Ben: I seen the Dell power-edge R910 server on E-Bay for around $1000.00 each. They are fairly new and use them in the music industry. Did you even try to sell them yet? Nice haul. Your back yard has really turned into a recycling center for computers. Been awhile since i watched one of your video's in the backyard. Holycow!
Not worth that much with that CPU's inside Here ej.uz/DELL_R910 is a newer one for 329EUR. Even then you would need to consider electricity and cooling costs.
@@ArthursHD that 329 euros is without ram at all add 256gb of memory and is atleast double the price
This seems an older model. The newer might sell but these? I doubt it.
@@sebrassino These will absolutely sell. It may be old for businesses, however these are literal gold for hobbyists such as myself.
@@ArthursHD the used server market is going pretty well in Australia. Huge divide between "haves" and "havenots" for decent internet access so cloud isn't always an option.

Those servers R910's are still very powerful considering their age. Kind of feels like a waste to scrap a perfectly working server with that much compute power.
sad to see it scraped could gave someone a good deal and you would have made. it would have lived another life
It's sad because you can sell them for 10times there scrap value same with 99 percent of computer parts

14:11 APC and UPSes with batteries are especially great stored outside in the flooding rain
Ben, these servers are going for several hundred dollars (US) each if the are complete and functional. I say put them up for sale instead of scrapping. Sell them as a lot of ten for $5000.00. Some company will buy them.
No one is going to buy them. Companies don't really care about the cost of computer hardware because they will write it off, but what they need besides the hardware is the post-sale service and reliability which will be non-existent in this case.

Hi Ben, Dieter here in Brisbane, I have been trying to get my hands on the servers but still have not been able to get my hands on many. It is hard to get into the system as the IT guys are a tight nit group and I am now only 6 months in to the business, but still trying to get a foot in to the server recycling.
I am doing prety good with the TV repair men here in Brisbane and now have 5 giving me all there leftovers, so I am picking up about 70 to 100 TVs a month from them and around 20 a month I pickup myself and the pile is stacking up.
The way things are going I will probably go into plastics recycling too as there is no one that recycles plastic in Brisbane and all off shore are still closed due to covid restrictions.
This was a great video and only hope I get to see servers like these someday.

@@patricksimons560 Any of these old Dell servers are completely off the table here in the UK for a home user. My R710 uses 220 watts of power idle. Absolutely absurd amount of power for it to sit there and do nothing. In fact, you could buy probably 5 of them a year just in the energy costs, which is why I'm going to sell mine for whatever I can get for it and transition to a lower consumption tower server instead.

@@eWasteBen I'm on the east coast of the US it's almost 4:00pm for me I'm guessing it's almost 6 a.m. for you if you did a morning live stream say around 9 a.m. 10 a.m. your time you would catch most of us between 3 and 7 pm here 😁

Nice find. It may be difficult to sell individually, but I am sure you could lot together, 10 or 20, and sell for more than triple their scrap value.

Those xeon processors have a resurgence due to the new x79 motherboards. Worth around $50. I'm looking to buy one myself.
those heat sinks look like the 2 i have in my HP Workstation computer i use.

More like 50-100k a piece in this config back in 2012.
Base price usually is quite cheap, memory and good CPU is what costs the most.
Actually still go for over $1K - $2K.

You should do a video how you get given these computers in bulk
I wish you'd be a little more careful with 'working' scrap, as an IT guy it kills me to watch you ripping things out willy nilly, touching delicate parts without ESD protection. You can kill the RAM modules by picking it up without grounding yourself. And let's not even start with leaving them in the rain!
LOL, that's the way most people do it. Almost nobody except for factories does that.
@@firesurfer i do xD Ex IT guy lol.. i collected old 486 and pentum Pro pc's from the curbs of highschools and uni's :P made them run again.. and sold them to collector's :P or just made retro gaming pc's out of them with classic games one it :) worked like a charm and no e waste! but. propper materials to handle it. cus in the begin i asked my self why working pcs where dead after just cleaning them..... ESD is what i learnd!

Wow, heartbreaking. That server whole would have sold for what 1000kg of scrap would be worth... DDR3 rams sell for $3-8 per 4GB. If you didnt want to sell the whole server as a whole, you could have just sold the ram as ONE or two lots for $1 per gig and someone would have bought it instantly on ebay as Buy it now
