1:36 I mean the idea of eliminating the small size and the plus where they would meet the size in between wouldn't be far off of an idea considering sales are pretty good. The fact that iPhone 16 has gotten bigger too, slowly meeting the size of what the S24 size is currently is an evidence.
Instead, they should scrap the plus variant. Which is very close to the Ultra variant and people who wish to buy the plus model would anyway buy the Ultra variant because of similar cost.
I think the Plus and Ultra are pretty similar in size, especially with the new curved corners on the S25 Ultra. I reckon they should make the S25 a bit bigger, like around 6.4 or 6.5 inches, and give it the same specs as the Ultra. Then they could just get rid of the Plus altogether. That way, we'd have two different sizes with top-notch features in both. 👌🏻
Samsung is doing this cause their A series outsells their S by a lot and the recent A series are on par with their base S series, doing this will push consumers to either buy their A series or their plus and ultra models, Samsung is starting to fell the pinch of having 5 different variants, they got the M, A, S, flip and fold but people are picking more Chinese brands over them, I'm not surprised if they discontinue their flip and fold phones seeing how competitive the offerings are from other brands like Honor, Xiaomi and Vivo
Plus variant is just ultra but worse they should scrap it and give good features to base so it's a choice of small or big but you still get more with ultra cause of s pen and stuff Otherwise im just gonna keep my s24 for a while
The compact phone is not about price. I love it for the size! If they sold the same spec as the plus but the company size for more. It would be my pick!
No doubt...Still People looking for slimmer and small sized phone atleast in India.on Flipkart S23 cost around INR 38000.Which means samsung does not want to sell premium phones at this price point.I think beacause of that, they won't go for S26 and smaller sized OLED panel costs more that bigger ones. They will probably also consider this point.
I would say bring back the a70 series add 2 features a high end phone would have and cancel S plus range. Have a smaller S series and the note variant. Maybe.
Just launch the s25 base variant with snapdragon chipset and watch the sale go skyrocket. The only thing that restricts people from buying s24 is the chipset. S23 is still rocking the sales 2 years later.
Googles ai is a big advantage over apple, they need to release stuff asap. Also they should keep certain ai features like say in gmail and all exclusive to android or google and samsung phones. Too much free stuff for apple and its users. If they gatekeep stuff, android/google needs to too. Its a shame that a company as massive and omnipresent as google is behind apple when it comes to worth.
What they need to do is make the Ultra the Note again and keep the S base and Plus models. The base and plus should be the same specs. The only difference should be screen size.
Can't wait to see what they have for the 25+. It's the goldilocks zone for me as the ultra has felt way too bulky, and the normal S phone too damn small to play my mobile games. Also hoping the snapdragon variant will be the only variant available for the 25 lineup
I hope not. I have has the s20, s21, s22, and am currently on s23. didn't get s24 because it was not worth to spend the 400 bucks for no upgrade. I like my s23 too. its still extremely solid. Best phone I've had out of all of them. Yes, the battery life is starting to get worse but its 1.5 years old. I am probably going to upgrade to the s25 if this rumor is true or not due to battery and I'm tight on storage. I hope they keep the base S-series. I personally see more people with the base rather than the plus. What they could do is make it $900 and bring over a couple of the plus features to justify the price increase. I really like the size of the phone. It used to be a massive phone but now small. I cam use it all with only one hand. It fits well in my pocket and isn't a big glass brick.
Dropping the "premium" emphasis on a phone that is - at a huge stretch - far from *premium*, Samsung could drop the nonsensically and pointless FE in favour of positioning the s24 as a budget option for what would otherwise be the s25. I mean, cutting production for another device with marketing, R&D, and manufacturing ultimately would be saving money to invest in making the more streamlined product line better. I never quite understood why Samsung is so adamant on homogonising design language, yet segmenting it so needlessly that most don't care nor asked for the option to their detriment. I guess Samsung may presumably kinda do that in a roundabout way by keeping the FE, but the whole reason behind it just seems pointless as outlined in how it is positioned considering 'FE' is by no means a big seller or for any fans that would have otherwise just bought into the product line it is sharing design language with, but is by far the superior product. I could forgive it if it were a device suitably marketed as a budget device for normal people who don't care about flagships. Nonetheless, the upside to streamlined products is more clarity for less enthusiast-centric audiences and better ease of software rollouts, and maybe even better software optimisation with quicker rollouts to boot.
Hi Sal , I remember that ice universe said that samsung should drop the s pen from the note line , got to be one of the most ridiculous things to say ever. 😂😂😂 as long as they keep the ultra and the s pen ,I'll be happy ,it probably makes sense, as smaller phones don't hold as much appeal now , perhaps shrink the plus size down a bit ,but not too much
Yeah, I remember that take from Ice Universe! 😂 It’s wild to think about the Note without the S Pen-kind of defeats the whole purpose, right? I think the S Pen is what makes the Ultra stand out, and dropping it would be a bad move. As for phone sizes, I totally agree. Bigger screens are what most people are after these days, and shrinking the Plus model would only make sense if they can still pack in the good stuff. But yeah, Ice Universe definitely has some... out there ideas that don’t really reflect what most users want.
Ice universe is right. Samsung still gonna use 5 years old camera sensors on their upcoming base models. These are literally craps. Samsung still relies on computational photography which is a 2019 thing. Apple and chinese manufacturers provide way better hardware in their flagships that's why those take better photos and videos now than Samsung. Samsung only upgrades hardware to their ultra model each year. So i think Samsung should stop manufacturing the base model and plus model. Focus just on ultra.
I think it's a better strategy to have a 2 model S-line up. Have the S24 and S24 Ultra. Basically the S24 taking up all what the Plus had but in a fixed form factor with a competitive price. Then have the Ultra that pushes all boundaries. And then around current day FE launch have an S-FE launch that is similar to the 'new base' S-line but just glasstic back, lesser hardware overall. People that buy S24 now just don't want to pay the price bump to the Ultra and the Plus gives no reasonable upgrade. (Only for some) So in short, they need to settle on a good size, make that the base, scrap the Plus and make the FE a real FE again. And people who truly want a small phone.. well shop elsewhere or maybe give them an option in the A-line up.. honestly those people already have the flip if they think about it. I honestly think they just getting rid off 'the 3rd phone' .. just a 2 phone S-line up and the base will absorb a lot and change a lot. Might also take them a gen or 2-3 to settle on the right size for the 'new base'.
I think its a bad decision if they remove the base variant. Majority of people really choose plus and ultra because of more additional features. But in the end, as an experienced samsung user, i still prefer compact but high end phones. My last phone from samsung is galaxy note 10 lite. But due to heavy composition of the unit, the display still breaks due to unexpected circumstances. Recently i have xiaomi 12 5g. Its lightweight, compact but high end device. Its highly similar to s8-s9 variant but the only difference is it has multiple camera. The only issue about the phone is thermal management.
S26 should be 6.5-6.7" S26 Ultra 6.8" So S26 FE can be the compact size between 6.1-6.3". This makes more sense instead of the base flagship competing with the FE currently.
I hate big phones since i had the a52 its way too big and clumsy, the s24 has almost the perfect size, it could just be a bit wider and then it would be perfect
No matter what gets cut Samsung needs to streamline their number of products. Way too many similar phones made by then. Doing that will lower their overheads.
People saying scrap the plus model should also understand Tiny % of population prefer smaller size. They should add some more features to make the plus model seem appealing.
Mmm...no I dont think thats the way to do it. I've always said there is an Android phone for everybody, and the reason for that is because there's so many of them at every price point to choose from. Getting rid of the base model gets rid of the customers who want decent modern tech, nothing too crazy but at the decent prices. This is confusing to me 🤔
I don't understand how Samsung did a great job with the Exynos processor in the S10 series but then made a mess out of the exynos processor in subsequent release
Great. They’ll be further directly conceding a portion of their customer base to Apple who will continue to make a small phone with top features cause they’ve learned by now it’s the highest selling size. Most people don’t have a need for a size increase as such and want something that is easy to hold and light to use.
It might be a smart move and let the plus lead the line up. However, some think it's the end of the s25 ultra or ultra in general. Which means a total revamp of a new and better phone, etc.
If the base model had all of the features the ultra does then i would for sure go for the base model, but i prefer smaller phones but go for the ultra because of all the extra features it has
Since S is samsungs flagships, they should be just that, drop the ultra, and move the S pen to foldables, S + gets bigger to slide into the S Ultra slot with a 6.8" screen, and all the S Ultra features except the pen, and the normal S gets all the same features, but a smaller screen and battery and remains around 6.2" Then they should bring out a midrange series, say E series, and that is the slightly cut down normal iPhone competitor, also with the number matching the year, then the A series should be midrange with a focus on user experience (take a page out of CMFs page), also matching number, and with an even cheaper phone that just is a phone at a great price, one camera eitherside, and a decent battery, and then foldables also the same number. So the lineup 2026 would be, from top to bottom: Z Fold 26, Z Flip 26, S26+, S26, E26+, E26, A26+, A26, A26 Lite or something like that, a whole lot simpler than today
If the Specs are too closely matched between phones people will go for the cheaper option. So either they get rid of the plus and keep the base model at the same price or get rid of the base model and make the Plus a $100 cheaper.

Plus variant is just ultra but worse they should scrap it and give good features to base so it's a choice of small or big but you still get more with ultra cause of s pen and stuff
Otherwise im just gonna keep my s24 for a while
The compact phone is not about price.
You're definitely right about ice universe. A lot of his takes have been ridiculous for awhile now.
Googles ai is a big advantage over apple, they need to release stuff asap. Also they should keep certain ai features like say in gmail and all exclusive to android or google and samsung phones. Too much free stuff for apple and its users. If they gatekeep stuff, android/google needs to too. Its a shame that a company as massive and omnipresent as google is behind apple when it comes to worth.
big mistake, compact phones are the best!
My favorite phone is still the s8, mainly due to its size. I just like the size of the standard S series phone
What they need to do is make the Ultra the Note again and keep the S base and Plus models. The base and plus should be the same specs. The only difference should be screen size.
If they do cancel the base S26 it would make the FE more worth while, however the FE comes out way later then the S26 models
😂😂😂 as long as they keep the ultra and the s pen ,I'll be happy ,it probably makes sense, as smaller phones don't hold as much appeal now , perhaps shrink the plus size down a bit ,but not too much
Noway they actually said that. 😂🤣💀⚰️⚰️☠️⚰️💀
@@nerfgodbigguy1405 yes he did , drop the s pen from a phone that has note taking as its main feature .😂😂😂
@@sparx2391 🤣 , do you think he still thought it should not have the pen if it continued?
Yeah, I remember that take from Ice Universe! 😂 It’s wild to think about the Note without the S Pen-kind of defeats the whole purpose, right? I think the S Pen is what makes the Ultra stand out, and dropping it would be a bad move. As for phone sizes, I totally agree. Bigger screens are what most people are after these days, and shrinking the Plus model would only make sense if they can still pack in the good stuff. But yeah, Ice Universe definitely has some... out there ideas that don’t really reflect what most users want.
@@nerfgodbigguy1405 probably 😂
may be chip prices. have you seen the estimated cost of the snapdragon gen 4.
@@wasiahmed1547 thing is hardware peaked onlty thing left is software
1:33 wow i did not expect that the ultra is sold that much. I thought it was a niche next to the normal and the plus one
They now only need 2 options. A basic smaller option or the bigger Ultra. But the future is now in foldables.
S26 should be 6.5-6.7"
S26 Ultra 6.8"
So S26 FE can be the compact size between 6.1-6.3".
This makes more sense instead of the base flagship competing with the FE currently.
I hate big phones since i had the a52 its way too big and clumsy, the s24 has almost the perfect size, it could just be a bit wider and then it would be perfect
I want s24 be even a bit narrower
6.2in is the perfect size, I hope they don’t cancel it
The plus and ultra should merge together. Give the ultra stuff but the frame of the plus. Increase the sizing of the regular a smidgen.
This is confusing to me 🤔
I just bought the S24 base model specifically because it has a smaller screen. Getting rid of this variant would be a big mistake by Samsung.
What am I suppose to buy if they discontinue the s base 😢
Samsung is better in their edge series design and glass. Wish they would bring it back
I think the phone industry needs a shakeup
The only thing wrong with em is the prices. Ultra $999, +$799, base $599.
For me, samsung should make plus variant have same specs as ultra except no s pen compatibility
Watching for Ghana 🇬🇭🇬🇭
It might be a smart move and let the plus lead the line up. However, some think it's the end of the s25 ultra or ultra in general. Which means a total revamp of a new and better phone, etc.
What will be the expected build quality for 25 base its titanium or regular armor 🤔
Aluminium
Hot take: Smaller phone is easier to handle. Gonna gun for the S25 if it's the last small phone
I'm getting the Ultra. It doesn't matter to me.
Not everyone likes big phones..this is a bold move for samsung😢
Base model needs to be bit larger inbetween 6.2 to 6.7. it's like 6.4 with thinner bezel makes it perfect compact phone even for Gaming
If the base model had all of the features the ultra does then i would for sure go for the base model, but i prefer smaller phones but go for the ultra because of all the extra features it has
I don't want a big phone, I don't want the S25 to be poor
They could scrap the base S26 & have the 26 FE replace it but adding some minor features differently from the main S series
Since S is samsungs flagships, they should be just that, drop the ultra, and move the S pen to foldables, S + gets bigger to slide into the S Ultra slot with a 6.8" screen, and all the S Ultra features except the pen, and the normal S gets all the same features, but a smaller screen and battery and remains around 6.2"
Then they should bring out a midrange series, say E series, and that is the slightly cut down normal iPhone competitor, also with the number matching the year, then the A series should be midrange with a focus on user experience (take a page out of CMFs page), also matching number, and with an even cheaper phone that just is a phone at a great price, one camera eitherside, and a decent battery, and then foldables also the same number.
So the lineup 2026 would be, from top to bottom: Z Fold 26, Z Flip 26, S26+, S26, E26+, E26, A26+, A26, A26 Lite or something like that, a whole lot simpler than today
I was thinking something similar. Samsung should hire you
If this is true then thanks to Samsung, it was good to use their products 🙏
If the Specs are too closely matched between phones people will go for the cheaper option.
So either they get rid of the plus and keep the base model at the same price or get rid of the base model and make the Plus a $100 cheaper.
My note 10 was the perfect size to hold and was built in the same shape like my 22u I miss that little powerful guy
Keep the plus model ultra to big
Thank you for calling out Ice. I've been following him for a long time and used to really like him, but his continuing downward spiral into madness is just sad to watch. Excuse my wording here but he is genuinely one of the most delusional, hypocritical and full of double standards people I know.
His leaks are really great, but whenever he is talking opinions I always ignore them because he is just a big China shill (except for when he can make money from affeliate links).
Sad stuff. Great video as always!
Totally agree with you. Ice has provided some solid leaks over the years, but yeah, his opinions have definitely become harder to take seriously. It's sad to see how things have changed with him. Appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
@@TechTalkTV He didn't use to be like this, I wonder what happened. I think it's similar to Batman going insane after losing the Joker. Donald Trump went insane after losing Joe Biden. Ice Universe went insane after losing DJ Koh 🤣 (hard to blame him, Samsung is also going on a bit of a downfall with TM Roh).
Ofc I enjoyed the video, you are one of the few people in this space whose news, opinions and takes I can always seem to trust. Never giving in to brand bias or selling out. That's what I really respect about you and why I've never missed a single video since I started watching you around 2017. I also think it's incredible that you still take time to engage with the comments even after becoming such a large channel.
Keep it up man, you're awesome!
Spen is very useful
@@YarakaOfficial And techtalk and you are big samsung shills. What's your point lol
I don't understand. Why people hate small (now medium) phones so much? everyone I speak with want a small phone, but companies continue to state that even medium-sized phones are not competitive now.
My hands are big. So for a small phone, not my choice. If this rumor is true, I hope that the S26 FE will be given an LTPO screen & stereo speakers tuned by AKG. Maybe it can also give a better build quality. For other specifications, it's considered good in my opinion. As for the price, maybe between the normal model & FE.
