The NBC anchor in the beginning is Tritia Toyota. She later went on to become an Anthropology professor. These commercials brings me instantly back to my childhood.
About that Nevada bank robbery... The thieves included 37-year-old Brian Percival, a former casino security guard, plus bank employees Janice Krebs and Richard Cochrane. Krebs and Cochrane made plea deals and testified against Percival. Percival and Cochrane got 10 years. Krebs got 6. She was the central vault manager at the branch, so she had the combination. Krebs and Cochrane fled to Paraguay, where they were arrested while trying to board a Canada-bound plane. Percival was caught in Las Vegas, when he bought a Cadillac and made bank deposits that were far, far bigger than a $200-a-week security guard who'd quit a month ago, would ever be able to deposit. The lesson here is, if you suddenly become extremely rich, act as though you haven't.
Great series of commercials. Would be interesting to see the rest of the broadcast of "Damnation Alley" as well. I believe this was the airing that re-inserted unused footage not shown in the theatrical version (to pad the run time for TV). This version has been considered "lost." If you have the entire airing with the additional footage (if Murray Hamilton's character actually speaks dialogue, it's this "lost" version), may be worth posting.
Pannoni8 Do you have commercials aired on KABC, KNBC or KNXT on Wednesday, June 22, 1977 or 1983 as well as the commercial for Girl Scout with the group's singing and riding the carousel? If so, can you please upload them on RUclips for reminiscent?
This was recorded on the day of my birth. Forty years on, I still would rather live in now, when I can see this anytime and not worry as much about how I would be treated by society.
It’s an interesting programming choice, as NBC was riding high with the A-Team at the time, so piggybacking cheesy science fiction with popular network actor Peppard seems an inspired choice against the Oscars.

I am so over 2022 and all the problems we’re facing. I’m headed back to 1984. Who’s with me.

My Name is Jermaine Mack
and I remember Candie's Activewear back in my childhood when I was 7 years old!
It's interesting that NBC News had the same backdrop in LA as they did in their NYC studio. Most other times they just used the newsroom backdrop.

Used to have Candies shoes never the active wear. You can hear those wooden heels outside if you're inside 🤭.
14:13 Joe Sirola on the Sure voice over. You'll also recognize his distinctive voice from tons of spots for Wendy's.
