If you want Beastie Boys vibes from Ren try "What you want"
Beat me to it, bruvva. Yeah, man, I second this guys comment. ‘What you want’ is pure homage to Beastie Boys….
💯 % 🔥
😎👍🏼
What they ☝said. 😄
I was about to type this but knew someone already had. 👍
In the very beginning he says, "genuine Frankenstein, I made a monster." Frankenstein's monster was sewn together with a bunch of body parts from different people, just like Ren stitched together all these different flows into one song. Also, just FYI, Ren always pins the lyrics in the first comment on his videos. Can't wait to see what you do next!
Check out Sick Boi, Losing It, Genesis, Power, Illest of Our Time, Chalk Outlines, How to Be Me, and Money Game 1 and 2 - all great Ren gems! Also - the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full), which is an amazing story-telling trilogy. He has a huge catalog of great songs, which are all pretty different! He is versatile, eloquent, and super clever!
Also anything wth Sam Tompkins, escpecially their busking vids
Hes in a bang to theirs a video where they do i shot the sheriff and two other songs back to back , the big push
Plus the Big Push! 🔥🔥🔥
Don't forget my favourite Ren video... Crutch with Bibi. Hauntingly beautiful and completely different.
Just listen to it all lol
He's in the UK here. Every song he does is different, almost. Beastie Boys vibe is insane in his song "What you want".
He picked this exact location bc in 90s rap videos or hip hop graffiti was all over the place. The jacket he wore is the same aspect. He's a true student of the game and always try to show respect to the ones before him.
Man the 'port and starboard' symbolism that you picked up was on point, i was waiting for a reactor to pick up on it, man you're the first 💣💥smoke one for me fellas ✌🐦.
yeah that was cool, learned something today
I feel like this is both a love letter to rap, and Ren showing the influences that brought him up.
Yep. You’re in it now! I highly recommend “Chalk Outlines” for yet another side of Ren. Also worth noting that most of his newer videos (but not this one) are one-take live recordings and you can tell if you watch and listen carefully. He is able to deliver amazing live performances on camera with little to no editing or overdubs.
Live version of chalk outlines, with chinchilla, specifically.
If you really want to see his talent at top level.
It's a Man's World with Sam Tompkins busking on Brighton High Street.
Amazing
That was the song that introduced me to Ren's rapping talent and it absolutely blew me away 🤯 the flowswitches, alliteration, clever bars- the only thing that sucks is, that the song isn't longer 😂
Edit: this is a random site I the UK. It's actually where they found the wheelchair for Hi Ren as far as I know
It's an empty lot in Ren's hometown of Brighton, on the south coast of England; almost all of his videos were filmed somewhere around the city. (Ren was born in Wales but has lived in Brighton for many years.)
I think the green and red flares are to represent his Welsh heritage (Welsh flag is green and red) He was born and raised in Wales and moved to Brighton in England.
Welcome to step 2 in the Ren rabbit hole... personally I'd recommend I shot the sheriff next then chalk outlines if you want to be completely mind fu$&&d! Then fall back to Genesis, Money Game 1 and 2, and by then you'll do them all I have no doubt! And I'll be here for them all No Doubt! ✌️
He is independent. Ren and his crew do everything. He rocks with a low budget.
The deeper you go into Ren's art and personal story, the more you understand his lyrics. He rose to his feet on the streets, sharing his messages, music and art as a busker after being sick for a decade. Watch the messages in the lyrics and images. The pig features in Money Game.
The location I believe is a disused area of Sussex beach, possibly Newhaven, close to a dock, that's unsafe due to unstable cliffs and tides.
Our Ren is a creative genius, multi talented and a very nice chap. It's brilliant he is being supported by you guys. I hope you come to love him as much as we do in the UK x
Fair and yeah I can see Beastie Boys influence. As crazy as it sounds, I hear Dr Seuss type rhyme schemes from Ren. Still suggesting “Sick BOI” as a more recent rap product from Ren. Then “I shot the sheriff” and “The tale of Jenny and Screech” (which may be better than Hi REN). Keep it up! Subs will follow!! Just subscribed.
I can't wait t watch you react to his other stuff. The Tale of Jenny and Screech ( 3 songs doe altogether in order), Chalk Outlines, Sick Boi, What You Want and his band The Big Push doing I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hiphop are good songs to do next 😊
He uses so many different styles across genres and yet it is uniquely him still. Ren is absurdly talented and skilled! He's super cool and chill too. He usually checks out reactions to his music.
Loving your Ren reactions 👍- your comments and insights are on point.
Eagerly awaiting the next one.
I agree with this 💯
Great reaction guys... looking forward to more! This rabbit hole gets deep... 🐰
Hope the fact that he is doing this all on his own , I mean as far as support , no label , no sponsorship , from top to bottom , and like you said , if you pay attention , everything you see and hear , every tiny detail was thought about and is there for a reason, one take videos , no cuts, a majority of them live, on those parameters, I’d like to see what a 10 is, that has nothing necessarily to havin to like it or not of course, but what he’s trying to show , and say , and what he wants you to feel whatever that might be on whatever type song he is doin , it’s as close to musical perfection as I’ve ever seen , and being independent an independent artist, I don’t even know where that puts it , love the channel guys
As Below. Ren's track 'What you Want' If you are after that Beastie Boys vibe. Enjoy! Might I suggest 'Genesis' and 'Crucify Your Culture' There is so much of Ren's and his collaborators music to listen to. I haven't come across a bad piece yet. Enjoy!
Wow! I have seen a ton of reactions and watched this video a ton. Never saw the things that you mentioned. Subscribed.
Brother just discovered your channel last night with Hi Ren. Great reaction def subbed! Have a suggestion for the next Ren vids. Def do his I shot the sherif/road to Zion mashup it’s AMAZING. All his stuff with chinchilla, Sam Tompkins, and his band the big push are INCREDIBLE
Everything he does is different!
Just watched your first reaction, looking forward to this 👍🙏🐊
He is in Brighton in England, he was born in Wales in uk then moved to Brighton
Hence the red and green flares...colours of Wales 🏴
Ren is very versatile. He has alot of old school flow and beats. His early works is also amazing. Keep it pushing. Great content guys👍👍🔥🔥😎😈
Gotta? Say I'm new to the channel but you're becoming one of my favorites brother.
Loved your reactions.
You guys are fantastic! Thanks for another great reaction.
Subbed! Stocked you guys came back to Ren so quickly, that's awesome! This is just a beginning! He also was in a band the Big Push and if you check out their cover medley of I shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop - you'll yet another side of Ren and it's an absolute fire performance!!
Omg why did I never get the plane color connection? Nicely done!
I love his messages and that I can hear what he says clearly.
Gotta do THE BIG PUSH - I SHOT THE SHERIFF, ROAD TO ZION, HIP HOP... it's a medley by rens band when he was busking (street performing)
He is a chameleon - just wait til you get to The Big Push videos or How to be Me or……. Great reaction❤❤
Ok your now my favourite 🫶 all the songs as already mentioned are worth a reaction, but I can’t wait for to do What You Want, and The Big Push - I Shot The Sherrif/Road To Zion/Hip Hop (make sure you go for this one)
New Uk sub ✊🫶
The dude is amazing. If u watch a few of his videos its impossible not to watch more. Love the reaction. We all want more Ren reactions
Every #Ren song sound's different! Love him!!
Yeah you guys are deep and like your honest reactions....good shit! Check out Loosing it and genisis...he's from Brighton area!....nuff love n respect,Steve from the uk...
They found the wheelchair here for his Hi Ren video. Ren definitely has studied music and history. From Rap to Rock to Reggae influences. Every genre and throwbacks in lyrics his music is deep and you got to hear a few times to pick stuff up.
His Rabbit hole is so good and doesn't disappoint.
Great reaction guys 👍👍
This rabbit hole is deep and just awesome, you gotta listen to everything, The Big Push group he's a part of does great covers, videos of him busking are great too
Great intro, had to subscribe...
Ren is different ❤
Great reaction fellas
Don't think one should compare the guitar art with the rap art. The rap art is him playing, Having fun, being light hearted. The guitar is more heart/ deeper, most of the time...
Liked, subscribed
I like how you have some commentary but you’re not long winded
Yo so glad you guys did this song now do the trilogy of Jenny and screech 🔥🔥🔥
He is in a gypsy camp area in UK.
He is also doing all the beat bixing too.
I swear he is going to get me into rap!
New sub! I love this song! I really wish you guys had caught the twist in the Jenny Screech and Violet tales, though
Great reaction, glad i stumbled upon your channel 😊 i would like to request something that might not be in your wheelhouse... Falling in Reverse, with their new one "Watch the World Burn"....i have a feeling you'd love it! ❤
Sidekicks (Sorry i don't know his name) T-shirts are blowing 🤯 love all of them ❤ You 2 are a force 🔥🔥🔥 always look forward to your reactions..... fire brothers 🔥
As a reactor, i can confirm that you are the best reactor.
Wanna witness that he's the rap God react to
1.Life is funny
2.Money game pt2
3.love music pt2 and pt3
4.what you want
5.Hold on
Illest of our time, Power, Life is Funny, Losing it, so much to check out!
A really interesting reaction. You've had loads of recommendations but truth is you can't go too far wrong. I believe this a site in Brighton, England, where Ren has lived for a good while.
Another great reaction. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right Here, Right Now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” "Hold On," his new release “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake),” and his latest release "The Illest Of Our Time," just to name a few.
Wait to you here him sign sign. But you should do his trilogy. Jenny, screech, and violets tale in that order. Ren likes to rap, but that is not where his talent shows the best in my humble opinion. Personally, I like his stuff he does with his band THE BIG PUSH. But that's the beauty of Ren, he does so many different styles. You never know what you will get. My personal favorite is his song, HOLD ON.
damn i didnt think about the plane thing but , when i was in the army we did a lot of air insertions and we were always told Red Right Return meaning if you look forward and the red light is on the right side its coming at you
I would love if you looked into "Chalk Outlines" with Chinchilla LIVE next. For the next "Oh, this is different!"
I always hit the like button on any Ren reaction, whether I sub is dependent on the video.
You gotta drop Jenny and Screech (Full) ASAP ❤
He's from Brighton and I think this wall is there. I'm going this summer and I hope I can find it. Good catch with the red and green! I'm really into the beatboxing at the end. In the grocery store humming get 'em! under my breath.
Yeah, I think you'd like Losing It.
@@TheTaffia yes, he was born in Wales.
I hit like, not just because I'm a Renegade, but because you took the time to react to it.
He does everything live one take . So amazing
Ren makes all his own beats.
Lets go guys more Ren and I got you a sub😅
Thx for the sub… going to do every ren song he got💯
I'm so glad you guys reacted to this song, very perceptive, you're ears did not deceive you, while it's almost impossible to nail Ren down to one specific genre, he for sure has huge love for old school true hip-hop. There's a lot of great suggestions from other comments, and honestly, while I have my favs, I haven't heard a bad track from the man yet.
But if you want to stay with the old school hip-hop vibe, I would check out "What Ya Want" It pays direct homage to the Beastie Boys, down to the outfits, the fish eye lens, and him and some friends acting a fool on the streets of Brighton England, his home town. Also he plays with a band called The Big Push, they have a busker video (Busker = U.K. slang for playing on the streets for tips) where they do a mash up of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff"/ Damion Marley ft. Nas "Road to Zion" / Dead Prez "Hip-Hop" that is so next level fire, it will melt your faces off...lol. Another great reaction, keep up the good work fellas! ✌️💚
NOTE: The pig is a symbol of anti-capitalism.
The pig is a symbol of capitalism. Pig head on a stick =anti capitalism
@@greenmonster4918 ....You are correct, but I had rambled long enough, and feared if I typed anything more than a quick note, I'd end up in a diatribe on our socioeconomic structure and referencing Gorge Orwell's "Animal Farm"...lol.
REN shoots his videos in his hometown of Brighton, England.
Brighton is an English seaside town.
By the looks of this video, it looks like there used to be some sort of building there which has be demolished, and now its just abandoned land.
been growing Callie weed indoors in uk since late ‘90’s (illegally) that’s what rens talking about!
The vid is filmed just outside Brighton by the sea. We used to hold illegal raves there back in the 80’s
Soooo much love for Ren
Thanks for reaction vids!!!!!
Do Illest of our time, Chalk Outlines, Losing it, Genius....so many different genres, dude is a genius....oh and the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version) it's a trilogy
i just recorded tale of jenny, will be dropping tomorrow, i live in my studio lol
@@tretvfrmdabx2544 looking forward to it
Talking about colors at 5:55. It's also Red, Black, and Green, or R.B.G. which can translate to Revolutionary But Gangster that comes from Dead Prez, which is a group that REN has covered songs of in other videos.
Ren is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can’t wait till you guys react to Jenny and screech (full) - it will blow your minds 🤯 - then listen to him busking Bob Marley; YES he does Bob Marley and does it perfectly (with his band called “The Big Push”)
The pig is a recurring character, and after his latest announced song release, I think the pig represents the pigs in George Orwell's "Animal Farm"... They became like the ruling class in what was supposed to be a free and equal society:
"The pigs start to resemble humans, as they walk upright, carry whips, drink alcohol, and wear clothes. The Seven Commandments are abridged to just one phrase: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".
His work has a depth to it you don't see often, both in the music and in visual symbolism in some of his videos... In this one, I thin he's just showing off some of his skills... It's when you get into Money Game, Sick Boi, Illest of our Time, and Crucify Your Culture (just to name a few), where you have to really pay attention
I'm thinking Professor Pyg from DC Comics is a deranged enemy of Batman, broadly considered to be amongst his darkest and most disturbing. Pyg is a twisted surgeon, obsessed with the myth of Pygmalion and notions of physical perfection. Due to this, he kidnaps Gotham citizens to horrifically transform into his obedient, "Dollotrons" . Professor Pyg is also the leader of the Circus of Strange, a syndicate of circus-freak themed meta-human (human-animal hybrids) criminals.
@@DukeOfTwist Holy crap... Good catch! I had completely forgotten about him (Which is a bit embarrassing, seeing as how I was part owner of a comic/gaming store when he first appeared LOL). The pig in both Hi Ren & Sick Boi look just like the character.
@@davidjones4252 100% it fits his themes
This was filmed in England. Trainers are tennis shoes.
Love that you caught the reference to Jesse Owens!
Love this track and it’s definitely just Ren having fun, showing off his rap skills. Definitely check out sick boi, Genesis, losing it, illest of our time, money game 1&2. For crazy versatility (and because you really liked ‘hi ren’) you will like the tales of Jenny/screech/violet (do full video of the 3 stories) and I shot the sheriff/road to Zion/hip hop is a must! 😮😂❤
He's dropping a new one May 4th, might want to be on that
thx u luv for the info, def going to do that!!!!
What you want! Please do 'What you want' next
You will take a trip back in time!
Because of his versatility he's just giving you a sample of each flow.
Dudes your missing soooooo much.. keep watching all the way down the rabbit hole..Ren is freaking amazing....
Backround is what is called gallery. It is abandoned building or factory or something like that where painters go do pieces. ✌🏻
Not sure if its been mentioned before but this was shot at Blackrock right next to the marina in Brighton.
He did a beastie boys homage with "what you want". I highly recommend that one
This that new Boom Bap. Love me some Ren.
Illest of our time. Bars for days flow switch its fire
The Smoke flares represent the Welsh flag colours :)
Ren-Genesis 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This dude is ridiculous, ten different flows in every song, story telling, old school rap, amazing covers.....he does it all!
If I remember correctly, this is just some random spot they found while driving around looking for a place to film this video, and they were done in like 15 minutes. it was shot somewhere in the UK most likely somewhere around Brighton.
Trainers are sneakers, in the UK, we call them trainers.
10/10 all day everyday.
The tagged up area is in brighton, England. Where Ren spend his youth
Welcome to the RENaissance, a home for the lost and broken; enjoy the ride
If you want to dive more into the rap side of his catalogue, I'd start with "What You Want" which is a brilliant homage to the Beasties, followed with "Genesis" followed by "Sick Boy" followed by "Illest of Our Time" (this one goes after the previous one so you have some grasp of the meaning) and the trail goes from there
For more ... Rock(?) fare... Follow the breadcrumbs to The Big Push ... and dive in (I personally suggest Sweet Little Lady, Swan Song, Englishman in New York, and the cherry on top ... I Shot The Sherriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop)
Last but not least, don't be afraid to check down the alleys, Ren has built himself a circle of talented musician friends that will surprise you and make you glad you chose to look for hidden treasure.
Well DAMN .. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this and I hadn't caught the plane formation before ... WOW
The site is a traveller site - as in folks live their off grid in vans. Kinda mini slab city!
It’s him him beatboxing at the end too….
Its in Brighton England. Its at the end of the beach near the Marina.
He stitched all those flows, styles, and words together into a Monster of a song. Mad Scientist for sure. Frankenstein
Hommie's plane analogy catch is brilliant.
Fkn love y'all.
Here for y'all and #Ren always ❤️
Following the most popular comment about "what you want" you should check out his street performances or his "i shot the sheriff" cover with his band The Big Push.
This will keep the diversity train rolling for sure 🔥💪
Just wait till you hear him be Bob Marley with his band The Big Push 😂
I also went straight from Hi Ren to The Hunger, and it was a bit like taking a sip of sweet tea when your expecting Coke. Now that I know what to expect I like the song a lot more.
