First real speedrun I've done of this game (Green Hill didn't really count). The record on the leaderboards is 1:03.10, so I was very close, but ended up being a little bit off unfortunately. This guy's almost completely luck based, so this run sorta sucked to do. There's a couple little tricks though. First, you can abuse the homing attack glitch on the outer ring sections to get hits 2 and 6 very quickly. Second, if you hide behind the cannons he'll charge by himself, which is a lot faster than attacking the cannons. The problem is it's random how long he takes to charge, and which cannon he decides to charge at... If I kept at it I could definitely end up with the record, and this could definitely be improved to 1:02 or 1:01, but this is close enough.

Talk about chance. If you haven't noticed yet, the homing attack and sliding is actually faster than boosting; boosting is practically acceleration.
The trick to that is you homing attack him the same frame you hit him with the boost. It's fairly easy.

Nice finding the homing attack glitch, the problem is that eggman is very unpredictable :/

Even in Generations, Egg Emperor is still pathetically easy.
Well, it's better than Triple Trouble at least. If you can get it for a discount, it'd be worth it, but not full price.
Honestly, when this game becomes TASable, I can easily see sub 1 on this boss. One time while I was TAing it, he charged WHILE I WAS IN THE BOOSTING ANIMATION GOING INTO THE CENTER. It was certainly odd, but that's a timesaver that could be useful for a TAS.....
I'm really tempted to buy this. I wanna have some Sanic on the go without resorting to the GameGear games. Is it good? Obviously, it doesn't hold a candle to PC Generations, but I'd love to know if it's worth a buy for fun.

I KNEW YOU COULD HIT HIM TWICE IN A ROW I'm not crazy afterall! I can only manage 1:15 which is still around a top 50 or 60 time (57th place I think?) but I could never figure out how to nail him that fast on the running section. I know the trick to the Cannon section but it's pure luck. Ah well. At least I'm top 5 on Big Arm but he's a joke so that's really nothing special!
Hmmmm.... I'll like to challenge your run... But maybe on a stage that isn't so luck based.
This game is all about the time trials after all.
I'll love to see how you'll do vs. rivals races. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get close to those leaderboard records.
yo dude, dunno if you ever got it solved, but I found a setting on the 3DS viewer software that lets it port the audio through the USB cable. With that then just use stereo mix.
My secrets! D: (I'm not posting videos of my runs to keep my routes hidden.) Nice job! I'm the guy with 1:03.10. The run is extremely luck based and took me a lot of time.
@zozo zimar: That's a great time! I think I'm more of a route finder than a person who perfects runs, so I probably won't be beating it. I think l will go for reclaiming Mushroom Hill Act 2 or taking Tropical Resort Act 2 next (the Tropical Resort Act 2 run is extremely difficult, but I think the record isn't as perfected).

Here's my problem, in this version I have the egg emperor goes flying top far to catch up, my best possible strat is to just keep boosting and gaining more boosts throughout other sections.
my best is still nothing compared to this.
I've always wanted to speed run one game level, but it seems im incapable of speedrunning any sonic, Mario, Metroid or any game at all, as I get the average player time regardless.

I know it's the 3DS, but why is the checkered floor where he runs off to as pielated as a DS texture and why are the cannons pixelated...eh, what this battle's missing is Eggman's TAKE THIS--TAKE THIS--TAKE THIS...CHAARGE!

better boss then the one in Heroes.

It IS a Sonic Heroes boss.
Every boss in this game is a boss from another game.
Every level in this game is a level from another game.
Hence the name of the game; "Sonic *Generations*".
