This could be a fun game mechanic if executed correctly
Hi
"using nothing but my atrocious coding skills."
not to worry, the atrocious code is what makes mario 64
the movement being off and somewhat clunky honestly fascinates me, id love to see a game or even just an engine like this
I am surprised the Super Mario Library was not used. The mod in Minecraft that adds mario from mario64 uses the decompiled mario64 code ported to C which is intern more portable to more games.
@@WellSwolen69Wait, is Mario64's code not already written in C?
@@GabrielAidley Not that I know of.
assembly was very common for n64 games. I know even Gameboy Color games like Pokemon Crystal were written in assembly, and many years later, Pikmin 2 on the Gamecube still used a fair portion of ASM. Luigi's mansion sticks out for using C++ which is very hard to decompile. Good luck if anyone decompiled Luigi's mansion.
@@GabrielAidleyYep, it was C! Nintendo compiled, assembled and linked it, and the n64decomp folks disassembled and decompiled it back into C. Some parts (since the game contains an entire supporting operating system) required inline assembly, though, just to talk to the hardware.
Assembly 100% wasn't common on the n64, most games (including SM64) are C based using Nintendo's libraries and libUltra
Nes, Snes, GB, GBC where usually asm but n64 and GBA used C often.
Extremely high quality for such an underrated channel. Subbed!
Same lol
agree
I think your custom Mario model would've actually looked quite good with some more texturing and polishing. It's really not that bad.
Mario uses a cylinder for colision

this video was on my home page and man i gotta say im happy i decided to give it a shot. i really liked this video. keep up the great work dude
Such a good video ! It is dynamic and fun with some humour. I love ! Such underrated (for now)
You could have looked over the sm64 source code to recreate the physics really nicely
1:20 that was smooth
Man this video is so entertaining, congrats for breaking every mario bones in such a cool way!
Just got randomly recommended this and decided to watch, it was a very interesting video and it was a lot of fun to watch and see the process! Only after the video ended I saw that you only had 745 subs, 543 views and 63 likes! The editing is waaaay more than I could have possibly expected from a smaller channel and I am so happy to say I was there at the start! 110% subscribed for more of this!
there's 2 long jump anims, long jump, and short long jump, the blj uses the short one
id like to play it
This is Such a Underrated Channel With Such Good Videos Amazing!
Ending: Hmmm I didn't expect that... interesting
That scratch made Mario model looked pretty good to me.
Hey Jon, could you make a tutorial on how to make modern Paper Mario-styled 3D models in Blender? To give them the cardboard / arts and crafts vibe. I'm analyzing the Color Splash ones and they seem to be more high poly than I thought (didn't know Wii U was that powerful). How can I achieve these effects? For example, the ? block seems to be a mix of 6 faces sticked together. Did they make 6 sides individually and put them together or is it achievable? Or the corrugated cardboard curves there are inside some grounds? I'm trying to and it doesn't look very natural.
Great stuff, keep it up!
nice video dude 👍
Cool project!
Keep it up!
It would be so cool if there was a whole game based around needing to do BLJs in unity
Liked and subscribed very epic 👍
Blg simulator, a game where you test how good your blgs are, by reaching long distances. Boom, game of the year
you are so underated!
you have to make this public man this was pretty cool
great vid!
Happy to be in the first 1k subs!
Love this
1:52 that was marios fricking piss🤣😂
Amazing video
I love the vídeo, should have more views, peak content
Nintendo with their lawyers watching this rn
5:11 nice sync
i hope you back up the project
im getting nintendo ptsd
we need more mario unity blj :D
Very underrated! I'm trying to make a game inspired by SM64 in Roblox Studio.
Fun video
Nice
Making a game where this is an intended and necessary mechanic next?
You should use libsm64 its the mario back from sm64 in about anywhere and also some other stuff too its a library of sm64 data but theres a unity project file that has mario playable but to use any of these premade stuff made with libsm64, you need a real rom of a normal copy of super mario 64
lol great video
0:33 The model doesnt look that bad, at least better then what i could make
The number before -150 is -infinity
-151: 👁️👄👁️
why was there a bone for Mario's spaghetti noodle?
Thing is, BLJing usually only works when on a slope right?
0:34 Oh god, I remember seeing that thing when you first finished it 😭
0:31) on my opinion this Mario model doesn't look bad, I think he is kinda cute
Doesn't look too bad*
Is it possible to play ? Cuz I like blj
My eyes are not used to the new Unity logo... It's still absolutely terrible...
5:13 was the crash sound being the next note in the song intentional? if so, damn
Perhaps…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………(yes)
I was here before 1k subs ;)
yahoo yahyayayyayyayayayyyayayyayyayahoo
0:33 the model you made doesn't look that bad imo, its just lower poly
uh oh mario broke the universe
So he went into another pu
nice, now recreate wind bomb from botw in unity
your mario is rlly cute tho lol
doesnt libsm64 exist in unity?
I thought you were popular for a sec what
has this been made downloadable; if not, why not?
Copyright issues could arise. I don’t want the Nintendo ninjas coming after me lol
true
Great quality video, maybe a better mic would improve it but no part of the video is poor quality by any means.
I like sonic and mario
Tutorial please.
Use Godot. :)
Man, please give me the project file. Pleaseeee.
Make it yourself
bro this haven
now make it in godot!
Why
-3.19e38 * 1.5 = -INF
Why would -INF crash Unity?
You don’t see it in the video but when mario’s speed goes past that point, unity stops interpreting the number properly which causes the game to crash. Interestingly though, it doesn’t crash in the unity editor, and it just displays as NaN (not a number)
@@Jon8 Guess there's some sort of exception catching that the Unity editor has that the builds don't.
I think it's specifically the physics not being able to handle -inf.
Having a mass of 0 also hard-crashes unity
use fast64!
The Shindou Edition of SM64 fixes the BLJ glitch.
Can you maby give a lik to the game?
YOUTBERS TRY TO MAKE A GAMEDEV VIDEO WITHOUT HAVNG A "Mashed My keyboard" SEGMENT CHALLENGE (IMPOSSIBLE)
I am the person that made the like counter say 420
can you give a link
would have been interesting to see this implementated with libsm64, which has a demo unity setup last time i checked
