Hey tinman, really digging the sit down info sessions. Your hitting your stride on all marks. Great content, camera angles, editing. Top notch buddy! Keep these step by step builds coming, really helps a guy work on certain saws.
Been running a 56mm titanickel for a year on a 660 n it's actually my only not ported saw as I wanted to test it n was so good I never took it off..numbers were closest to oem than I'd ever seen!! Great cylinder!!
Love to see the comparisons this helps one choose whats good for them! Thanks Tinman! Keep these great video’s coming! Love the sweatshirt! Sounds like you have a beautiful haven there you and your Wife! Enjoy every minute of every hour of every day time goes so fast!!!❤️
owls are such cool animals. screech owls sound crazy in the woods at night youd never think they were an owl if you didnt know. there also really small compared to other owls. owls and falcons or just any raptors are really cool in my opinion. great video man keep it up
I'm pretty new to building and I've been looking and making a wish list for my 288 for years but never found a video that explains the top end comparisons so well, definitely lit a fire for getting my build together mate, cheers
Great video Tinman. I can't wait to see how that Titanikel cylinder works out as well. I have not seen one run yet so this is exciting to see you have one. Love it buddy. 🌲❤🌲✊🪓
Great video tinman 👍 very informative. Having several options for what you are cutting opens up all kinds of possibilities. I think they were all good quality. Be good brother, and keep up the good work!
It's nice to see a side by side comparison. So many times I've wondered what the differences were. It would also be beneficial to see a hyway/meteor/OEM comparison quick.
Absolutely love wolf creek saw shop. Been ordering parts for my saws from them for years! Hyway parts have never failed me! As for meteor, they’re a great alternative too, from what I’ve heard. Never used anything by meteor. Thanks for sharing!
I prefer the meteor but they are all great quality products. Ryan at Wolfcreek Saw Shop has never let me down yet. fast Shipping! I’m excited to see you do a 372 brother can’t wait! 🤙
Loved the vid showing the quality differnce and tech differnces ive got a 262xp in my lap as im typing this that im doin a full rebuild on and was wondering witch kit to order this helped me soo much keep a eye out for a 262 id love to see a build on one of thoes thank you buddy
Thanks tinman!! I really like the squish band and combustion chamber of the hyway cylinder. Interested to see what the squish comes in at on that cylinder. Have a good day my friend!
Good Job Tinman. What would be helpful for some of us building outside the normal Stihl and Husky engines would be if you list the Wrist Pin diameter. For instance, using a 266 Husky piston in an Echo 670. The 266 piston has a little more compression height which allows for the pop up to be cut or for profiling the piston to the cylinder with a cut squish band.
I’ve been strictly using Meteor P&C kits for my builds. After hearing praise about the Hyway, I picked up a Titanikel P&C. I have to say..I’m impressed!! Numbers were very good and the BGD ended up with .024 squish. Think I’ll be jumping ship lol
I like the new table. Another automotive channel covered his wood bench with a layer of wood glue and after it dried, it was hard durable and dose not absorb oil.
Great comparison between the two different brand name cylinders, What I would like to see is the timming numbers for the concrete saw as compared to your 576. I know the concrete saws run slower so it would be interesting to see if there is a difference in the numbers. Stay cool up there we're going to be in the mid 90's this week.
Great info! I have dealt with Ryan and hes always been great! So you mentioned a 372... how bout doin a farmertech parts kit series but replacing the cheap parts, showing what you use and why. Theres a lot of skepticism around those and how good they are and if oem or good aftermarket parts truly work.
I just bought a hyway titanikel (?) Cylinder head kit, it is for a g660, I am extremely impressed with the quality, I don't even have to port or clean up any flashing!!!
You could put that nice cylinder on my 365 special! Still haven’t decided what to do with it, but new top and and try find an oem carb for it which isn’t easy but definitely gonna check out wolf creek and ask about shipping to good ol Manitoba
Hows it goin Tinman, like your new office. I'm keen to see what you're going to do with that pop up. I have a 52mm pop up hyway for my 372xp clone, just contemplating if I will use it yet or try other mods first. Cheers from Australia.
Hey Tinman, I really enjoy your content. The knowledge that you have and share is top notch and very helpful for aspiring saw builders.I have learned a lot from you, The Iron Horse and Donny Walker in my few years of porting power saws. How can I contact you with questions on a 61/272 build that I have in the works? Thank you for all the work that you put into your content....Keep your chains sharp and and stay safe friends.
I wish Wolfcreek would get 50mm pop ups for the 372 OE. I've ported both of mine and they are running great but I would like to put a pop up in them. LRB carries them but I would like a Hyway.
Hello tinman look at the highway piston carefully sometimes there wrist pin boss is casted a little offset I just did a 670 champ jonsered and the wrist pin boss was off center a couple thousandths.
Had to change the ring gear on my 8Ns fly wheel years a go. Put the gear in the oven for a while at 400° and it slipped right on. Funny you don't think to use those tricks on different projects.
Great video as always. :) Have you ever considered doing a newbie porting video on cheap 100$ (and less) Chinese 2500 series? They're everywhere on ebay. The reason I ask is the price. As a learning saw they're great for a beginner and you won't cry if you completely stuff it up. Just get another and try again. I think they'd be a cheap'n'cheerful way to learn and practice skills. 2500's are everywhere, you can see them with a hundred brands and it's all the same saw with a different coloured set of plastics with slightly different logo's or bits of plastic on them. Ebay has heaps if you search for "25cc chainsaw". What do you think?
Porting work makes an exponentially larger difference as the motor grows in displacement. I learned to port on a $75 HyWay top end installed on a blown up Stihl 044 I bought for all of $250. I ruined the first cylinder and Wolf Creek came through bigtime, rushing me a replacement at the price of regular shipping. I have $500 in a ported, screaming saw that would have been $1000 to buy brand new from the dealer.
Don't feel bad I've stepped on my peddle before too it's really bad when the burr is touching something it'll make you're heart jump out you're chest lol
I just got one of those titanikel kits from the for a 288 build what I'm going to be doing as well they look really nice I was thinking about doing a build somewhere to the one you did for buckings on my 288 do you know of any Pistons I can substitute in it?
I recently installed a Hyway p and c into a MS460. The parts looked very clean and attentively made, and the saw is running very well. One thing that I later came across on the internet was someone cautioning about using the c clips that come with Hyway, the ones with the curled inward ends that are easy to install with a needle nose pliers. The comment was that the curled ends can break off during use, and someone else agreed. I have used those before on other saws without so far a problem. Have you found those c clips breaking to be a legitimate concern? I used the Hyway parts on another guy's saw and now I'm concerned about the clips. Thanks!
Great info! Thanks. Any ideas how to cool down a powerhead for milling get more cooling air etc? - my 390xp gets hot pulling a 42 inch bar through white ash. - while I plan to tear it down to see I am thinking I'll be putting in a meteor top, ignition, carb kit and a new oil pump. or maybe I should just retire the 390xp to a 36 inch felling saw and get a different head for milling?
For milling big stuff a 394, 395, 2100 etc would probably better serve you. A good muffler mod and running the saw a bit rich, taking breaks to let the saw cool is about all you can do when milling.
@@tinmanssaws Thanks! I got a G660 Holzforma running it on 25:1 ( double my regular Husky mix just use 6.4 oz on 1 gallon instead of 2 gallons efree) seems to work. Might do some Stihl replacements to tensioner but brake and recoil seems ok on this power head. I be rebuilding the 390XP just got a box of bits from Wolf Creek saws (and they called me about bearings one side is Husqvarna patented the other a good ole 6203) maybe I should send it to you? To work your magic. I've already put in some inserts to repair some cover, handle, and dog threads
Hey tinman, really digging the sit down info sessions. Your hitting your stride on all marks. Great content, camera angles, editing. Top notch buddy! Keep these step by step builds coming, really helps a guy work on certain saws.
Thanks for the kind words!!
Hyway makes Meteor’s cylinders for them but Meteor makes their own pistons. Just wanted to throw that out there
If I remember right, Hyway does the casting, and Meteor does their own plating.
Good to know
Been running a 56mm titanickel for a year on a 660 n it's actually my only not ported saw as I wanted to test it n was so good I never took it off..numbers were closest to oem than I'd ever seen!! Great cylinder!!
I just bought my kit, I am super excited!!!
its good to hear an un-biased view of some non oem p&c kits
As always appreciate you taking the time and showing and explaining all the “hair splitting” details. That’s definitely the good stuff!
I appreciate the comparison, definitely helps in the build process.
It just keeps getting better, your content is always top notch and appreciate.
Always a treat to watch an awesome Tinman Vid! You are definitely a great inspiration for me and my vids!! Keep it up brother
Good video's, love watching these informal ones all the way from the UK, keep it up Tinman

Learned a lot from this top end comparison. Kudos to Wolf Creek for supporting your channel!
I'm pretty new to building and I've been looking and making a wish list for my 288 for years but never found a video that explains the top end comparisons so well, definitely lit a fire for getting my build together mate, cheers
Seems like both have their places and one can't go wrong with either! Thanks for sharing!
Great discussion, Tinman!!! Thanks for the details!!!👍
Great comparison video bud!! Very detailed I like it!!!
Looking forward to the following videos on this 268!! Thank you Tinman
Great content Tinman! Thank you!💪

I love the shop studio!
This is one video I have been waiting on, I have a 266 with a bad top end and OE are no longer available, thanks Tinman!!!!
THANKS SO MUCH... NEVER had a problem with Meteor... yet to try the Hyway
Very nice comparison. The new purple boxed top end has an amazing looking bore. Have a good weekend.
It's nice to see a side by side comparison. So many times I've wondered what the differences were. It would also be beneficial to see a hyway/meteor/OEM comparison quick.
Nice content! I rebuild the bottom end of my 2001 372xp based on internet videos! And i put a SKF bearings on it! Keep it up!!!!!
Absolutely love wolf creek saw shop. Been ordering parts for my saws from them for years! Hyway parts have never failed me! As for meteor, they’re a great alternative too, from what I’ve heard. Never used anything by meteor. Thanks for sharing!
Keen to see a video of the tin man's saw collection .hi from Australia 🇦🇺
I enjoyed this vid a lot Tinman. Thanks.
The Titanikel Hyway cylinder was beautiful
Almost too nice to use
Cool to see the compression between these two top brands.
Great information tinman. Thanks for sharing your knowledge sr.
Glad to know they'll ship to Canada 🇨🇦. Wish I had known that a while ago
I appreciate this comparison video a lot bud; I currently have a Stihl ms250 needing a new top end that I plan on fixing myself.
More n more your coming across as a real pro👍
No pro here, just a fella tinkerin in his shop
Love you brother watching old echo video right then.. lol AWESOME tinman lunch
Thank you for another great video.
"I woke up above ground today, so by definition, it's a good day. Having coffee just makes it better"
Amen to that!
I prefer the meteor but they are all great quality products. Ryan at Wolfcreek Saw Shop has never let me down yet. fast Shipping! I’m excited to see you do a 372 brother can’t wait! 🤙
Ryan's a great guy do a bunch of business with they are great fella's at wolfcreek, great job Tinnocker luv the info 👍👍

Going to run a Hyway pop up 52mm kit on my 266 I can’t wait to see how it runs! Great video tinman
how's that going? i just got a low compression 266 and 268 i'm looking for kits
Thanks tinman!! I really like the squish band and combustion chamber of the hyway cylinder. Interested to see what the squish comes in at on that cylinder. Have a good day my friend!
Nice video exactly what I was looking for
Got a hyway top end on my 2166 j red, you’re gonna love the titanikel cylinders! 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yeah hey i appreciate you making that video cus im actually buoding a 268 over the next couple weeks

C ant wait to see that 268 ripping some wood!
im learning your great teacher ,doing my 1st meteor on a 034,making it 036 48mm,non pop up

Hey Tinman I have a 372 with really really low time Ill send you to port!
Hello tinman look at the highway piston carefully sometimes there wrist pin boss is casted a little offset I just did a 670 champ jonsered and the wrist pin boss was off center a couple thousandths.
My biggest issue with working on saws is the clutch. I will not mess with them because I don’t have nor can I make the tools to get em off 😂😂
Could you do a bore/stroke comparison between saws and how you adjust your timing targets based on that? Thanks!
As someone who has ported two saws (MS260 and an 044) I second this. That would be an amazing video, @tinmansaws
I bet the flares on the skirt of the Hyway is to make up for the webbing being smaller on that piston vs the Meteor.
Hey Tin Man: The Devil is in the Details. I sure like your detailed explanations, not the usual utub bla-bla-bla. Keep up the good work. Many Thanks
We have an SKF machine shop here in Sumter South Carolina actually.
Had to change the ring gear on my 8Ns fly wheel years a go. Put the gear in the oven for a while at 400° and it slipped right on. Funny you don't think to use those tricks on different projects.
Ouch hope it heals up

Tinman, here's something to think about. Would diamond cutting saw jugs help with cooling, like it does on Harley jugs and heads?
Arent Meteor jugs made by Hyway?
Don't feel bad I've stepped on my peddle before too it's really bad when the burr is touching something it'll make you're heart jump out you're chest lol
Selalu ada pelajaran baru kalau melihat video anda bro. Sayang tidak ada teks penerjemah nya
Be safe and be careful
I would like to see a stock, highway, and a meteor top end actually compared. Run them back to back on a dyno and in wood to see who comes out on top
I just got one of those titanikel kits from the for a 288 build what I'm going to be doing as well they look really nice I was thinking about doing a build somewhere to the one you did for buckings on my 288 do you know of any Pistons I can substitute in it?
Good video. If u ever get around to it maybe u could do a video on why the OEM gets more power. Or does it ?? It that myth or reality ??

Have a 372XP myself. How about an 044 early 12mm with slanted fin Jug? was a K but replaced with DP muffler
