My thoughts exactly. If he wants to do a wine course, better wait it out until he can cashflow it anyway. Dude keeps getting into debt over courses + not having emergency fund.
I might be imagining it, but I feel like I could tell Caleb actually really liked this guy as a person. Probably the dog thing - it says a lot about him as a person that he took that responsibility
Watching you for about 6 months Caleb! We have a 1 month emergency fund and we’re starting to kill debt at the beginning of December. We should be out of nearly $15K debt by April. Thank you!!
I managed to work a lot of additional hours this last period. Paid off 5 different CC’s totaling around $2500. Seriously watching Caleb has lit a fire under my ass to pay off my CC’s. I have two remaining totaling $9k. Hope to pay it off by April. Thank you for everything you do Caleb
Lately, every new episode I watch, more and more people on here need less of financial help and more counseling or therapy help 😢 I hope they're getting the help they need. Thank you Caleb for tackling the money side for them.
Unfortunately America does not care enough about their citizens to have Universal Health Care, which would cover counselling. Only part of America’s population has really good benefits that covers mental health care.
@@ericahoelscher3733how is it exploitative to help people actively seeking your help? Bad mental health and bad finances go hand in hand and each can be a cause of the other. UCF offered a “coding boot camp” that I tried to sign up for. I ended up not having the money, but the guy called and emailed me DAILY for two full months. They still constantly call me telling me about loans I can take to pay for it, and no matter what I do they will not leave me alone. Edit: it was the same $17,000
Good just keep ignoring them. The market is terrible for tech. So many of my friends got laid off or are still job searching a year later. Sincerely a coding bootcamp graduate that has a shit ton of debt because of it.

Honestly all he needs is to pick up more work shifts. You have so much free time. If he’s making 3k on just two days a week he should have no problem doubling that. He only has two classes per week. It’s definitely grind time. I wish this guy the best I feel hopeful for him. He’s very aware of his situation so hopefully he can put it to work!!
The social media era has made the social media youngsters thinking they can film their life and make content and make it big as an influencer. Why dedicate time and energy to anything when social media is flooded with influencers who just make it (in others eyes)
Hector you can do this!! You seem like a really good dude with an awesome support system. ❤ I had $13k in high interest debt at 25 and was able to pay it off by 30 while paying out of pocket for grad school. If I can do it then so can you bc I had zero family support. One thing I did was be transparent with my friends about my budget. It was hard but my friends understood why I couldn’t travel with them or do big expensive nights out. I’m 37 now and still don’t know what I’m doing with my career lmao, but I’m secure and own my home. As a server, take care of your feet and wear good shoes. There’s no shame in working service industry jobs, especially in a tourist area like Orlando. ❤❤❤❤❤
Echoing this, service can be a lucrative career if you take it seriously. My husband is a restaurant manager for a high end place, the best servers there work 3-4 days a week and make over $120k a year, most probably average $70k-$100k. You have to find the right places and treat it like a career, but its totally doable in a bigger city.
One of my favorite episodes so far. So relatable and realistic. I am finding encouragement to keep reflecting on my own mindset on this journey to pay off my debts and get my emergency fund!
I feel like watching your videos regularly push me and give me motivation to make better financial decisions. Like instead of getting doordash, going to the grocery store and buying food there. Even if it's as small as a microwave frozen meal, that's still cheaper than doordash. I'm not in any debt but I'm actively working to downsizing my lifestyle inflation. Thank you so much for the hard work you put into your videos!
Really productive episode. Got a lot of hope for this guy. Recognizes/owns his mistakes and clearly understands what's needed. Looking forward to his follow-up!
Perpetual student syndrome. When you get 80% into a career path and convince yourself you can't do it and jump on a different path... to get 80% of the way there and repeat. I knew two dudes in college like this, both were in mid 30s and had been in college since 18 with no degrees to show for it.
Thats why you need to do something you actually love despite people always pushing for STEM careers because of the money. A degree is useless if you don't have the motivation to do that job for the rest of your life even if it makes money.
Insanity. I post this every episode, adult children is one of this country's biggest problems. In my mid thirties I bought two homes and had three children just working a factory laborer job. Wife was a secretary.
There is a lot of signaling in the US that service jobs are “lower class” when all labor has value. We (the US) also signal that everyone needs long term schooling, but it’s not a fit for everyone. There’s so many paths out there and most adults don’t have clear, straight path career-wise. ❤
@@la6136I’d actually argue the opposite, you need to pick a path and stick to it even if you don’t love it. This guy doesn’t love being a server but he’s doing it, might as well do something lucrative you don’t love if that’s the case
@@Ирина-и8щ3м your degree may not be your favorite thing but ANY bachelors will help you when applying for jobs so it may be worth finishing *something* to expand your career opportunities
I really appreciated the moment of perspective. Borrowed from grandparents to buy a car. I saw it the moment it happened. Sometimes you really be GOIN' IN on these folks, and most times, it's needed, but it's always good to keep that perspective. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the episodes Caleb It was honestly this show that helped me get over my retail therapy and shopping addiction I was 25k in consumer debt last year Now I only need to pay off 3k more by the end of the year!

A lot of EKG techs work 12hr shifts so you would only have to work 3 days a week typically. So you could work at the hospital and get the benefits through them and also work at the restaurant a couple days a week to make extra money

Low-key this is a great series Caleb. Ive been showing this to friends and family. Hopefully they can build more self awareness for their bad spending habits
careful. you have n oidea how your people might react. some can see this as "hey i thnk youre poor , make bad choices, and suck with money. get help" and sadly some people are too prideful to understand. i lost alot of friends by saying no to hard drugs and wasting money. they turned on me , just acted like i didnt exist. ah but then when they fell on hard times, guess who came asking for money , 'hey hows your house" like who the fuck start s conversation like that right ? fucking scum. look out man
Why does everyone preface their statements with "low-key" for things that are obvious? Caleb has over 800k subs. It's very much high-key. Another phrase with a specific purpose that became a part of casual conversation, destroying the actual meaning.
Great episode! You guys see the difference between someone born in the US and Puerto Rico. The person from Puerto Rico doesn’t use the “mental health problem” to justify his financial decisions.
Greatly appreciated this episode. For me this was one of the most relatable one as far as age and where he’s from even the kind of job he’s working. I’m not in insane debt but this was definitely eye opening 😅. Appreciate you Caleb.
I worked as a server from 18 to 23, and I always claimed my tips (cash and credit). I also worked/lived in South FL so no state income tax definitely helped.
You are not wrong. My Rottie has damaged her knee tendon. Surgery could be up to 6k will be at least 3k. All depends on what they find once in there🤦. It's crazy expensive.
The thing with affirm, zip pay, klarana(sp), and afterpay is that people take them out one at a time and before they know, they got like 4 or 6 of those going on, and those payments start to add up to way more than they could handle.
The fact that it's so easy for anyone to go into debt with student loans when they don't even have the desire or fortitude to get educated with that money is highly unsettling. Education should be accessible to anyone who wants it, but people who don't want it shouldn't be able to bury themselves in student debt like this. Mind blowing.
This was a refreshing episode to watch, this guy wants to fix his situation, he is aware of his choices, doesn't fight Caleb, and Caleb is able to calm down and relate to him much more. Really feels like two partners working towards a common goal. Awesome episode
I'd really like to see an update episode with someone who actually came on the show, got screamed at by Caleb, then followed the budget, and is now on the road to success. I see comments from folks saying watching these videos helped them, but they weren't on the show.
Just curious as a potential graduate student in a few years, did/do you have student loans from undergrad, and if so did you pay them off before you enrolled in grad school?
Long term viewer from Ireland & it would be so cool to see you team up with another awesome financial RUclipsr like Patrick Boyle and audit someone from Ireland! 🇮🇪 (Or from anywhere, teamed up with a professional from that place) it would be an epic series!
I graduated from university in 2004 making a little over $32K annually. 19 years later my salary is over $170K, not including bonuses. Taking out student loans and paying them off was worth it for me. Hope he finds his path in life. 🙏🏽 And folks, I was solely referring to the aspect of decision-making concerning a person’s future. While the matter of the increasing tuition fees was NOT the focus of my statement, it certainly presents an opportunity for fruitful conversation.
@@CalebHammer just wanted to say thank you for your advice btw, while I've never been in serious debt, your videos did make me have a look at my finances and cut out a bunch of bs spending and build up an emergency fund Which has been such a relief since I've been unable to work due to eye surgery due the last few months but between living with my parents and a cushion of cash I'm super not worried about it Thanks for all you do dude 💜
All servers and waitstaff make at least minimum wage in America. They have a small hourly wage but if they don't make min wage with their tips added them their employer is obligated to pay the difference. Don't ever think they really trying to survive on 3 bucks an hour. Most wait staff in America make MORE than minimum wage as a result of their tips

I’m glad Caleb shows emotion and how passionate he is with the guests. These guests need to know how bad they are financially. Most of them are still young and can get out of it if they are focused. Would love to see follow ups on some of the guests. Thanks for sharing!
I like to think I’m a smart financially. I’m 26, with about 8k in investments and Caleb (through his show) convinced me to build an emergency fund. I now have almost 3k in an emergency fund, and a 5k Line of credit for emergencies as well. Once I get 5k in my emergency fund, everything will be where I need it to be. Let me tell you, feeling more financially safe as an adult feels freaking amazing. Thanks Caleb 😊
Wow you managed to articulate exactly why I hate using the darker and lighter colors in palettes. I'm light skinned and very muted and low contrast so it actually makes sense! I recently tried some Viseart palettes because of you and I think they might be my new favorite brand ❤
My son graduated from UCF and it is a great school. I'm glad he pointed that the "boot camps" are NOT official UCF courses. I thought it was DeVry he was talking about.
What blows my mind about this series Caleb is the correlation between Americans and Brits and living beyond your means. As a Brit myself, watching people’s debts spiral out of control is absolutely insane. At least here in the UK, Uni loans are based on the Bank of England base rate and you don’t have to start paying until you earn X amount and it’s written off 30 years after you start paying or 65 whichever comes first. Plus our loans aren’t insane like the US. It would be so great to see you do an audit on someone outside the US. Because debt issues are globally universal. Keep it up ❤️
I think this all the time. Especially with the class/wealth divide in the UK and the different ISAS we have here (such as lifetime and GIA accounts). I think it would be interesting. I’ve noticed at least in my age group that less people buy a new car and even new cars aren’t as much as they seem to be in the US. Also funny when he says earning the equivalent of £20 per hour isn’t a lot considering minimum wage here
As much as I enjoy getting one over the Americans, we actually have the 2nd highest student debt after graduation only second to America - our student crisis is equally horrendous
@@Ryan-wx1bi The government probably had a good intention (if it wasn't a result of lobbying).. While the outcome is a correlation, the blame is on the education system.
There are so many financial Hector's out there. I know at least 12 of them. He doesn't know what he wants but he wants everything. He just needs some major discipline, financial education, and grind like crazy to bring in more money. If he can make a change at his age he'll be good. I'm rooting for him. And make yourself a priority. Be that guy that everyone comes to later in life when your REALLY good. Those ppl can drain you.
I really liked this one. Quite the nice switch to see a well spoken and humble man who does not argue with you on everything like a child. Took the roasting like a man as well. Really hope he makes it all the way through and finds his thing in life. Sometimes that career choice can be one of the harder choices in life. Please bring him back in the future.
I also hate school and jumped around. What I realized was I may not ever know what I wanted to do and in reality just needed a job I didnt hate. I eventually found a job that was just driving around doing bank runs for a law office and mail room. Ok pay, not stressful. 12 years later I'm doing various tech support for a legal department, and other random tech related tasks. My manager treats me awesome, I'm paid well, not stressed out. Is it a dream? No. But I'm not miserable, I needed no schooling and just worked my way with experience into a job that eventually created a role just for me. Theres so many jobs out there no one talks about and somwttimes you just get in on the ground floor of something that's doable and let it organically grow. It doesn't all have to be school and traditional jobs.
I see a lot of people my age (and younger) who aren’t sure about their career but they feel pressure to find something they will absolutely love doing for the rest of their lives, so they make huge life decisions based on nothing else but external expectations and pressure. It really helped me when I realised that whatever I chose at 25 wouldn’t be my final career, but that I just had to get started and keep moving. It can be debilitating to feel like the first job after your ‘college job’ (like serving) needs to be the one you stick with for life, just make sure your next job is always better than the last one. Maybe go from serving to customer service, then you find out you like account management, then you might grow into project management or development or something completely different. It doesn’t have to be one big jump, just focus on each step and you’ll start to learn what you like and what you’re good at.
Hector, I hope you see this if you like talking to people my local Caterpillar dealer is looking for parts clerks. You actually help people. You do not have to pester people to buy anything and clients are happy to get the parts they need when their equipment is broken. My local dealer pays 25$ to 35$ an hour no experience needed just a high school diploma and a clean background.
I really like how he gave his explanation but would mention it didn't excuse the action. I think he has a good shot at turning this around. Best of luck!
From what episodes i have binged the last few weeks, this is the first one not worried about "ruining" their credit from closing credit cards and knows it isn't an issue for the current goals.

Retirement gets to you faster than people think. It’s always a. Very long way off, then it hits you like a brick in the face & if there is nothing under the mattress it’s scary
I’m NHA certified, CCT certified. He can make really really good money if he follows down the EKG path. Starting off he’ll be around $15 based off his area. For AZ I got my first job at $17.50. AM year later I found a work from home job where I’m double what I made in the hospital. And I have room to grow. If he can just settle down and follow that EKG path he could have a good career that could pay off his debts.

Both of you had a great and fun conversation. I enjoyed the smackdown! I hope we get to see him in a follow up episode
wine sommelier course 😆😆😆
My thoughts exactly. If he wants to do a wine course, better wait it out until he can cashflow it anyway. Dude keeps getting into debt over courses + not having emergency fund.
I might be imagining it, but I feel like I could tell Caleb actually really liked this guy as a person. Probably the dog thing - it says a lot about him as a person that he took that responsibility
I’ve never seen a guest hit Caleb with an Uno Reverse on the Course Careers pitch before. Guy really made him say “maybe this isn’t for you” 😂
“I couldn’t afford rent AND the barstool” THATS THE POINT don’t buy the barstool. I died laughing at this part Caleb’s reaction *chefs kiss*
Love it when guests are humble and can acknowledge why they spend the way they do. I think he is going to be alright.
Watching you for about 6 months Caleb! We have a 1 month emergency fund and we’re starting to kill debt at the beginning of December. We should be out of nearly $15K debt by April. Thank you!!
🎉🎉
This is awesome!!
I work at a bank and checked you out. You’re broke!
Congratulations on paying off the debt!! Checking in on April how’s it go for you so far?
Niceee keep at it
How’s your progress? Emergency fund and no bad debts?
Lately, every new episode I watch, more and more people on here need less of financial help and more counseling or therapy help 😢 I hope they're getting the help they need. Thank you Caleb for tackling the money side for them.
Unfortunately America does not care enough about their citizens to have Universal Health Care, which would cover counselling. Only part of America’s population has really good benefits that covers mental health care.
I don't know how much he does behind the scenes, but he does usually budget therapy in, so he does at least something there too.
Totally agree and it comes across as exploitative, especially because the situations just keep getting worse and the mental health needs more obvious.
@@ericahoelscher3733how is it exploitative to help people actively seeking your help? Bad mental health and bad finances go hand in hand and each can be a cause of the other. Helping finances can help mental health, and it certainly helps get access to mental health services
The team also isn't aware of the mental health things beforehand in some cases
UCF offered a “coding boot camp” that I tried to sign up for. I ended up not having the money, but the guy called and emailed me DAILY for two full months. They still constantly call me telling me about loans I can take to pay for it, and no matter what I do they will not leave me alone.
Edit: it was the same $17,000
Thats so sketchy.
$17,000 for a coding boot camp?!?
I know coding boot camps going for like
Good just keep ignoring them. The market is terrible for tech. So many of my friends got laid off or are still job searching a year later. Sincerely a coding bootcamp graduate that has a shit ton of debt because of it.

I did the same mistake but I ask for a refund, the bootcamp is not worth it at all
@@lulu-dr4ehwhy do you spread lies like this? Are you trying to eliminate competition? We NEED more GOOD software developers. Like we are in dire need of them.
Hey Caleb, turn the fiddle leaf if you want it to grow straight. Each video it is leaning further and further to the right.
Great content as always
I feel like watching your videos regularly push me and give me motivation to make better financial decisions. Like instead of getting doordash, going to the grocery store and buying food there. Even if it's as small as a microwave frozen meal, that's still cheaper than doordash. I'm not in any debt but I'm actively working to downsizing my lifestyle inflation. Thank you so much for the hard work you put into your videos!
👏👏👏 I started getting frozen dinners for the same reason.
I did deliveries for a while and I'm pretty sure EVERYONE was high. The only reason someone spends 50 bucks to get hot dogs.
Same I put Caleb on as soon as the direct deposit hits😂
We love your consistent hard work
And thank you for your consistent support!

This guy has his heart in the right place. Breakup was the best thing he could have experienced.
The way I have been binge watching these episodes I didn’t even realize this came out today. Safe to say I am obsessed with this channel.
Me too
Really productive episode.
THANK YOU FOR THIS, I was going to sign up for UCF-bootcamp, thanks for saving me
Be careful, these companies are notorious in Florida and it's not just with UCF, but also FL community schools
I really appreciated the moment of perspective. Borrowed from grandparents to buy a car. I saw it the moment it happened. Sometimes you really be GOIN' IN on these folks, and most times, it's needed, but it's always good to keep that perspective. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the episodes Caleb
It was honestly this show that helped me get over my retail therapy and shopping addiction
I was 25k in consumer debt last year
Now I only need to pay off 3k more by the end of the year!
I really like this guy. He’s got good intentions and takes accountability. He wants to do better and I think it’s good chances he’ll do what Caleb outlined. I hope to see him in a follow up episode, right on track financially and better with himself overall.
dude has the perfect opportunity to do the envelope method because of the cash he gets
A lot of EKG techs work 12hr shifts so you would only have to work 3 days a week typically. So you could work at the hospital and get the benefits through them and also work at the restaurant a couple days a week to make extra money
Then he had to work more than 40 hour weeks ...
What blew my mind is watching for a year and not doing anything. 😱I've been in this rabbit hole of Caleb's videos for maybe a month and I've gotten myself out of any and all debts🎉
Samesies…I’ve been into “Finance RUclips” for the last 6 months or so…Been constantly consuming Caleb, Grahm Stephan and Dave Ramsey….Paid off all debts.
How has dude been watching for a year but made no progress?? 🤦♂️
Caleb, you have no idea how much youve helped my family and I! We appeciate these videos!! We love you!
This part killed me...
Caleb, "39% TV, must be a nice F'in TV!"
My guy...super calm, "It's a Sony, it's pretty nice."
Now that I got my saltiness for the day out of the way, yes, it is a great series and I encourage my friends to watch it too lol
Same!
Financial audit Friday!!! My favorite🤑😀
I have so much hope for him!! He’s definitely gonna make it. This was a great one to watch and he seems like a super cool guy.
I'm totally rooting for Hector!!
I worked as a server from 18 to 23, and I always claimed my tips (cash and credit). I also worked/lived in South FL so no state income tax definitely helped.
Congrats, you just made your federal income tax higher 😂
But why🤣
If you have a dog you literally need to add 10k to your emergency fund 😅😅
Good point!
You are not wrong. My Rottie has damaged her knee tendon. Surgery could be up to 6k will be at least 3k. All depends on what they find once in there🤦. It's crazy expensive.
Yes but also pet insurance
@@bailey6585pet insurance can be great! But I’ve had mixed experiences with it.
Use your brain and make a decision before you go into debt like that
If someone wants to go to college let them. If they want to take loans let them. Stop trying to gate keep education.
@@web3moonbear367no one's gate keeping it. And he doesn't want to go to school but still did it anyway

He had a few follow upw that were making progress within a few months off the top of my head, Adriannah & josiah
Thank you for your hard work Caleb! I’m a graduate student and I listen to your videos to and from school everyday

@@EluulolI wouldn’t say most make more then minimum wage but that’s definitely the reason it’s an attractive job prospect for people even though the 2-3 they get paid an hour is objectively garbage.

I’m glad Caleb shows emotion and how passionate he is with the guests. These guests need to know how bad they are financially. Most of them are still young and can get out of it if they are focused. Would love to see follow ups on some of the guests. Thanks for sharing!
Orlando? Worried about how “slow” or “fast” things are in the fall going into winter? He definitely works at Disney lol

Also funny when he says earning the equivalent of £20 per hour isn’t a lot considering minimum wage here
People are drowning, and a drowning person will reach for anything. The politicians will promise crap and these fools will vote for it.
Britain is going down the drain faster than America surprisingly…
Caleb, you legend. Helping people out for years now.
I get to finish at 4pm on Friday (UK) so always put you on for my commute home. Thanks for the unbelievable consistency, its a highlight of my week!

WOOOOOOOOO OVER AN HOUR OF LOVE!
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
Great episode Caleb. You're saving people's lives out here!!
It doesn’t have to be one big jump, just focus on each step and you’ll start to learn what you like and what you’re good at.
holyshit Caleb, you're cranking out these videos super quick, keep it up man, love the content.
He records multiple in a day, idk how he does it without burning out. Some of these people are very frustrating
