I love how the Dodge let's off at the end so the motorcycle is not totally humiliated. Late 1960'$ thru early 70'$ Mopar was just toying with Chevy's and Ford's. This dart is sick!
Yep i know eh,i tell people that all the time mostly my chevy & ford friends. But when i tell my none Mopar friends that you could buy a stock Hemi off the showroom floor that was for the strip via special order & you could run some pretty insane times with a 'stock' Hemi.Another cool story i tell them is in the late 60's&70's Nascar had to ban the Daytona Hemi's because they were going 230-240mph @Daytona & Talladega. So the poor chevy & ford boys did a lot of crying & got their wish.
By the way I have a 67 dart,340a833 4speed,smooth idle 366 cam with 202 lead heads, rpm performer intake with a650 carb.she is prety slow lol :) 373 gears with a locker to! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Couldn't have said it better myself. The Chrysler HEMI is the best engine ever made PERIOD.The Mopars dominated the drag strips in the 60's&70's when the muscle car era went into full gear & the Mopars came balls ABlazing with their cool color paint schemes with Hemi orange,Plum crazy,Petty Blue,& Hot Pink etc,& the Big Powered Mopars like the 318,340,360,413 Wedge,426 Hemi etc.The N.H.R.A. drag cars like the funny cars & top fuel still use Hemi's for a reason, because they make big MOPAR POWER!
The fastest guys in Pro Stock have HEMI's. Pro Stock allows each car to run an engine manufactured by the sponsor on the car. Nobile is running a HEMI, and so is Jegs!
That's right my Mopar friend! Theirs no muscle cars like Mopar muscle cars with the cool colors & cool engines they came out with & still to this day they still use the mighty Hemi to get down the track fast like the NHRA Funny Cars & Top Fuels & some pro-stock etc.
Ya I've had it since high school.I use to spank all my buddies 5.0 Mustang's for fun ,they'd get all cocky & i'd be like don't make me keep you honest lol. But ya I love my Duster 340 4-speed.I grew up with Mopar with my Mom & Dad & their friends so it's in my blood. My buddy has a 1975 Nova with one of my buddies old late model oval track motors in it (355) with 4.11 gears & it's fast..My Dad has had some nice Mopars.1968 Plymouth GTX 440 Super Commando & 2 1971 Roadrunners with 383 Magnum.
Sudsy Sutherland , yep grew up with 71 340 Demon duster, 4 spd just about smoke anything on street you could throw at it!!! Loved whatching all the crybabies keep wrenching on there's trying to beat it
@@glenparks5175 cool, love them 340s; a chevy fan on here thinks a 350 lt1 could take a 340 six pack car, they put them in the camaros and vettes in 70,.71. he also thinks chevys rules the street and strip... LOL
I wouldn't doubt it. Although, Chrysler had two versions of the HEMI: The "street" version, that they put in the Cuda's and Challengers, and what have you, and then the "race" version, which was in this car, at 725hp. Not too many cars could hang with an ol' stock HEMI Dart.

My dad said one of his friends had a car with a HEMI in it, now I see why he was able to go from 50 to 80+ in few seconds with someone next to him going 80 when he was going 50 and pass them before they passed him.
9 seco0nds is a great time...how much you want to bet that motor is stock? a few of these darts left the factory with hemis and 440s via special order...
Kinda, Dodge and Plymouth sent (I dont remember how many) Darts and Cudas in 1968 to Hurst to have them install 426 Hemis into them. They were Race only and not street legal. They also came unpainted and no warranty. I know they put 383 into the Dart GTS and they even did some 440 after the 383 transplant was a success.
Snakesonaplane!I left a reply, tell me what I got wrong again.see who knows more.did the hemi start in planes or boats or both?1951 ring a bell?the 331 was slow and not functional. Gen2 was made for what?
?? I've never heard of that. Or do you mean manufacture sponsor like Dodge,Chevy & Ford? Or the actual sponsorship like Jegs,Mopar,Summit,Napa? But what if your sponsorship is Mcdonalds,Hooters,Miller Lite? what do you do then, have a bunch of quarter pounder chicks with big Hooters & sipping on Miller Lite build your engines for you lol.

Ur thinking about the 71 cudas, think that only 11 were HEMI convertible cudas!

Ford made hemi heads too.
Most manufacturers did. My 83 Toyota pickup had a "Hemi" in it.
