In the many years I've been in the space, I've yet to see any video or gameplay footage of this high production quality. Let's blow this video up! It cannot be stated how much work is apparent that you've put into this project. It's nice seeing both Dylan and Aggron in another in person event :) The competition up in Texas continues to get better and better every year, I'm excited to see how the scene develops up there.
The video editing and production on this is absolutely stellar! Also the commentary added a lot. Would’ve loved more than that. That said, this was a rough game to watch. Dylan was so salty about the first block being on him when Aaron accurately tried to stop his early game expansions. Aaron also had two settlements on 3 numbers and that ended up slowing him so much with few number hits.
Thank you Jiminy! Looking in the future to better manage the sound - clearer players talking, better way of adding commentary on top without sound getting mixed in with the table talk. Appreciate you commenting!!!
This is THE best way to watch back live games!! The overlays have so much valuable information for the viewers and its not intrusive in any way. We can still see the players, their body language, and their reactions. Flat out amazing work putting this together!!! If you're a fan of Catan, want more of this kind of content, and support the people who do this - like, share, comment and do whatever you can to get this out there!!
2:42 I really disslike the placement of last pick I think theres better options like: 9, 6, 3 + 8, 4, 3 bc after orange 12, 11, 6 brown 11, 9, 4 blue 5, 4 you have expansions like 6, 2 + 11, 4 + maybe 11, 10, 3/10, 9, 2/5, 2 I also beilieve that his picks made it easy for blue, not only putting him on a very bad spot but also the orange and brown players. or some worse ones that i still find better than the one he picked like: 9,10 + 2, 9, 10 bc after orange 3, 6, 9 brown 6, 11, 12 blue 3, 4, 8 you have expansions like 2, 5 + 3, 10, 11/4, 9, 11/6,2. 10, 9 with sheep port + 11, 10, 9 every material and solid expansions like 11, 5, 4 + maybe 5, 2.
So so cool how easy you made this game to follow even though it was in person!! Hoping I could potentially make it to a tournament in Austin in the future
As fun as the gameplay was, my favorite part was realizing how many features you put onscreen for a live game. Usually games like these are nigh unwatchable. But at first it’s like “oh sweet, there’s a dice tracker!” And then “oh sweet, they’re showing the hands too!” The little infographics on seven stats, unlucky streaks, 7 rolls was chill. And the occasional commentary to point out key moments was fantastic. I found myself agreeing that Dylan should have been the first rob.
how are these pros? varman traded dylan his victory; aaron fails to see he has no chance in getting roads and should give them to varman; saxon forgets to roll?!?! lol
Amazing video - would have been amazing to also work on the sound 🤓 Already 8mins in it feels like these players just handed the win over 🤷♂️ And throughout the game it seems of these players don’t know the absolute basics of the game 🤷♂️ Funny though to feel the tension 😅
Thanks for the comment Philip!! Hoping to keep improve on the experience, most importantly finding a venue that makes it easier for me to manage the sound! :) Coming soon!
they so underestimated Dylan at 5 points. Guy has great roadpath, ore, wheat, sheep port etc. Dylan had the Aaron guy in the bag from play 1. He was his army guy, blocked the others etc.
Dylan's right! Translated notes i wrote while watching the game and manually tracked all the cards, actions, etc. Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment!
Varman screwed placements so that dylan as first got that nice 2 pick and expansion spot and longest road prospect. I dont think dylan would have won with "normal" placements
Soooo....did Aggron lie about his dev card? I don't think so. Dylan made an assumption and was wrong (something that happens countless times by many players at any Catan table).
And also he agreed to the terms of the trade, which included playing a knight. That would be like you saying “I’ll trade you a brick for a wheat” and then when you had me the wheat I say “oh you just assumed I had a brick.
@@alikassam5403 I hear what you're saying. To me, Dylan only stated what he wanted (a knight played) before he traded the wheat but was never something he formally got an agreement from. All Aggron verbally agreed to (which to me constitutes if he's culpable of lying or not) before the trade is that he wouldn't cut Dylan off. Ironically during that interaction when discussing the possible trade, Dylan said at 21:44 he didn't care what card he was being traded, but when Aggron asked if he was okay with a brick, Dylan requested a sheep, so Dylan did ultimately care (and Dylan later made the same claim much later in the game about not caring what card he was traded, but than clarified when someone countered with something he didn't want. Maybe both parties lied during that interaction then and there was an element of deception. No condemnation on either player or their gameplay though. I think it is a good example of specifically clarifying terms before any transaction as it's easy to get sidetracked talking about other aspects of the game. P.S. - sorry about the lengthy response. I'm on vacation and don't have much going on 😅
@ I think the more interesting thing is that Dylan didn’t make him play the dev before completing the trade. Why would you exchange cards before the player plays the knight.
@@HakunaMatataCatanmaybe , but would be better to hold it to protect yourself , its seen later in the game hes newer player or at least not that experienced as other 3 . Still a great game to watch and listen to table talk
I hate Varman's 2nd pick. Opens the board. If he goes 4511 or even 45 towards the 8 and or 10 ore he has an amazing setup. Like this he wastes 2! roads and leaves Dylan the World.
Yeah Dylan has a super setup already but that pick gives him super 3hex expansion, road mat for road, road path, basically everyhing and stiffles red to play sitting duck OWS instead of soon all res with better ore. Inexplicable pick. But very cool guy!

100% this video had it all ! Props to you man !
Agreed..this was really well done
Easily the best edited live Catan gameplay EVER. The UI setup, resource tracking and popups are THE NEW GOLD STANDARD. Thank you!!!
Thank you Worrad!!! That means a lot! Will be looking to continue to improve on it and bring everyone more games!
This was a sick video!! This must’ve taken so many hours to edit. Wow.
@@DyLightedCatan thank you! Lots of hours but definitely worth it

Catan nationals should be displayed like this. It’s such a great viewer experience
Thanks Alikassam! Hopefully they start incorporating some of these ideas soon!

Great video Hakuna! CHAPEAU
Thanks sir :)
What were Aaron's devs? He could sneak road at 6 points with 3 down devs and I was so convinced that he just wins right there at 50:28
Aarons devs in order were YOP, Knight, VP.
Will be working on showing that better in future games. Thanks! :)
Absolutely brilliant video, top notch editing, brilliant pop up facts, super well made!

pro player forgetting to roll the dice twice in a row. Def a highlight for me xD

Nightmare blunt rotation (except for varman and Saxon)

not blocking Dylan's 5 for no reason Aaron. Dylan is by far ahead at this point.
This is incredible! Was it done using CV or some type of AI and able to track live or is this all done manually?
I believe it was done manually. Which is honestly incredible and a ton of work.
Dylan's right! Translated notes i wrote while watching the game and manually tracked all the cards, actions, etc. Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment!
Great work @hakuna this is highest quality monitoring I’ve seen in a game.
Aggron is definitely the king of BTT
Dyl won! hell yeah!

Well he definitely lied about what he was going to do with the cards he received.

Please make them hire you for the official tournaments, the quality in those livestreams is, to say the least, pathetic.
haha thanks Spock! Will say that livestreaming is a-whole-nother I still gotta learn how to tackle!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Aaron is one of the most annoying people I've ever seen play Catan. Other than that it was entertaining. Nice win Dylan!
On 23 minutes i can see why varman was the lowest elo player on the table , what was that agressive knight and solo for 1 in 1000 wood 🤔
Im with ya, but maybe he was trying to send a message to the rest of the table!! ;)

Varman kinda ruined the game tbh.
how did varmin make it this far with that gameplay... not only that but he was so defensive and spiteful about the table talk trying to act tough 😭😭
