    The pointing on that small gable isnt the best and i know we use strong mixes in roofing, 3 to 1 normally but that cement is pure grey, looks like 1 to 1 on that man! Im not knocking the job because its clearly a nice roof and has had some money spent on it, small tile with bonnets always look beautiful, just seems a very strong mix and a little more effort could have gone into the pointing there. Its also nice to see pointing, i guess its becoming a lost art as normally its dry ridge and verge. I wonder how many young roofers can confidently lay a hip straight, level, pointed nicely and without compo all over the tiles lol. The hardest part of roofing and not too common anymore sadly. I wonder how many could load a roof out without a bumper too! A truly horrible experience in small tile or worse, welsh slate! My back and shoulder are a mess thanks to roofing 23 years ago when no one used a bumper. I had 6 shops in a row, simple up and over job, welsh slate, 3 story victorian buildings in chapel ash wolves. All the slates carried by hand and all the old slate carried down as the boss wanted to sell them to reclamation yard. Damn near killed me!

    • @slbleadworks
      @slbleadworks  7 месяцев назад

      The roofer that done this job is the best I’ve ever seen. He is very neat and does everything properly. He also only uses traditional methods. Doest’t use a nail gun, verges will be pointed etc. and he can definitely run a hip and ridge straight.
      I can’t see him doing a strong mix like 1 to 1. Maybe it was the dye in the mortar or something.
      Thanks for watching.

      @MatthewMann-vy4jo 7 месяцев назад

      @@slbleadworks yea sorry pal, wasn't berating his work, I also wasn't referring to him about the hips etc, I just meant in general, since the invention of the plastic. It's sad really, I used to do remedial work for symphony kitchens, putting their work right on new builds. I used to see plastic chimneys and plastic canopies. I couldn't believe a molded plastic chimney and canope was being put on a house! Pretty soon everything will be a prefab part that is screwed to a prefab structural piece to create even better mass production of houses! That's where we will see real trades dying off and once they are gone, it will be real hard to bring it back!
