I've seen The Lion King on Broadway three times and each time I'm in tears during the opening. There is no way to explain the power of their voices and seeing the animals coming out. So many chills!

I am so happy that Jennifer Hudson got to sing this song once more! When she sang "Circle of Life" on Idol, it became one of the best performances during Simon and Paula's era on the show!
You know what would make this sound better? A rich kid who can’t sing whose parents power and influence gets her the role. That would be great.

@@patrickdecarvalho4754 Oh, that’s right. The song would sound better if it was sung by a 11 year old who refuses to wear the traditional costume matching the rest of the cast. That too is holding it back from reaching its full potential. Trust me. I watch “how to make music” RUclips videos all the time, so I know.
Why does somebody bring her up in every damn video of the concert? It's not like she sand in every song. Heck, she only sang in one. Really, one bad performer isn't worth spreading the engarivity all over to the parts of the concert that were truly beautiful.

You’ve got these outrageously talented performers and then they throw a ten year old on stage who doesn’t know stage direction, the choreography and can’t sing on tune or with any quality to her voice. Forget the lion; MONEY is king here. Sad for all the professional performers who worked their butts off to get to this point only to share the stage with a kid whose parents bought her place on stage. There was no reason for ‘stunt casting’ either since this is already a star studded event. Kim and Kanye should be ashamed of themselves.

Oh gosh I remember going to the library and renting the crap out of the VHS tape childhood.
I saw it on the first showing the day after it came out (and I was first in line and got the first ticket).
I couldn't see it the day it came out because by the time I got off work and got to the theater all the showings were already sold out.

Carmen Twillie was definitely robbed of the opportunity of performing this song.
Yeah, She did do it a few years ago at the Disney D23 expo event in 2017 (or 2016).
I wouldn't say she was robbed. Jennifer Hudson is a world-renowned singer and was added as a special guest to help boost the promotion of this event. She also sang this song 20 years ago, as a finalist on American Idol. Sir Elton was blown away by her rendition of it. I do, however, think that Disney could've perhaps had them sing it together as a duet. That would've also been special.
Let's hope they gonna do The Lion King Live on ABC where they show The Film then Live Spectacular Performances of The Hit Songs from The Movie and Broadway soon for the 30th Anniversary.

Lion King sound track is not for JHud voice. Something gets lost from it when she sings any of the songs. This would have been an ideal place to showcase South Africans singing.

@@thomasfy4 I am sure the wildlife there don’t belong to any particular ethnic group. In terms of people Lebo M did an excellent job with the Original and the spin-off sound track. It does not matter whether it Xhosa, Zulu or Afrikaans because when they speak English and sing the same songs tribe does not matter.
This song is so powerful it brings me to tears every time. And in the movie when he is being presented to the world it reminds me of the CHRIST child. The sacrifice to save us all. It’s so strong within you as the LORD is that the strength you feel in your chest from him brings you to tears.
