Thanks for posting this. This was always one of my favorite Bowie songs. I always wondered why there was no official concert film of the Cracked Actor and Thin White Duke tours.
The market for concert films only took off when home video arrived in the late 1970s. Before then it was only TV and cinema so nobody said in 1974 "hey, where is the film of the DD tour?" Nobody, no fans ever asked the question. Secondly, and specifically in Bowies case, the management of his affairs was in a turmoil which wasn't resolved until after 1975 so who was there to cut a deal with a TV network? Not Defries and not Lipman. However, my guess is that the concerts were filmed and that the footage has either been discarded or may turn up some day in someones attic or vault.
i was at the new york show of that tour, back when i knew every song. this is a very very good montage. i can feel like i am there, again...
