The whole resetting each area feels like it was designed that way just to waste your time and keep player counts as high as possible, especially when the "skills" in each zone feel the exact same as the previous zone
The fact that you mentione both FlyFF and Eden Eternal brought me soooo much joy. As someone who was an avid player of both (and a pretty competitive and passionate Flyff U player for awhile), I love hearing others mention it. Great video! Definitely not playing Brighter Shores lol.
Very good review! I definitely fill that niche of ultimate Ironman-type player, so I've been one of the types to enjoy this game in its current state (over 200 hours played, lmao), but I do think that the criticisms you put forward are definitely valid. I agree that the "but its early access" is not a valid way to excuse criticisms, at least by itself. At the same time, though, it is something that is still relevant to some aspects; as you pointed out, there isn't much in the way of community, and it doesn't feel much like an MMO in its current state. But as there are plans for trading, PVP, and I would assume some type of group PVE (based on the in-game announcement's page mentioning "party system"), I do hope that more of the experience you described will be found for players in the long term. I'll definitely drop a sub and I hope to potentially see you revisit this game once it does reach 1.0 to see if the promised features change how you feel.
@@Pawkt Yeah 100%. I actually just put a thread in the game suggestions on the community discord to try to gain support to overhaul cooking to make consumable meals which give smaller, but longer duration buffs. That would pair well with potions being the opposite of larger buffs that are very short, and actually give it a purpose once trading is a thing. I'll probably make a post on the Steam forums too as feedback there is more likely to be seen.
Agreed! I just gave this game a bad review on steam after almost 70 hours. It's so bad. Point less skills , can't even eat the food or fish and 500 levels of nothing worth while to unlock
@@merfee I could play for 20, 50, 200, it would be the same. I tend to have a good sense of direction with most games I play. Andrew really needs to fix these concerns, I'll stick to Runescape haha.
@MyVerryGud The difference is there are actual uses for the things you acquire for many different skills. On top of that activities ti actually do that can also level skills and such. Where as Brighter Shores does nothing with it currently.
bro youd have had to have played rs for over 12 hours a day for the last 23 years since the release of classic in 2001 to have clocked over 100k hours in the game. why even say some bs like that?
@@Cr1me-wavE Because it's not bullshit? I've had a serious issue with Runescape growing up since 2002 - now. A young age, spending recess, lunch and after school in the school library until kicked out, head to the public library until it closed until I got a labtop, then less time walking more time playing. All nighters, 24+ hour farms, passing out at my desk, even dropped out and spent 7 years majorily playing RS. Last 2 years, AFK RS3 on the side from 6AM until 11 pm, every single day while working. People have done worse.
It has 10% of its' launch numbers, and for good reason - it's horrible. The shame is the first area and first hour or so really hook you in. But then you slowly realise how limited it is and the mind-numbing design choices in terms of repetition and progression. Actually you don't even 'slowly realise' - as soon as you go through the town gate to the second area you immediately realise how much of a disaster it is.
I dropped it already, thankfully.
