They maintained the "vibe" of the world. The nostalgia of the original. It was truly how I felt it back in 1997....again. I don't know how they pulled it off. I hope they continue the whole story to the very end. I worry about HOW they will do this, exactly. It would have to be at least 5 separate games if they treat it this way (which I hope they do). But that would mean an awkward transition onto PS5 and possibly ending on PS6!!!

I was watching this live and I have never felt so connected to so many people all over the planet all at once. We cheered and felt alive once more in a world that we thought had abandoned us. I'll just see myself out.
And Sony and Square said that we didn't want this and that there was gonna be no money in it. I believe the reaction they got and the oeverwhelming support afterwards proves them wrong. Though, I can't help but feel this was Square's and Sony's "Break glass in case of emergency" game.

I´m talking about the first FFXII game, it sold so bad that after 2 weeks they had to cut the price in half in hope to sell it. And that was in Japan. When it was released in the rest of the world it only took a week until the price was dropped to half in hope to sell it...
Well of course the Trilogy sold more than the rest, because it was Trilogy. 3 Games should sell more than 1, but it doesn't mean the people who bought the game liked it. Many people like me who loved the Final Fantasy Series bought FF13 thinking they could do no wrong, and were very sorely disappointed. And while the game may have been a financial success in terms of that project, it brought down the value, anticipation, trust, glory and expectations for more FF Games to be as great as the ones Pre PS3. Which is why they are cranking out games like Crisis Core, Movies like Advent Children, Off shoot games like Dissidea and so on and so forth, all with chars from the more loved games. Other than Lightning, no char from FF13 is remotely likeable or marketable.
I just came back from the last trailer we got last friday (31 january) Just to feel how impactful this can be and how emotional. I've played this game for the first time when I was 7, it was 20 years ago. This game changed my whole life, in a philosophical way of thinking, to envision the world. And by discovering this trailer back then in 2015 as we see in this video, I literally had tears in my eyes. The joy was so strong, even tho its a game, but for us fan, it could be the whole world, we grew up with this, a whole generation grew up with this one and this is how we are today the avid Playstation players they know. This game is magical. And yet, even after watching again and again this specific video with the screams of joy from the crowd and the emotion impact that was present in that moment, could never be forgotten. Best game in history.

Just hearing him describe the audience reaction made me so emotional. Actually watching and hearing it though.... I cried. I never played the original, but i'm so happy for everyone that did and now gets to relive it but even better.

Don't know if modern games have this impact anymore on people. FFVII was one of the good old masterpieces and people who say modern games are better than the old ones tell me who would do like that in the future if we remaked Skyrim or KH... There are surely other parameters as the nostalgia and stuff... but still...
The game is a masterpiece, from a time when companies let designers be more creative. Also, games are actually limited by graphics. FFVII has amazing visuals it could never have now, since everything has to be extremely detailed due to the style of presentation now (top graphics and realism). With the painted backgrounds in the OG they could do anything.
The game, the story, the characters, the MUSIC especially all culminated to make one of the greatest RPG's of all time. It's not that it can't still be done today, but companies cut corners now. They use generic music such as Top 100 Pop Music and things like that. They dumb down fighting systems and the necessity to use strategy, planning and trial and error; in favor of a more hack and slash, action based game. The stories have been dumbed down and heavily Westernized to appeal to an audience who loved the old style of Japanese RPG's and story telling far more than any pandering story could ever sell; and create silly characters that aren't believable, likable or relate-able. And by Westernizing the games to try to reach a bigger market, they lose the aspects of Japanese Culture and Story Telling which more heavily emphasizes the idea that humans are all morally grey, and that there's no true Evil or Good, and that many times it's just perspectives that changes a person from "Bad" to "Good". You can put yourself in the shoes of almost anyone, Protagonist or Antagonist and still understand why they do what they do, even if you don't support them.
The Dark Lord Microsoft rallied its armies and marched towards the gates of Playstation, all hope seemed lost...then out in the horizon, the holy armies of Shenmue, The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy headed by the Great Wizard Kojima, answered the call of the Playstation Nation and vanquished the Dark Lord's forces from Middle Earth...forever.
To me there aren't that many games from the N64/PS1 era left that would demand this type of reaction. For me personally I think a thunderous cheer would occur for remakes for Metal Gear Solid Banjo Kazooie Chrono Cross/Trigger - SNES Zelda OOT - Full blown remake

steamygoreng It still remains the greatest reaction in E3 history. The fact Shigeru Miyamoto came out on stage is what made the cheering more intense. If Hironobu Sakaguchi came out on stage after this FFVII Remake trailer played, it would have topped the Zelda E3 2004 reaction, IMO.

Whatever your opinion of the finished Twilight Princess, the reaction to the initial reveal at E3 2004 has yet to be topped by any game. Not even this FFVII Remake could top it.
Not biased, bro. Watch both videos back-to-back and you'll the see the Zelda reaction was better. The FFVII Remake reaction was still epic, though.
