Did you boil the cauliflower first? Because I did that before but it wasn't consistent. I am going to try this dish again tomorrow. I am going to use almond flour, fat free milk and use extra olive oil.
@@carmelitacarter3913 Yes. I did boil the cauliflower, but only 5 minutes, cooled down a lot before dipping in batter. I left the florets as large as possible. I didn’t change anything to the recipe. It took almost 20-25 minutes to turn that beautiful brown. We noticed they were not greasy, as if the grease flowed through but not into. We’re making them again for company this week. We deep fried them in Mazola, not pan fried. Delicious. Not greasy. Best of luck!

We make it all the time. The Indian way of making it is ... skip the boiling part. Prepare the batter, dip the cauliflower florets. Deep fry on medium heat till half done. Take them out, let them sit for a while(the steam inside will cook the cauliflower). Now before going for final run, give each floret a gentle crush so that the coating cracks and deep fry it on high heat this time. Cracking will let excess steam and water to flow out and you will have even crispier "pakoda's" as we call them. Enjoy with your favorite dip or sauce!
Back from the end of the 1970's, thru the early 1980's, many of my Dad's family, in Pennsylvania, got into Battering & Deep Frying, both Cauliflower & Broccoli Spears; and making a Velveeta Sauce to dip it in. We all LOVED it!! I never knew exactly why, but after just a few, short years, both my Grandmother & my Aunt, quickly got rid of their Deep Fryers, and never made either of those dishes anymore. I've sure missed both of these dishes, and after seeing this video, I've began CRAVING them, lately! LOL!!! 😊 I could make them for myself, but I have no idea just what their recipes were, for either the Batter, OR the Velveeta Sauce! Ugh!! I'm glad I was able to give you the reminder!! 🙂 I sure wish I had a Deep Fryer these days, & the proper cooking set-up to even try my hand at that making some of that Velveeta Cheese Sauce!! Unfortunately, my Fiancee' & I, have had to live in a Motel, since April 1, 2020. We first came to Texas on August 4th, 2019, at the urging of my future Step-Son, who was then living with a friend of his, in a nice Ranch-Style, house here. Unfortunately, he rather fibbed to his Mom & I, about his living situation here, (I guess because he really missed his Mom, & wanted her to come & live near him), and thus, a few hrs. after we arrived here, we found out that we could only stay with him for 3 days, & then we had to find somewhere else to go! My future Son-In-Law says he plans to buy an Electric Griddle, & my Fiancee' & I, plan to buy another Hot Plate, and a Crock Pot, as well. It's either we bend the rules a bit until we can finally move out of here, or we won't keep properly fed, & nourished! Sheesh! Problem is, it's been hard to save up enough money, so that we can buy those extra appliances! But Lord willing, we'll be able to come up with funds to get them sometime soon.
