Must-Try Mascara for Sensitive Eyes!

As a cosmetic chemist, this mascara is a favourite of mine for sensitive eyes. Here’s a brief look at the science behind this must-try product.
Mascaras are typically a form of emulsion or anhydrous meaning no water. The Tower28 Make Waves Mascara is an emulsion and just by looking at the ingredients, this appears to be a lamellar gel network (LGN).
LGN’s are made using high and low HLB (hydrophilic lipophilic balance) surfactants like Glyceryl Stearate and Palmitic Acid, both are seen in this mascara. This combo remains stable via colloidal structures (tiny insoluble particles of one substance suspended in another) that swell & thicken water.
LGN-style mascaras typically have quick dry times, better wash/wear resistance, and low irritancy potential. They are also favourable for dispersing pigments like the iron oxides seen here.
Tower28 also claims that this is water-resistant and smudge-free, which may be due to the LGN and film-forming capabilities of VP/VA Copolymer & Polyimide-1.
The waxes in this mascara give your lashes volume and include Carnauba wax & Sunflower seed wax. Shorea Robusta Resin is also in here and I suspect this is a blend with tocopherol & ascorbyl palmitate. This trio is called Kahlwax and often used as a substitute for Candelila wax which is another popular one.
The ratio of hard and soft waxes keep your lashes fluffy, but won’t make them look stiff.

I was so skeptical of this one, but it’s so good for my sensitive eyes! I have eczema around my eyes too so I usually hate taking mascara off but this one’s awesome for it, and it doesn’t smudge when I cry somehow, I think bc it’s tubing mascara
