    I would add an alternative to the 2nd tip: Stick your phone to the gimbal, connect your camera to your phone using the camera's app (many cameras allow that nowadays) and pull focus with a finger on your phone

    In my opinion, BlackMagic needs to work on better image stabilization; sometimes I just want to shoot a clip handheld, maybe close to the ground and I don't want to handle a big setup. Besides that, it would be great with a better low-light performance

      It would be perfect to have IBIS but its hard to get a perfect camera😂

      Cinema cameras are traditionally built to have zero stabilization. Because cinematographers want the sensors locked off. Stabilization is far more effective when done externally anyway.
      I don't have a BMPCC but I rig my camera out to the heaviest possible, and disable IBIS. Yes I disable IBIS. It just looks more organic. If you need IBIS and mobility with small rigs, then maybe the XT4 is a good option. Colours are fairly close. No raw though, only 10 bit.

      BM needs to work on A LOT of things actually if you want to consider their camera auseful out of the box product. In current form it is 100% useless. Useless for photos, and useless even for night timelapses too for no reason. But the absense of AF feature is just some kind of a not funny joke.. in a VIDEO camera... but it shouldnt be surprising from a company who made a video camera with a 10 minute battery life. This is kne seriously half assed product if you ask me. Not even gonna go deeper into 1080p cropping. Just a facepalm in every corner. They couldnt even design the AC connector so a human hand could remove the damn thing.

      @@VladOnEarth It's not a "video" camera. It's a cinema camera. They don't typically have AF or IS. Are you going to bash Arri Alexa for the same thing ? Sure, the battery is not the best but you can get 35 mins with the internal battery. It's not useless for photos (shoots greats RAWs as you see it).

    Assume mf lens + raveneye combo might help a lot on gimbal setup esp. shooting in low F or T stops

      @@PlaybyPause If it’s okay with our host, here’s a quick clip I made showing my setup. One thing that I just figured out is that my setup only works if you are using cine lenses like this Xeen 24m prime. Aside from that, the focus motors don’t engage the 18-35 Sigma art but they engage perfectly on the Xeen cine lenses.

    the autofocus is the only reason im hesitating with a7siii, i know cinematographers have to learn manual but often i just wanna run and gun

    • @VladOnEarth
      @VladOnEarth Год назад +1

      If you have to learn manual transmission, doesnt mean you have to struggle with that on daily driving right? 😁 i am returning bmpcc and getting a fuji instead, basically due to how much limited this bmpcc is due to a lack of that autofocus feature. It is realy an unusable camera unless you want to pack in into a $2000+ exoskeleton and add a separate (but why??) Focus gear on it. Its a joke if you ask me.

  • @VladOnEarth
    @VladOnEarth Год назад +1

    Why would it matter manual lens or not, with bmpcc uts useless anyways, because the damn VIDEO camera is lacking AF feature on it .. sorry, no matter what you guys say, this is dumb. I will probably return it and go with fuji for same price based on that disaster alone. This camera needs at least $2000 in gear to make a simple AF work.

      @chrisangelpl i get it, but why create so much hassle for yourself. Professionals need to be efficient much more than amateurs. BTW I ended up getting Fuji X-H2S for double price but it is what I needed, a great camera over all. Love it. Stacked sensor too.
