I am getting chemical engineering at IIT-G, was getting very demotivated after reading comments and answers on Quora and was thinking to take CSE at NIT but now feeling motivated about taking Chemical at IIT-G.

Ha bhaiya aapne sahi kaha, iss baar bits pilani pilani campus me bhi chemical/mech/civil ke 28 bacho ko amazon operations ne 27 lakh ka offer diya hai aur out of 5 offers by deshaw 2 are by mech/civil students and this I'm telling of big IT companies, and in non core one civil student is placed in mckinsey which recruits only from top iits, iims, bits pilani and one mech student in sprinklr these I'm telling about big offers 30+

@@shivark1510 Go with IIIT. It's not that rigorous. I've my friend in iiit jabalpur and coding culture is quite good there. Plus job prospects/ salary growth are still dominated by IT industry. Btw I took drop this year n will give jee advance this week.

@@shivark1510 See outside Maharashtra. Pune Nagpur are newly built. Jabalpur had fees like 1.7 lakh a year including every thing. Which is equal to nit. Check iiits which are well established in terms of placement. Last year when I checked I selected iiit Delhi. It's fees are high compared to others but it will be worth or even iiit Allahabad if you are getting it. Lucknow is doing good in placements. Jabalpur isn't the best but it was established early so has decent alumini network and developed campus. If your rank is around 8k you may have chance of IIIT Bangalore I guess. Check IIIT Delhi. It too has developed campus and you will recover fees cost. Don't worry about that. (Ofc if you put efforts in college)

In India, people join Engineering college for the tags and IT job. Very few go into research or core job. That's why India has a significant brain drain. All the students want CS job actually, no one wants a job in the field of metallurgy, manufacturing, aeronautics, ceramics, etc. No wonder India has become the call centre of the world. Our manufacturing, public infra, automobile sectors are craving for good professionals. But the students of all the branches ultimately want IT jobs. As a wise man once said, in India engineering colleges are not institutions but factories that manufacture tech support workers.

Arindam bhaiya branch matters surely, you are not another average person, your profile is very strong and Aman bhaiya told that below ece branch, a lot of companies only allow cs/it/ece branches. Moreover, if the branch is different, studying cs related topics maybe difficult. Congrats bhaiya
But govt colleges has competative environment not like private where ROI is very poor ..also fake placements in cs and ece ....so I would suggest to go for govt college

Bits ka cs hi bits ka koi vit , mit ya kiit ka cs nahi.
I agree that fees is high but their are scholarship too like merit and merit cum. And no reservations system only pure talents come irrespective of any caste, and zero attendence policy you will have so many things to explore too much exposure .And tag bits is also a very good choice
It seems that you took bhaiyaa example and thinking bits Goa cs is equivalent to nit raipur cs which is obviously not and one more thing bits has centralized placement system if any company is invited it will come to all three campus
And if you take chemical you will have extra load of your subjects related to branch but in bits Goa cs things will be more smooth think wisly at the end it's totally your choice but again remember it's not nit raipur cs it's bits Goa cs which is far far better than not raipur cs

Bhai google microsoft de shaw jaisi companies ko college ke tag yaan branch se ghanta fark nahin padta unhe bas skilled engineer chahiye bas. Agr tu 4 saal mehnat karke ache se coding kar leta hai to tujhe koi nhi rok sakta above 20 lac package lene se. Agar college jaakar masti hi krni hai to phir placemnts bahut mushkil hain.
