You absolutely right, nowadays bmw not solid, which German car are solid especially for engine? Because i had bmw since 2006 till 2018 ever 3 years i brought new bmw alway had same issue from engine. I like German car but not solid. Which German are really solid from your experience?
Index 12's are going to be the best but for a stock car they should work. The 1's just aren't going to be super reliable but then again there is a lot of debate around this still, some people say index 1's are the second best to the index 12's but who knows. The main consideration though...the index 1's were made in like 2006 and so they're already like 18 years old...so not going to be the most reliable. Getting something newer is probably better
I'd say it really depends on the maintenance history. They aren't terrible but also not great from a reliability standpoint. They have some of your typical BMW issues like vanos, oil leaks, water pumps, expensive injectors, and all that good stuff but one more unique issue is the timing chain system which isn't the most reliable and can cause some bigger issues. So overall, not the greatest engine BMW has produced - just make sure to take proper care of it and esp the timing system.

If you actually watched the video and listened to what I said you would know the N63 is still in production today. The engine I was referring to in the video was the original N63 variant (N63B44O0). The later engines - known as the N63TU, N63TU2, and N63TU3 - received a significant number of updates over the original N63. They're generally more reliable engines and I was not including those among the worst BMW engines.
My 3 series e92 has got a N43 engine. I read about that type of engine and facts about it frighten me! Made me regret buying a 318i E92! 😢
A - It all depends on how well you maintain it. We don't make these videos to scare, strictly to inform.
Give me one good reason why N74 engine is not on the list ? 2013 N74 V12 from 760Li model
N - This is our opinion. Others are welcome to have their own.
@@8020Media i was not trying to be smarta$$ i really wanna know why N74 motor is not on that list. Ppl say is the worst motor ever for V12
N - We didn't think you were! This is just, in our opinion, the 5 worst.
Is the s63b44 good? I have a bmw m57 pushing 500 hp and my friend pushes 400 hp and has 400.000km on the clock
S - It can be solid, but needs to be taken care of properly.
@@8020Media so much better then the n63? What is the diffrence sir?
S - We have videos for both engines that will be helpful.

I - We are big fans of the new B48/B58 engines from BMW. Them being used in Toyota's Supra goes a long way!
I agree that n54 as nor as reliable but think different way …fits turbocharged gasoline engine from bmw of course they’ll have problems
M - yes.
I believe there was a bmw 2002 model with a turbo engine.
The N13B16 engine is garbage too, although im not sure you got this one in the US
17 - Thanks for adding this insight.
Missing n46, I gotta one... Terrible
G - Thanks for the insight.
I feel for BMW fans who's favorite car has the N63
K - BMW has come a long way from the original N63!
The n54 01 injectors is good enough for stock car?

@@8020Mediaactually index 1s are more reliable than index 12 but are harder to come by as index 1s only came in the earliest model 335i in 2006
Not uncommon to see very high-mileage n62s though, solid motor IMO.....
S - All depends on how well they're maintained, but typically they aren't great.
what is your opinion on the s65p40 ?
G - We have an article on our BMW website that will be helpful here: bmwtuning.co/s65-engine-problems/
How on earth did the M73 not make this list. The V12 was atrocious.

how about n43b19 i bought e46 318i for dailydriveying whats your opinion on that engine

I thought the N47.A would have made the list with all the money I've had to put into my E83

actually i think its one of the best diesel engines from bmw my brother has one with 450.000km and still runs like new

Thank you for all of your comments! You're too kind.
is the n46 reliable

The N63 wasn’t only used until 2013 as you have put in your video. They are still using it now.

You’re a lier when it comes to the N54
