I've been watching your channel a lot lately because I have been looking for an affordable launch monitor. I finally bought one, a Garmin R10 based on your reviews. I think I will be happy with it once I figure out how to get more accurate readings. I have an older Swing Caddie that is very accurate at the range, but not so much into a net so I have a pretty good idea of my distances I hit each club. I just used the Garmin for the first time today into my net, I have up to 12 feet behind me and 20 feet in front to the net. So I should have plenty of room. My normal shot shape is a 5-10 yard draw. I only hit 20 shots and they all went right. Ten to 40 yards right. I hit a draw so my shots start right but normally draw back 99 percent of the time anyway, I hit a few snap hook shots on purpose to see what it would read, and it said 1-3 yards left only. I'm just not buying that... I just hit my new Cobra LTDX 6 iron, which has the same loft as my Wilson FG Tour 100 4 iron. Total distance was 175-185 yards but carry was only 120-133 yards. Spin was 2000. That's driver spin. And again it said everything went straight right. Do you have any suggestions on where I can go to find out what I am doing wrong? I made sure it was level and in line to the target. I inputed the exact distance from unit to ball. I watched lots of videos on how to set it up. I'll keep playing with it and hope maybe you can steer me in a more productive direction. Your videos are awesome. I love your enthusiasm.
Amazing!! Can’t wait to use one. Great review! Would you be able to do a more in depth review in the future? Would love to see it in action. Also include a more expensive unit (trackman) if possible to see how accurate it is and compare the results.
This looks like Garmin took everything they learned from the g80 and synthesized it into a better device. Perfect for playing a round while dealing with a tropical storm here in FL!
Gday, How high is your backyard net? And how far back is your mat?? My set up looks similar and I am petrified about hitting PW etc over the top. Hasn't happened yet but if I buy a SIM I will need to drag my mat back to about 8ft.

My OptiShot 2 got flooded from hurricaine Harvey and I have been reluctant to purchase a new sim because of the high prices. But this is doable because I can it to the range as well. Thanks for the great review.
Great review, I wish I knew this was coming out when I bought my last approach, maybe time to save a few nickels! Also great content and I"m new to the channel, keep it going!
Agreed but I think that'll be part of keeping the cost down. It integrates with E6 connect for full 4k graphics but I'm not paying those prices, hopefully there will be an upgrade or similar at somepoint.
If they add TGC2019 and this device is as accurate as the Mevo+/skytrak its lights out. Won't be buying until they add TGC integration though. I don't want to spend $600/yr on e6 connect when I could get TGC for a flat $999 fee.
@@AMDnate95 While I feel agree that TGC 2019 and/or GSPro would draw a much larger group to this, I do understand that it does come with 5 complimentary E6 golf courses. That might help draw some in but I also believe that some sort of price reduction should also be in line for E6 given the significantly lower cost for this unit. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how it works and I have thrown stupid money at more foolish things. I also feel that if it doesn't measure up for my needs, in the early stages the ability to sell it without too much of a loss should be relatively easy as well.
Does the product come with access to some courses through E6 or is this something that is purchased separately. I've read on a few different reviews it comes with 5 courses with a lifetime license but can't find anything about if that is true or what courses!
Praying I win the giveaway for this one! Amazing review and so cool to see your review come up as the first thing when I looked up this product on RUclips. Your channel deserves so many more views!
Glaring problem with this review and probably the most important miss is the actual accuracy of the Garmin device? After all, people will be buying this to study their stats as they hit the ball and make adjustments accordingly. This devices accuracy needs to be compared to the more expensive monitors to see if it actually provides accurate data and feedback on your golf shots. If not, you'd be better off playing Wii.
I've seen other reviews and tests against more expensive launch monitors and the only stat that was way off (sometimes 40 - 50 yds) was the lateral dispersion. This is a major problem as and straightness and distance are the two main goals of every golfer.
Agree, but tracking a golf ball is a difficult thing to do and the leaders are protected by a minefield of patents. That said, if this product works as advertised, it's going to put a lot of pressure on the abusive pricing models being used in the industry right now. Let's hope so.
that's not true and garmins not necessarily cheap, either - do you really think they just broke mevo and skytrak for a 3rd of the price (which coincidentally is the same price as competitors units who don't offer the CALCULATIONS based extras....You read that right, CALCULATIONS, not TRACKING. this is a base mevo that uses calculations to guess the same infomation as the mevo+ actually tracks.
I dont really see ball tracking as a difficult task. I guess a master in engineering and one in computer sience would be enough. Devices on the market today seem very basic to me. Bad battery, no solar charging, requires relatively large measuring distances. I'm not here to convince anyone, i just think they are all overpriced.
Dang it! I -just- bought a Sky Caddie SC300i yesterday! I've already taken it out of the box but it's probably still returnable. What I liked here was the sidespin - a very important number for game improvement - that's completely lacking in all of the similarly priced competitors...
I mainly hit golf balls at outdoor ranges in Southern California. I have a VC 300. I’m finding sun makes accurate measurements tough. What golf monitor would you recommend under$700 for sunny conditions on range?
Smart by Garmin to price it low and allow more buyers into the market. Forget hardware pricing and get the $10 a month fee. That’s where the money is at. Great product and excellent review as always!
love the videos! thanks for the honest opinions! Quick question. Did you do any Garmin R10 testing on the range while other golfers were present? if so how did the unit respond? I currently have a Mevo and it will detect and comment on other balls I did not hit....
This is a great price point. I was not looking for a "down the line" sim... more of a side set like a Skytrack. But I may have to do it...and if I win, even better hahaha.
Thank you for the fantastic video. I just bought a Mevo and am wondering if you compared the spin numbers to trackman or another unit. Do you need the metal silver dots? Thanks!
Could you continue the review and expand on a couple of things? One, being the accuracy versus a trackman or Gc quad. Secondly, can you expand on the E6 connect? What’s required and how to connect and all that, cause that looked so cool. And lastly, can you expand on the app that’s used? If just hitting into a net at home or in the backyard, do you need an tablet? Is a phone sufficient? I greatly appreciate a video that’ll answer some of these questions. Great review. Thank you for this, and any more future reviews!
Hi Robert just answered some of these in the new FAQ video. e6 will come with a basic package of 5 courses on the iOS app. Yes you will need a tablet or phone to use this device at home / backyard / range. A phone is sufficient. Accuracy videos will follow shortly.
Looks great. So to be sure if I hit into a net at home it will give ball flight, shape and accurate data? For this price point is amazing but was the data accurate and is it worth getting? Thanks.
Not sure to be honest. But there aren't a lot of RUclips channels that take a serious look at the golf tech side like this one. I also think we do it better than most.
Thanks for the review. I have been looking for these features at a price that I will consider. It will be nice to compare this to the Mevo+. I am also curious how this device measures compare to Mevo+. Happy golfing!
Thanks for the review. It sounds interesting. I have the Rapsodo MLM and am a bit disappointed with it. Mainly due to missing shots sometimes, and also underestimating the distance on the longer shots. The MLM is pretty good on the short distances of wedges and short irons, but as the distances get longer, error increases. So, when I get to the driver, it is maybe 10 - 15% underestimating the total distance and this is at the range, not a net. So, hoping this R10 might be a little more accurate and not have as many missed shots where it comes up with no reading, And the fact that one can use it as a simulator can make it more fun as a practice tool, and help you switch between clubs in a more realistic way like you would on the course.
Wooo! Production is getting better. Also, I think at the rate you’re going. I’ll have to give you my credit card so you can just order one for me every time you review new tech. Just to save time 😵 Nice job Gabe!
So how accurate is it? Kind of a big part of any review. How is the club path and face determined is it actual data like a trackman or GC quad tracks or does it use an algorithm to determine what the club would of been doing based on ball speed, spin, etc?
I'm a huge Garmin fanatic, and this looks awesome! I've always preferred Garmin products (s62, ct10 trackers, and Truswing) but I would love to see this go up against my current PLM the flightscope mevo. I understand that this is a full simulator, however that doesn't matter if the numbers are way off and unusable as it's main function, a shot monitor.
Looks amazing if it’s indeed accurate and all the club numbers are tracked and not calculated. My Mevo+ doesn’t do club path so would be pretty tempting to sell that and buy this and have money left over!

Agree, but tracking a golf ball is a difficult thing to do and the leaders are protected by a minefield of patents. That said, if this product works as advertised, it's going to put a lot of pressure on the abusive pricing models being used in the industry right now. Let's hope so.
💯 % agree with you…
Mevo flightscope
that's not true and garmins not necessarily cheap, either - do you really think they just broke mevo and skytrak for a 3rd of the price (which coincidentally is the same price as competitors units who don't offer the CALCULATIONS based extras....You read that right, CALCULATIONS, not TRACKING. this is a base mevo that uses calculations to guess the same infomation as the mevo+ actually tracks.
Someone should download the course and use the sim on the exact same course as see exactly how accurate it is
my first thought. I was hoping it was this guy
Exactly what I've been waiting for and wanting - very excited!
Dang it! I -just- bought a Sky Caddie SC300i yesterday! I've already taken it out of the box but it's probably still returnable. What I liked here was the sidespin - a very important number for game improvement - that's completely lacking in all of the similarly priced competitors...
Just glad you didn’t blow away! Slept through it all here in St. Pete!
Just like the USPS, “neither rain, nor snow, nor hurricanes”... 🤣
Can you do a comparison video between this and your G80? Primarily, what will I miss in terms of launch monitor if I buy a G80?
Can you do a video on your favourite courses? New golfer from Scotland 🏴 love your channel and would love to see more of the courses you love!
Woah, this sounds awesome. Good vid as always sir.
Spot on, Kyle. I think that's the play
So between the Rapsodo MLM an this Garmin R 10..which is a better buy and best simulator in your opinion?
I’m supposed to be saving up for a car but I might be set back $600.... great review!
love the videos! thanks for the honest opinions!
Thanks!
I’m anxious to see the new Bushnell/Foresight PLM that was just announced.
Me too! Though I do think it’s going to be considerably more expensive based on the first photos
Would love to try one of those out to get my numbers dialed in!! Nice review of this device!!
@@LetsPlayThru you’re the best, can’t wait to watch the new vids
Looks great. So to be sure if I hit into a net at home it will give ball flight, shape and accurate data? For this price point is amazing but was the data accurate and is it worth getting? Thanks.
Why are you the only one who got one to review? Your the only review out there.
Not sure to be honest. But there aren't a lot of RUclips channels that take a serious look at the golf tech side like this one. I also think we do it better than most.
Thanks for sharing.. looks promising!!
Great review!! Now I need one 🏌🏻♂️
Wooo! Production is getting better. Also, I think at the rate you’re going. I’ll have to give you my credit card so you can just order one for me every time you review new tech. Just to save time 😵
Nice job Gabe!
haha, thanks Shyam
So how accurate is it? Kind of a big part of any review. How is the club path and face determined is it actual data like a trackman or GC quad tracks or does it use an algorithm to determine what the club would of been doing based on ball speed, spin, etc?
I can’t wait to get this for my garage!
Already sold out everywhere in UK. Got my pre order in this morning, thank goodness.
Still on eBay via hot golf lad 👍
