    I’ve had my Sears 10 XL for 30 years. I learned so much from how you, and how you clearly explained how the brake/trans both operate off the left foot pedal. I thought my trans was possibly going bad, It was stuck in second gear. I followed your instructions on my 10 XL. My trans, and mower are now running the way they were made to. You made working on my mower interesting. Thank you for taking the time to do this video.

    Great video, I put a new belt and had some disengagement problems. I also have an original 1967 ss12 manual and for the drive adjustment is 6 1/2, and for the brake its 4 3/8 center of pully to frame. Thanks again

    W grinding gears, as long as you change the old milky oil that hasn’t been changed for the life of the tractor, & throw some fresh stuff in, & you’ll be fine, just don’t squeal them.
    I’ll slam mine into gear hard, but you learn when to shift. I know people hate predator swaps, but for the simplicity & reliability of it starting 90% of the time, it’s worth it if you’re not mowing/working it hard.
    I just cruise on mine & has ok power, but leaves to be desired, still got the old OH16, but needed it to always work & not a gas hog, already got one/K301.

      First thing i do is change the rear end fluid , everyone so has had some water . If you have a tractor and it needs an engine , then any engine is better than doing nothing and letting it rot . I am thinking of putting a K301 on one of mine . I mow 4 plus hours a week on mine and the other ones plow snow and do garden work . Thanks for stopping by and commenting

    That's a tough ol' tractor, they sure don't make them like that anymore unfortunately.

    Looks like you got yourself a new camera...Great quality and sound.
    Nice tips on the proper adjustment and reasoning for those belt guards that everybody looses or throws away...lol
    Hope you and yours are doing well and ready for the winter that Mother Nature has in store for us :(
    Work safe, stay warm, see you on the next 1

    Nice video. I have a ‘74 ST/16. It was my grandfathers. I’ve been plowing snow and mowing on it since I was probably 5. I’m 41 this year. That horizontal spring attached to that top pulley that moves.. what does it attach to behind under the battery? Thanks and great video

    I installed a new 5/8 x 81 in drive belt on my 70 SS-12 Hydro. With the adjustment pully all the way down "max tight", im still getting light grabbing and slippage while going uphill. Should I have gotten a 5/8 x 79 in belt?

    What number and brand is the belt

    • @wtbm123
      @wtbm123  Год назад +1

      Not sure would need to look . on many i have the green , power rated gates belts . True blue are nice . also the tractor supply belts , the blue ones are ok . . size depends on your tractor . ss14 stock size 5/8 x 81 . was a bulletin that said for declutching issues use a 82 inch . My early ss14 with cig lighter it likes a 81 inch belt . all my 15`s take 5/8 x 82 . so depends on tractor .
