- This is our first video in our series on our Tour du Mont Blanc hike in July of 2022. We want to share as much information as possible for those who may be desiring to do this hike and also share the wonderful views that we saw. We used Pygmy Elephant as our tour operator and highly recommend them.

For our stay in Chamonix we stayed in Hotel Le Morgane which is an excellent boutique hotel right on the river.

Hey Tim and Peggy, it was a pleasure helping you organize your tour. Glad to see the rain cleared up for you!
this area is beautiful.. worth the visit
Thank you so much for sharing, cant wait to see each day as you upload, subscribed.
Thank you. It is a joy to relive it as we do the videos.
We are doing the same (organized by PE) departing 8/24. Can't wait for the next video.
I think you'll be happy with what they provide. I also think you will be amazed at the experience. You will see some of the greatest scenery in the world and will feel a great sense of accomplishment for completing this trek.
If you have any questions about this day, drop them here and we'll do our best to answer.
You two are amazing! Traveling very light! I have a question on your first day. Did you consider going up to the summit of Brevent? I'm wondering if it is very technical. Also, do you know how hard of a hike it is from Brevent to Aiguillette des Houches before dropping down to Les Houches? I don't think you went there, but if you did, please let me know. Any suggestions of where to stay in Les Houches? Thank you! Also, what about ladders? Aren't there ladders???
Wow, so nicely done! Was so great sharing the trail with you guys. For your followers: We started at Les Houches, which is the traditional starting place. Was fine, but you are right, rather better to start in Chamonix. And getting there a day early you can be more relaxed about flight delays and such - smart move!
Adventure!salut,very amazing - )
I am not sure why the recommendation of starting in Planpraz instead of Les Houches. Can you explain please? Thank you!
I can really only speculate based on what we experienced. Our tour operator recommended it and we did not really question the decision. Here is what I think are some reasons: 1) Chamonix is a great start end spot as it has more to do than Les Houches on pre and post tour days. 2) We saw a lot of folks who started at Les Houches who ended up not doing the Planpraz to Les Houches due as a last day due to the "finality" feeling you have when you get to Planpraz or La Flégère. It sure is easy to cable down and be done. 3) Chamonix, being a bigger town, probably has more accommodations for the start finish for those booking the tours. I rather like the way we did it starting at Planpraz, but I don't have a reference of starting at Les Houches.
I am assuming you stayed in private rooms. Did you take/use a sleep liner?
We did stay in private rooms. We took lightweight sleep liners but only used them in Elisabetta.
