Can we acknowledge the efforts and courage for Robert Guillaume to recover from his stroke to be an Emmy presenter; his ovation from the audience was inspiring....
Great group of Nominees. Dennis Franz is really something. Andy Sipowicz is my all time favorite TV character. His evolution before our eyes over the years was really something to see. Love this actor, and this character.
My wife and i started watching the entire series when the pandemic started. After Jimmy Smits left the show and the opening titles said “Staring Dennis Franz” i teared up a bit. Sipowicz is NYPD Blue and it was awesome to see him be the star after getting named second the years before.
I watched this live when I was a kid because my mom liked him and NYPD blue . I always remember this speech and how humble he was "I was comfortable in my chair." Even though he had won this award several times before he was still shocked to learn he won again in a very stacked year.
Dennis Franz is a great actor. He first was Detective DeBennedeto on Hill Street Blues. He was killed off and came back as Detective Buntz. He is believable as a Police Officer too. I enjoy his character, I still watch reruns of both shows, He is the best !
woah woah woah did I see both Ricky Schroder (Sorenson) and Jimmy Smits (Simone) now that is gold !!! and congrats Mister Franz to be fair they don't make shows like they did in the 90's Law and Order, The Practice E R and Nypd Blue , all of you people involved in these shows are legends
Of all the memorable performances Franz delivered as Sipowicz, the one I recall most is his interrogation of a suspect where he references " Groundhog Day." In that scene, Franz standing and staring at Cullinan as he's questioned by his partner is mesmerizing. " You keep doing evil and hiding inside your money..." Sipowicz says and brilliantly reduces the man to a snivelling mess. A tour de force!
James Gandalfini is one or the greatest of all time and one of the best to ever do it but what Franz was able to accomplish within the confines of network tv was truly remarkable
His fourth win? I am surprised but not surprised. He is one of the greatest TV actors of all time, NYPD Blue is the best show of all time, in any genre.
Damned if he isn't a class act. To to hear him say he expect Jimmy Smits to recieve it was well said, but to recognize the other nominees as well for there work as well.
I know it was a while ago, but he must have been thrilled to pick up this award, based on the quality of the people he was nominated with. The part of Andy was the perfect everyman role, flawed and perfect.
Good to see Tony Soprano be so happy for Andy Sipowicz lol. Two incredible larger than life actors. Makes you wonder what it would've been like if Tony Soprano went up against Andy Sipowicz. Who'd win that battle?
Loved Andy's characters from the first episode to the last, and who other than Dennis Franz could have played this role? same could said about James Gandolfini. As for tv crime shows nypd blue one of the all time best.
Franz was so good in the role of Andy, that I stopped watching NYPD Blue because of him. I loved Andy. I stopped watching because I could no longer stand to see him in pain.
Dennis Franz really did deserve this,
He earned it. Thank you Dennis
The character Andy Sipowicz is one of the best TV characters of all time & Dennis Fanz portrays him amazingly.
THE BEST!
Can we acknowledge the efforts and courage for Robert Guillaume to recover from his stroke to be an Emmy presenter; his ovation from the audience was inspiring....
Never was disappointed to see him in a tv show or a movie. A great actor and a true professional.
Great group of Nominees. Dennis Franz is really something. Andy Sipowicz is my all time favorite TV character. His evolution before our eyes over the years was really something to see. Love this actor, and this character.
I still watch the show, all 12 years, over and over again. It is the best series ever made!
I SO agree
Same here
Totally agree
Time well spent. I see new details each time I watch.
@@kathyduby8150 And the small part actors were excellent!
This guy is a class act when he takes a moment to also acknowledge the other nominees for their superb work.
And best of all no politics
I also thought that was very classy of him. Much different than the Slob Cops Dennis usually plays.
My wife and i started watching the entire series when the pandemic started. After Jimmy Smits left the show and the opening titles said “Staring Dennis Franz” i teared up a bit. Sipowicz is NYPD Blue and it was awesome to see him be the star after getting named second the years before.
I did the same. It was bitter-sweet to see him finally get top billing.
Watching reruns on YT all over again and missing NYC from Puerto Rico.
Thank you Dennis and company.
Just the most humble guy, a Vietnam Vet, hero , & immensely talented actor.
This was his fourth and last Emmy for the role and yet his best work in the role was yet to come. Tremendous actor playing a tremendous character.
Dennis Franz & James Gandolfini.....acting GIANTS. They brought to life two of the most memorable characters in modern television history.
Tells you what a great & groundbreaking show Blue was to have 2 actors nominated in the same category. Still the best network drama of all time.
A classy man...
I retired from the NYPD in early 2010 after 22 years. We called the outfit Mr. Franz wore on the show, "The Sipowicz".
Nice!
Wow... nice kudos. 👊👍
Wow 2 of my top all time favorite shows. NYpD blue & the Sopranos. Love u Jimmy
I watched this live when I was a kid because my mom liked him and NYPD blue . I always remember this speech and how humble he was "I was comfortable in my chair." Even though he had won this award several times before he was still shocked to learn he won again in a very stacked year.
As JJ said a classy man. Poor Robert Guillaume, you could see he was struggling after his stroke. Another very classy gentleman!!!
I got all choked up watching this just now. Damn but I sure do miss NYPD Blue and especially Denis Franz.
Well deserved. One of the best characters arcs in TV history from the first episode to the last.
R.I.P. Robert Guillaume and James Gandolfini
Dennis Franz was amazing as Sipowicz!! A terrific actor!!! An actor's actor!!
Dennis Franz is a great actor. He first was Detective DeBennedeto on Hill Street Blues. He was killed off and came back as Detective Buntz. He is believable as a Police Officer too. I enjoy his character, I still watch reruns of both shows, He is the best !
I just finished watching the hillstreet series and he was awesome
And Dressed To Kill. !
Seeing Andy and Bobby hugging touched me.
Dennis Franz is an amazing actor well deserved.
He seems a very humble man.
OMG these were some of the best actors Tv has ever seen! wow
Robert Guillaume was a man of class. Rest in Heaven, Benson DuBois.
Simone & Sorenson standing for him! Love it!
That was very cool.., talk about a shout out of respect.👍😁
Danny is a hugely underrated character.
What a humble and talented man
woah woah woah did I see both Ricky Schroder (Sorenson) and Jimmy Smits (Simone) now that is gold !!! and congrats Mister Franz to be fair they don't make shows like they did in the 90's Law and Order, The Practice E R and Nypd Blue , all of you people involved in these shows are legends
Truly one of the greatest actors in the history of television. He deserved all of these awards.
Wow! He beat out some heavy hitters. Well deserved.
Dennis Franz is a class act all the way.
My favorite show and favorite character.
James Gandolfini seemed really proud of him. It would have been cool seeing those two work together.
I'd want Andy to solve my crime. There's acting..., and then there's Dennis. His award was/is well deserved. I was pleased to see that. 🙂
To watch his character on nypd blue and see him outside the role as himself. That shows you what an actor is.
James Gandalfini is one or the greatest of all time and one of the best to ever do it but what Franz was able to accomplish within the confines of network tv was truly remarkable
I loved NYPD Blue. Great drama. Great reality show.
No ego. Pure class.
I am watching every episode starting with season 1 on Netflix. Love his character!
They sure made some great tv shows at one time
Excellent lineup of nominees.
The master. End of discussion!!!
This my favorite cousin Dennis Franz who I love with all my heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Love seeing Jimmy Smits there to congratulate him.
His fourth win? I am surprised but not surprised. He is one of the greatest TV actors of all time, NYPD Blue is the best show of all time, in any genre.
happy 70th birthday dennis franz !!!!
I just binged watched all 20 series from beg to end....Im officially sad its over....this show is the best ever!!!
Damned if he isn't a class act. To to hear him say he expect Jimmy Smits to recieve it was well said, but to recognize the other nominees as well for there work as well.
Watching this now on Disney +
Great job Dennis. And you look fantastic in your suit.
Dennis Franz has great acting on NYPD Blue: season 6.
I know it was a while ago, but he must have been thrilled to pick up this award, based on the quality of the people he was nominated with. The part of Andy was the perfect everyman role, flawed and perfect.
Hell of an ensemble of nominees that year.
Incredibly talented actor!
What a GREAT actor
Good to see Tony Soprano be so happy for Andy Sipowicz lol. Two incredible larger than life actors. Makes you wonder what it would've been like if Tony Soprano went up against Andy Sipowicz. Who'd win that battle?
The competition here was fierce.
Loved Andy's characters from the first episode to the last, and who other than Dennis Franz could have played this role? same could said about James Gandolfini. As for tv crime shows nypd blue one of the all time best.
He's an actor from seventies show Bensen :-)
He was Benson.
An he also voiced Rafiki in The Lion King.
i hope never, but if i ever need a detective, i want sipowicz to solve my problem 😁
Quite the nomination list there. Andy beat Tony Soprano and McCoy for the win, shows you the respect he had among his peers.
His work was so good in HIll Street Blues...I always enjoyed episodes that featured him.
100% agree
Franz was so good in the role of Andy, that I stopped watching NYPD Blue because of him. I loved Andy. I stopped watching because I could no longer stand to see him in pain.
Sipowicz, greatest tv cop ever.
Truly a wonderful professional actor who transformed cops into human beings.
this guy is one of my oldest tv memories
And we all lived happily ever after.
Who else would've liked to see Andy Sipowicz and Tony Soprano cross paths?
Hard call with James and Jmmy there
We as cousins love each other no matter what 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉.
Great Actor.
I was watching this before i’d even heard of Milch or boschco Great show. Milch is a genius. Sad to see hear he is now ill
What a sweet humble guy
Wonder what would happen between Sipowicz and Tony Soprano.
One or three things…
nydp forever !!!! from brazil
Very classy of Jimmy Smits to chase him down and give him a hug. Too bad David Caruso wasn't there or willing to do that for him as well.
It's so odd hearing Franz talk like a regular person than like his character.
Seldom have I seen such class in this situation.
I’ve been a fan of this show since Hill Street Blues. Onya Dennis mate
Best Cop show ever made
Loved Dennis Franz on NYPD Blue , that said Jimmy Smits was robbed. Dennis won 5 to Jimmy’s zip. I just can’t believe that .
Big fan of Dennis Franz.
he was class in die hard 2 an all.
so well deserved
Class ACTOR, Class show that will live in infamy 🇺🇸💙💙
TRUE BLUE LINE
Could you imagine NYPD Blue Sopranos crossover
Fr********* Brilliant !!!! Dennis Franz !!!!
RIP Robert Guillaume.
Wow… murderers row of lead actors.
Went to a great actor
Robt: very brave and honorable. Yea, Sam and Dennis!
Best show , hands down
Love Andy
Tony's like "I'm gonna get that cop later on"
Love Dennis Franz, but Gandolfini in The Sopranos season 1 is astonishing. Should have won unanimously.
Why the rest of the nominees looks disappointed? Was Dennis was the frontrunner or a surprise winner?
Benson!
he don't od commercials
A class act.
