the The Electric Mayhem Bus instead of Goofy's plane and the attraction is that the band is driving crazy in L.A. to get to The Muppet Theatre and at the End you make it to the Theatre and the attraction will be the same like Goofy but with a new show scene for the attraction. The Pizza Palace will become Pizza Rizzo from Disney World, the Silly Symphony Swings will be rethemed to Sam the Eagle were you seat that is supposed to be a Air Force plane, and lastly Jumpin Jellyfish will be rethemed to Gonzo where you launch in a cannon and launch in the air.
    2. Demolish the attractions to make way for a land based on FreeGuy because Disneyland does not have a attraction based on the 20th Century Studios IP the land will contain a Ice Cream shop that sells Bubble Gum Ice cream from the film and it contains the main ride using the same Ride system for The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood but instead of a roller coaster car it's the Car that Guy rides on in the film
    3. A land based on Zootopia the main ride will contain the same Ride system for The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood but instead of Rollercoaster cars it's a police officer car the story is that Miss Bellwether escaped from prison and now kidnapped Giselle and your mission is the help Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde help arrested Miss Bellwether and save Giselle and the land will contain shops and some Restaurants.

It makes the most sense to plop it where autopia is. 1. It can be built almost like a bowl shaped stadium, the structure being mountains. If they place the floating mountains correctly, and paint snow on the sides facing the Matterhorn, it would make the Matterhorn BETTER. They could make it so, from the outside, nothing looks like it's floating. That these are just solid mountains from the Pennine Alps. Inside the land, a series of, what then look like floating islands, gradually fade to lighter colors, making the peak of the matterhorn maybe even look like it fits with the theme in pandora too. 2. It's more futuristic than the ancient cars in autopia. You would round the corner and instead of seeing old gas power cars, there would be a spaceship or a mech! This seems win win to me if they can pull off my point 1 artfully. I'll be devastated if they remove grizzly river. I love that area. I agree it could use an IP, but I want it to fit the theme of what is there.

They could make another great motion simulator in Flight of Passage, a great boat/flume ride in Navi River Journey, and maybe even a Rollercoaster or Indiana Jones-esque ride. I never laugh harder and see bigger smiles on my kids than on this ride. The threat of the next splash, the spinning, the sounds- all get spun together in a unique sort of "party ride" where everyone is in it together. And sharing in all of the reactions. I highly recommend it for a lot of fun. I undersand that getting wet and walking around isn't always great. Another banger of a video from Brickey! I don’t think they would put the back of a show building next to the flagship hotel of the resort and compromise the views and vibes. There’s a reason they built it at the old Camp Mickey-Minnie exterior cul du sac of DAK and not right between the Grand Floridian and the castle. Seeing the back of avatar as you drive into the parking lot can already break the magic for some guests.

Wonderful analysis as always. I think they could take soaring and re-theme it to an Avatar soaring experience since it would otherwise be a thematic outlier and yes on Grizzly - which we also will never ride - and take out the play area which is cheap to demolish and they could over take the Ariel ride too - that’s an outlier that doesn’t fit with anything else. The kids play area is lovely and my kids used to play there but it’s not what sells tickets - it was just a place to kill some time (for us). They could add kid interactive avatar elements instead. They can change smoke jumpers into avatar themed restaurant. This land could be big and would deal with a lot of thematically disconnected parts of the Park.

Instead I think they would keep the Grizzly River Run ride but do an extensive retheme to Avatar (like how they did with Splash Mountain/Tiana's Bayou Adventure). They'd also retheme the Redwood Trail and entire Grizzly Peak area to Pandora. Soarin' would be replaced by Flight of Passage, not sure if they would fit it in the current building or make a new one.

There is so many Disneyland rides that they have recreated at Disneyworld that are not received well because they are not the same. As such, it seems like some parks get the lesser attractions, which is what I fear will happen with an Avatar attraction at Disneyland, they don't have the space or the money to make it nearly as grand as Pandora. And that's okay. We don't need it. I just wish they would realize that and do something else, if they insist on tearing up already exisiting attractions.

However Bob said it will possibly happen if Disneyland Forward is approved. To me, sounds like it's still possible it could still be built in the Westside expansion areas by the hotels. Since the moment they announced this, i felt that the Autopia area would be the most logical because of property space.
Disney can take several approaches to the theming.
Same as WDW or focus more in way of water and future movies.
They can also include structures like the base to transition from the green scape to tomorrowland.
I do have to make a comment regarding the submarine show building.
First of all it would make sense to re use and create a new attraction based on avatar. Disney has ride system that can replace what is there and make it a bit more easily accesible for loading and also get a higher percentage of guests thru a new dry/wet ride.
With that said i always hear people say that Autopia sits on top of the show building. That statement is only partially correct.
Originally Autopia was two separate rides. The Fantasyland Autopia and the Tommorowland Autopia.
The Fantasyland Autopia had the largest track that crisscrossed the motorboat waterways.
This Autopia never went over the submarine show building.
The tommorowland Autopia track was the one that went over the sub show building.
That track only traveled north on the far east end of the property had some minor turns and then reversed back again against the eastern side of property.
The submarine building was under that track. The submarine building is basically a very long structure that is just wide enough to allow the sub to run north along the eastern end of property, turn and come back parallel u til it reaches the lagoon.
When they redid tomorrowland and connected the Autopia tracks most of the tracks stayed where they were but instead just did minor alterations to join them.
As for the monorail, yes it would only require a handful of tracks to be replaced to removesthe figure 8 inside loop.
As for theming, we already have the monorail pass thru fantasyland, tomorrowland, hollywood, 1920’s buena vista and condor flats so i think we would be ok passing thru pandora especially since most would go behind the area along harbor and near IASW and around matterhorn.
The station can be rethemed to match one of the Pandora buildings or even once Autopia queue is demolished move the monorail load platform so that it is above the tomorrowland train station where there is a straight away
