Hi there !! I was a late bloomer too .... I went back to school after my father passed away... Thinking what do I want to do with my life? After him watching him fade in the ICU and seeing how the ICU nurses acted I decided 3 years later....... I could be an ICU Nurse .... so I started to take pre requisites for the R.N. That was 11 years ago... I am almost there but not quite... However; I have been studying, for the past 6 years ... 2 nursing schools starting in 2012 .. and now a 3rd... Nursing School is looking like August ..... I have been studying every R.N. I have gotten my youtube on for the last 5 plus years.... Thank You for your story.... :)
Facts. It creates an impossible situation and I understand the frustration. There are people I've known and clients as well who have been able to land jobs in which they beat out the competition who had experience. If you are able to communicate the value you bring, most teams are willing to train. People almost always want to hire for personality as this can't be taught like technical skills can. The trick is in interviewing better than the competition.
Thank you Bree! I have an on-site coming up. I am trying hard to prepare for this from how to answer questions, what to wear because I want to change it up from a business dress to a pants suit. Thoughts on that? I did change my resume and added my clinical hours and tidbits on my experiences so that I can elaborate more during the face to face interview. I try being myself and at this point I have interviewed a fair amount and mostly I am asked similar questions so I am not as nervous.
I love your outlook. Viewing previous interviews as experience in interviewing rather than failed efforts is extremely positive and it’s important to maintain confidence. You’re being prepared for the right fit to come along. As far as dress, yes pantsuit would be appropriate.

Love your videos! But the background music is distracting
Thank you for this feedback!
I think the biggest problem is the medical groups want nurse practitioners with experience.
