What do you guys think of the Acer Neo 14? Would you buy this over the G14?

I have questions I have two laptops in my cart for my younger and youngest brother one being (hp victus 16 2050) and the others being (Lenovo loq 4050) Lenovo being 800$ and the hp being 500$ do you think I can get a laptop with the same performance as those two but lighter and cost about the the same but I don't mind spending the little extra money.
I'm only ever buying framework from now, saving lots of money.
None of both. The 1 that beats all is avaible in Q1 2025.

Because it is only specable with a 4060 no 4070.

It's only available in a limited market.
There is one USB-C port on each side. The same can’t be said for many other laptops. There are a bunch of laptops that have two USB-C ports on one side, but none on the other. Cough, MacBook Air.
I don't care about no USBC port on the right like in an MB Air, but a max of 16GB is a dead end for many more people wanting this for more intensive tasks. No laptop is perfect but 16GB is a deal breaker for more people than the placement of a USBC port on the right.

what is the main difference between the triton 14?
Dell does the same thing. Sub-par screens that bring the whole package down. I feel like Lenovo and ASUS led the field for a while with their amazing 16:10 500nits 165Hz IPS screens. I would that to be on this laptop at a minimum.
If it’s cheaper and it’s just the screen that’s fine by me, I’ll hook to a monitor at home

It looks good but think the Nitro with it's oversized vents and red accents looks more gaming centric than this one.

It's pretty interesting because the Acer Predator Helios Neo 14, with Ultra core 9 185H with RTX4060, 32GB ram, 1TB storage is selling at RM7,799 (1657USD) and it is the only configuration available in Malaysia. I wonder why

I searched this model both on Flipkart & Amazon. It isn't available till now
besides the unupgradable RAM (as expected for a 14" laptops), the SSD is also limits up to 1TB according to official websites.. I dunno what they are thinking but this is unacceptable.. it should be at least, can be upgraded to 2TB..
other than that, I think this is a lovely laptop and I would buy it if not bcs of those cons..

should I get the Helios neo 14 with specs Ultra 9 185H processor, 32GB RAM, rtx4060 in around 1450 USD or the Asus rog g14 in 1650 USD?
The webcam and microphone are so bad on this one, that's a dealbreaker for me.

I would buy the Predator Triton 14 over this which is both cheaper and has better specs in some respects. So you get i7-13700H, 4070 (105w I think), magnesium chassis, per key RGB, 240hz gsync mini led panel. All for $1400 too! This laptop makes no sense to me at all!

This guy will never appreciate acer ever in his life for what price point acer is trying to get the same spec that other brands are not able to, also the build quality of acer is really good for the price as well, and what is with stickers, think we can ignore stickers for price, biggest problem for this laptop is sticker placement.

the helios lineup is going downhill now. it got so many problems and the price is getting steep. peak helios was the helios 300 (2020-21)
16gb soldered ram is just a deal breaker man, painful.

for 2024 14" gaming laptops yes
Yes, RAM is now very reliable and no need to worry about it breaking. Also, most other components will need to be updated before you worry about the speed of your RAM. So modular RAM is no longer needed. Just remember to buy what you need with some headroom if you think you may need more in the future.
@@andyH_England I need 64GB to work on my 3D renderings. From what I know most companies either max out at 32GB or overcharge for a 64GB option.
@@BrianZajac The Lenovo Pro 9i has a 64GB option in the UK. It is only £65 more than the 32GB option. The price is £2400 with 1TB SSD, miniLED, 4070 and Core Ultra 9.

acer bois all about cooling, the rest is secondary for them
120hz IPS panel, huge bezels, thick and large chassis, fully soldered RAM, bad speakers, bad battery performance, bad keyboard... These are too many cons to be justified by a $200 saving.
Ryzen better with the same 40gbit USB 4 and I hate 16:10 on laptops today, they need to stop doing that they are for gaming and 16:10 looks worse for games than 16:9. And 144hz is enough.
Agreed. For Gaming on laptops I prefer 16:9 and If I'd get 17" with thin bezels the better (like the Dell xps which had 17" but thin bezels hence making overall laptop smaller/more portable like a 15" best of both worlds.

Yes and yes. The 4060 and 4070 aren't too far apart. The real upgrade to a 4060 is a 4080

@@entropicking6007 i wouldn't go for alienware, my picks are either the legion pro 5 or the acer predator helios 16. Good designs, good thermals and good softwares. If you go with acer double check the ram sticks, acer has a tendency to ship single channel memory, which isn't the biggest issue in ddr5 but still worth noting
@@entropicking6007 yes, aim for 1440p, if you can't hit 60fps then use DLSS, or just reduce graphics to high

Absolutely appalling. I can live with a bad keyboard, an inaccurate trackpad, a dim low-res and slow screen; but stickers that crooked; that is just a deal breaker.

Who in their right mind would get this over the G14. Maybe if it was $1k or less. And why is Acer still recycling this dated ugly design? Acer, Gigabyte and MSI are the dinosaurs of the gaming laptop space with their dated, unchanging, low effort perfunctory laptops.
4070...sigh, it just destroys any interest I might have in a laptop that comes with that overpriced, gimped GPU.
Either get a 4060 laptop, which will be significantly cheaper, with 90% of the performance of a 4070 or save up for a 4080 laptop which will be upto 50% faster than a 4070.
