Hello Friends!
The last couple of months I've noticed that the fan in the Lunos E2 HRV unit that I have in my bedroom was getting louder. This is a problem because it's above my bed. It wasn't super loud but if I was not sleeping soundly it would actually wake me up when it kicked in. So, I contacted Lunos Canada and spoke to a very helpful fellow named Alek and they sent me out a new fan assembly. So today I'm showing you how easy it is to change it out and, hopefully, how much quieter it is! 🤓🙏🏽😁.
This is the video I did that discusses the Lunos and why I think having an air exchange system in your tiny house is critical: • Before You Choose a Lu...
In my opinion my Lunos E2 is the most important system I put into my home. When you live in a cold climate, like I do in Alberta, Canada, the cold outside meeting he warm air inside will inevitably cause condensation on your windows and this system takes care of that. If you live in a humid climate, this system is very important year round.

'You let me know if it starts', best yet!!!!
I am so impressed with your handiness.
When you live alone you have to tackle things yourself 😁🤷🏻♀️
Your a handy little lady. Looking forward to more of your van build and coffee on the deck.
It is such a pleasure to hear about a company that offers such great customer service! Glad it worked out so well. 😄
Thanks Adelina, good to know. You are funny 😂
Mine makes that noise as well! The one in my storage loft has been doing it for more than a year of it's 2-yr life. The one in my sleeping loft started doing it 2 weeks ago. A little concerning but good to know Lunos will send a replacement. Thank you for posting this!
You’re welcome ☺️
You make solving household problems seem so effortless.
Good job!
I love the idea of these ductless ERVs. What concerns me is Lunos claims a 100,000 hour life (10 years) but if they fail after the two year warranty, the cost is $600 per fan. That would get very expensive.
There's always a chance of that happening with any system I suppose.
I've had the Lunos E2 air exchangers in my house for 4 years now. My house is an air-tight SIP construction house with no place for ductwork. So, this was a great solution. I have one pair down stairs and another pair on the second floor.
😊
Great job Alec and Lunas.
Might be worthwhile to keep the old system and try to fix it. Never a bad idea to have parts or replacement.
Good idea.
Good to know thank you for sharing 👍🏾
Great customer service! Couldn’t hear the new one at all!
L❤ve your channel!!
You are the second RUclipsr I follow that is leaving Alberta for another province...we are 'losing' some good people we can lay claim to as Albertans.
LOL! I’ll always think of myself as an Albertan! 🤓
Great video 😎 thank you ✌🏻hope you have a wonderful week 🐈
You too Maria 😊
I just checked your weather , you are 1 degree hotter than us. But you are in better shape than us. Because we are 79 degrees but it feels like 86. According to what I googled. I think you are cool even if it is hot there.
I’m just building and I’d told my contractor I want this air exchange system (with your recommendation). Thank you so much for sharing your enthusiasm in staying independent! Maybe I’ll bump into you at Quartzite, Arizona when your van is finished!!! ❤️
Hi Brenda! That’s exciting that you’re building 😁. I can’t wait to be able to travel. Taking her out in a maiden voyage this weekend. Not finished by a long shot but the bed is in 🤷🏻♀️😎.
@@myBIGtinyhouselife good luck on this first outing. My travels will be in my Ford C-Max with an SUV tent attachment. Trial camping this coming weekend! 😀
Good for you! Have fun 😎😊.

great work
I just love how handy you are!
Thanks 😊
I always learn something from your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks 😊
Thank you, well done. Much appreciated
Thanks 😊
Girl power.
👍🏼😁😎
Hi 👋👋 this was an interesting product for me to see as I test building products that support human health safety. I am hoping you are using the MERV10 filters as long as the mechanical 12v system will support the extra resistance.
I would ask the engineers if there is a possible upgrade to a hepa filter esp when you relocate to BC (or maybe before bc I have seen some wicked awful air quality numbers in Calgary during fire season).
If not hepa then at least charcoal infused filters. You may be able to jerry rig a Honeywell charcoal infused pre-filter that can be cut to size. Canadian tire/Amz.
Great idea! 😊
Just a thought, it looked like there was a good fair share of cat hair on the filter when you showed a close up. Blocking the air flow through that filter would make the fan motor have to work harder. Just something to keep in mind to hopefully prolong the life of this new one. 😀
Actually it is clean. That was a rogue hair. I actually wash them in a regular basis.
The e2 is a 2 unit system. Balanced pressure in and out in opposition via the controller. Where is your 2nd fan?
It's at the other end of the house.
Hopefully you won't have to replace that every 2 yrs. How long are they supposed to last? Have a great week.
Hi. I’m not sure how long they last but it’s my understanding that this is uncommon so fingers crossed 😁
Did you send back the defective one? Maybe they could recycle it?
They didn’t ask for it back. I’m not sure what to do with it.
❤️💯👍🏾. Hugz
Thats so satisfying... silence
Isn’t it though?! 😁
madam, you could have simply just changed the fan, or even better, we could have fixed it or taken it to a repairman, it would have been much cheaper for you than changing the whole unit as if you had bought a new one and Prana recuperators they are cheaper by several hundred dollars and have two fans not just only one which changes direction every minute, but each one works individually, there is also an application
Yes, so does this system. One unit in each end of the house that alternate pulling air out or bringing fresh air in. The unit was still on warranty therefore I did not have to pay.
@@myBIGtinyhouselife then it's totally okay
Talk about beeing scammed. A repair person could have just changed the fan (50-100$ job, fan included) . Not replace the entire core. People really need to support right to repair
Well, they sent me a replacement at no cost. I'd have tried to fix it myself before paying to replace the core.
@@myBIGtinyhouselife If they send a replacement fan than it's on you :) . A fan replacement, one of the easiest jobs out there. Maybe find someone in your area that can do it and you get a extra functioning core. Good luck
