Albrechtsberger was a very skilled composer for choral and instrumental music; in the end of his life Mozart suggested him as a so-called capellmeister at the St. Steven's Cathedral in Vienna because he said, the he was best and skilled organist in the end of 18th century. => thank you for sharing this hidden treasure!
Very amusing piece that is astonishing from a composer whose image has often been associated with that of a pedantic, yet effective, teacher and a rétro composer not particularly innovative. This one is quite a funny and enjoyable concertino, not a masterpiece but pleasant to be listened (in Albrechtsberger's chamber music and sacred compositions, as well as keyboard ones we can find his best, often excellent pieces). Especially interesting the use of an instrument I couldn't identify but that sounds somehow similar to the jaw harp a simple generator of vibrations through air emitted by mouth and a trigger manoeuvred by a finger of one hand while the other hand keeps jaw harp stuck to the mouth. It's very popular in Sicily and used in folk songs, though its capability to generate tunes is almost null (just creates atmosphere and depending on tongue positioning can generate couple of notes only, yet with vague intonation).
@@Reciclassicat thanks much. Just checked on Wikipedia and, bingo, Maultrommel is exactly the Sicilian Jaw Harp. This poses interesing consequences as of cultural existing interchange between South Italy and Austria popular music already 300 years ago ... Excellent matter for deep dive ....
@@DavidA-ps1qr Hi David how are you? Thanks. Maybe both ...... Just conjuring up Saint-Saëns Carnival des Animaux who was also sort of laugh from a great master often accused to be pedantic ..... but who wrote just sublime music ...... stil searching for Louis Cherubini laugh ..... LOL couldn't identify any ...... but also alligations onto him of pedantic music are completely unjust

Fantástico concerto com Berimbau de Boca (Jew's Harp). Na época instrumentos raros como esse, a Viela de Roda, Gaitas de Foles e outros estavam em moda, havia um gosto pelo campestre e diferente.
Great work 😍😍😍😍 but one little Thing to the discription i think it is a painting/ Vedute of Canaletto and the painting Shows the Altmarkt in Dresden in the background in the middle you See the Dome of the Frauenkirche on the leftside you See the tower of the Courtchurch in Dresden backround
I think it's a really wonderful, fantasy-filled song. It was said that there are three concertos for Johann Georg Albrechtsberger's Jew's harp and Mandora, but I have F major and E major, and I am happy to have a concerto in D major. Beethoven's mentor, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, is one of the most favorite composers of the pre-classical period and is highly regarded alongside Mozart's father, Leopold Mozart.
But he shouldn't have been. Beethoven went to Vienna to be taught by Haydn, but finished up having a row with him because he would mark his exercises on time!! Haydn got fed up too and pushed him onto Albrechtsberger, and the rest is more or less history. :-)
Never having heard Albrechtsberger's music before, I was not expecting that!
Musique, ma vie ! Celle-ci est charmante.
Soloists on this Recording:
Albin Paulus: Jaw Harps
Pietro Prosser: Mandora
Bellissimo e molto originale.

You are absolutely correct Pietro, I wonder if Albrechtsberger was experimenting using unusual instruments or just having a laugh! :-)

IMHO, it has no Canaletto style at all... The painter is Johann Christian Brand (1722-1795) - Aussicht von der Albrechtsburg in Klosterneuburg (1787)

Was'nt he the teacher of beethoven?
yes, of course!
