Very spot on. I own a 2023 Lowrider ST and spent more money on parts remedying issues from the factory like blow by. It’s not even fun riding my bike knowing the amount of money it’ll cost to maintain. I do my own work, but regardless going to the dealership is ridiculous. I’ll need new tires soon and I Know HD would charge an arm and a leg.

This is dumb. Either do your own maintenance or realize that dealer maintenance cost money, a lot of money. It's that simple.

I've owned several Harley's and come to realize you have to expect less than stellar performance value. First one I bought was an 883, while stationed in Germany. Being used to 750 Japanese bikes, I expected it to perform similarly but it was shockingly slow. 2nd was a 2008 Dyna and I learned the single disc up front wasn't really up to the task of slowing such a big bike, (in relation to their competitors). That said, I owned several more because they look and sound awesome and can be changed to meet an individual's need. Road King I owned was the best touring bike I've ever ridden. The motorcycle equivalent of a Buick or Caddie.

Dealerships are all the same, all over the world. Customer service is long gone it's about how much they can squeeze out of you ; especially when it comes too services. I'm in the UK and have had the same experience

  • @veefour57

I would think if you'd paid for servicing in advance then a copy of the paperwork would be given to you. A bill of sale for the bike would list the OTD price and any extras such as the handlebar swap, service plan etc. would be itemised. Who pays a dealer 20k+ and doesn't get a reciept for the cash?

I would never take my bike to a Harley dealership. It's too old they won't work on it. But what did you get done exactly for $950.00?

It has nothing to do with Harley Davidson. Sometimes you might get a bike that needs a lot of work not to dealership’s fault.

I’ve been hearing that a lot of Harley dealers employ people who are not even passionate about the brand. They often ride other brands or not even ride at all. And many are aware of the tricks they dealers force them to use on costomers

This was a GREAT alternative video to the one you made earlier-by not seeing the speaker, the focus becomes the SERVICE OF THE DEALERSHIP. Great idea! ; )

What's funny is I hear the same comments from half the guys I ride with but most of them still keep giving their money away to HD. Those in the comment section blah, blahing away about "doing your own maintenance" need to take a seat. The majority of Harley riders out there don't even own a ratchet set let alone have an assortment of tools, let alone have a dedicated space to work on a bike, let alone have the mechanical ability to work on one.
Why do you think near the end of the riding season you all of a sudden see HD showroom floors filled up with used, modded Harleys? Because guys go out, buy a Harley, pay someone to deck it out, then when they've had their fun pretending to be Peter Fonda they drop these bikes like hot potatoes before they break down.
The bottom line: Misery loves company. You're not a 'real biker' in their eyes unless you're sitting right next to these HD riders racking your brains trying to figure out how to keep your bike on the road for more than 1500 miles without worrying about catastrophic engine failure or flipping through telephone book-sized catalogs wasting money trying to completely reinvent your own bike.
While we're at it let's really be real here. Beyond changing the oil, air filter or the spark plugs most of you don't know how to true a crankshaft, perform cylinder honing, clutch work etc. so stop bragging about doing your own work. It doesn't make you any more of a man than watching Easy Rider will make you more of a biker.
Furthermore, if you think the dealership service bay is going to save your riding experience chances are you're wrong there too. I know too many guys, even the ones who dropped money on extended warranties, who have had horrible service experiences. too many guys have had their warranty claims denied because their techs didn't know how to properly diagnose or repair their bikes. It comes down to if your area has 3 or more dealerships only 1 out of those 3 are going to have techs knowledgable and experienced enough to fix your bike right the first time. And again let's be real here. You can research any other motorcycle manufacturer--Other than BMW and Ducati you're not going to hear a fraction of the problems from their customers like what you hear from HD owners.
A motorcycle is a simple machine in comparison to an automobile. It should not be that complicated and maintenance intensive to keep a motorcycle running. But you talk to an HD owner and they'll have you believing you're less than a man if you can't completely tear down your bike and repair it like a professional when half the Harley techs who do this 6 days a week as a profession can't do it. If they could HD dealerships wouldn't be fazing out service to older bikes. Half these HD dealership service bays have repeat customers because their techs couldn't fix the bike right the first, second or third time.

Ichange all the fluids and filter myself. Harley Davidson charges top $ prices for crap work. H D is addicted to easy money like a junkie on cheap horse.l never had a dealer do anything but mounting tires. Don't pay them $200 to change the oil. Do it yourself and save money.

My sentiments exactly!! I have an 18 Road King special industrial grey color and I love the bike and its my 6th Harley and I bought it brand new. After the extended warranty expired I now take it to my own independent mechanic who charges half the price then the rip off dealership does and does more for me. All my other Harleys before that one I bought used and put all the money I saved to make them the way I want them still at almost half the cost of buying a brand new one. From now on I will buy used Harleys and then spend the $$$ thousands $$$ I save and make the bike the way I want it. Also they stopped making the iconic bikes and some of the others like the Sport glide which are great bikes and now sticking to just a few models. F*uck you Harley!!!!!!! I will buy your used bikes and then take them to my own mechanic and never give your dealerships any more money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the "new" Harley Davidson. The motor company has priced the bikes, the parts, and the service out of the wallets of the people that have made Harley Davidson a household name. Go buy an older bike, along with a service manual.

Need to find yourself a decent mechanic in the area if you’re not happy with your dealership. The bikes nowadays generally don’t need much at all. And they should’ve went through the bill with you why you paid extra you don’t just pay extra every time.Lol

@@richardbrowne3641 They had some problems with outside venders. Like porous casting that seeped oil. They also had incidents of employee sabotage on the production line. AMF sunk $7 million dollars into HD. It's funny that so many junk AMF shovels and iron Sportsters that are still around. AMF made the EVO engine that was HD's best engine. AMF never closed any mom& pop dealers nor did they go after after market shops. They had a range of bikes from beginner on up. They didn't put s sticker on a Honda and call it the new Harley. They worked on everything. They had parts. Maybe 1 box of T- shirts. Not like today! Nobody called them stealerships either.
