    What do you guys think of having voice chat going for that game? Orange had a potty mouth had to edit out their cursing heavily lol

      I definitely prefer the voice, but i liked that you only included a few fun interactions and primarily shared your analysis. For example hearing them discuss the road play was great.

      I liked the way you did it this video. Some VC but still a lot of your own commentary. I personally don't mind the cursing, and I'm sure many other viewers wouldn't either, but I respect your choice to keep it out of your content.

      Felt like it was hard for you to context shift and always remember if you had chat on or off. It was helpful to hear, but not essential for me ...

    Epic game! After going over twice I noticed:
    1. I think connecting roads was the correct choice. It was hard to believe they would be able to coordinate this in Colonist fast settings.
    2. Pointed right means max road length for red is 12. You could lose 2 roads and still point build roads left from 6-9-5 to get to 13. Coordination to block you seems possible, but not reasonable.
    3. Orange traded 8 cards to red for 1. Without this trade, orange who was already at 7 may have won.
    4. I think last city should have been on 6-2 not 10-9-2. That way if 9 wheat is blocked 6 rolls 4/5 needed for city.
    5. Maybe use brick at the end to extend and not convert for 1/3 devs, not sure though

      All fair critiques/opinions on the game! I hadn’t considered how that trade might have actually prevented orange from winning that’s pretty interesting. I appreciate all the thought in your comment, hope to see you in the comment section again!

    It’s always a tough call about going for road early I though you could have build 2 roads down to block the connect but not take longest road yet. Tough with the 6s and 9s drying up like they did and 8 exploding. Like you said I only lose if 8s just go nuts 8:37

      Yeah it’s just a tough spot when the dice go dry with no 3-1. I’ve thought a lot about this game and I think the only “true mistake” was the road to the 6 ore not the 5-2. Ended up costing us

    You can use discord streamkit, streamkit.discord.com/overlay .
    Go to voice widget, pick server and channel and copy the link to the obs screen, it let us see the "bubble" when people talk. you can see it in Dylan streams.
    It's very nice for the viewer experience.

    I’m not so sure you played it wrong by solidifying road? I just can’t remember what your hand was when you took it. I can only assume you had brick and wood. Can’t let it get robbed. Feeding red road was insane. This game literally sums up my entire catan career. I don’t think you played bad. I believe you played great when you get some rolls. It’s insane the six went dead. It’s all you really need to smash their brick or sheep. The four rolling is what really let you down. That put so much wood on the wood on the board. I can at least agree with what future Hugh said about buying devs. That was a great taken when you looked back and saw nobody buying devs. I just really hate that you pointed your road right. It’s just not the move. They for sure will feed red the plow. In the end there always shoulda, woulda and coulda moments you can’t predict. You won’t make the same mistake twice. The issue that plagues us is how these players didn’t play normally. Give me a second to explain. You said you realized afterwards that nobody was buying dev cards. That’s easy to throw off the psyche when normally EVERYBODY AND THEY MOMMA BUY DEVS lol. That’s why I always say take your time and read the table and cards. Till next time Hugh! Trust me when I say I know that stings. The samething happens to me. I begin steam rolling AND I play it right by buying devs and focus on trying to hurt the players who are in position to help another player out to stall the game. The dice begin to just stop. For me it’s coincidental. I bet colonist do it on purpose. How often does a SEVEN roll after you drop a city or settlement. Regardless if the math states sevens are the highest rolled number. I ain’t buying it.

    Hi Hugh, got a question. I find in a lot of my games I'll do well early (get a couple of settlements / cities) and then become the main rob target. Then, I just get continuously blocked and robbed for the entire remainder of the game until someone else eventually surpasses me and wins and I come second.
    I am familiar with the concept of pacing, but wanted to ask what I can do to improve this? My current thoughts are to:
    - Manage my pacing better (can you explain how I'd do this?)
    - Buy more devs before second city so that I can defend myself better
    - Table talk more to try and highlight the threat of the second place player who eventually goes on to win
    Thoughts? Any advice?

      i think it's all about evaluating how you get to 10 points. my advice would be to not pace too quickly but always keep in mind what gets you to 10 points and keep that alive. if you feel like you're stalling out mid game... try to be more intentional with pursuing a specific win condition and commit to it!

    The coordinated dice are absolutely insane. I wonder if black would've taken the 9 10 even if you hadn't pointed your road up. Would've made it a lot easier to maintain road in the long run.

      So many coordinated rolls on this board haha. I think black taking that spot hurts but helps. If they don’t take that they clog up the middle and we’re left in an interesting spot. I’m a big fan of taking a risky road with a 569 because if someone plows your port you have a lot of expansion opportunities. It’s something I’m really trying to fine tune. Happy new year man!

    Taking road wasn't the mistake it was pointing towards the 6 ore and not the 5 wood...

      The 5 they just feed black the plow like they did red. But it makes things harder to coordinate if I point left

    i think you played the last hand real bad because 1 you shouldve bought the devs first and then you will be on 9 and dont need road because you can win with the mono, so the road is pretty pointless, but even if you do want to build the road around the 2 is way better because you will have to build around there eventually anyway so you might aswell do it first and open the settle spot

    You say "natrual flow" of the dice....you should really look into colonist dice mechanics...will blow your mind what they are doing. it is not dice rolls...FYI

    People are so silly on this game trading someone the win just to prevent someone else from winning
