    Underwater explorer, historian, and award-winning author Valerie van Heest will discuss the 1860 sinking in Lake Michigan of the steamship Lady Elgin, the deadliest disaster on the open waters of the Great Lakes. She will consider the discovery of the shipwreck as well as the controversial ethical issues associated with searches for and discoveries of those vessels. Van Heest will also offer various alternatives when considering these ethical issues.
