I love his bad day fund, i think it demonstrates that he's recognized and is aware of his pitfalls and is able to mitigate impact by putting them in the plan. Instead of, like, not having anything set aside for those moments and then suddenly having a financial meltdown bc he didnt set aside the funds for the smaller "engine checks" (so to speak) beforehand.. He seemed open and receptive to your plan, i don't think he had everything made up in his head at all. I think this guest is the one I have the most hope for (assuming he diversifies away from copyrighted material, otherwise i fear a litigious company may make things much worse), I hope he returns in the future!

I understand Paul’s thinking by building in contingencies in his budget… but I also understand Caleb’s frustration/passion about the magnitude of his problem. What I would have appreciated from this video would have been a look at timelines with Paul’s budget and comparing them to Caleb’s no nonsense budget, I.e. how long each would take to help him to reach his goals. That realization might have been more impactful for Paul.
I know Caleb speaks of not having a one size fits all budgeting programme but I kinda be comes one size fits most when you don’t take into account humans’ imperfect humanness. In a perfect world people would adhere to a strict budget and easily get their shit together. Paul’s realization of his imperfection and including that in his plan is worth commending.
    That’s just my two cents.
Thank you Caleb for this content and your passion towards improving finances not just Americans but worldwide (I’m watching from Barbados) Thanks to your content I am working on getting out of debt and building a fully funded emergency fund.

This makes me very nervous. I don’t think he understands the severity of copyright infringement.. you may not care but the brands surely will. Especially using snoopy, or anything along the lines of Disney - they will come after you & sue you into the ground whether you’re making $100 or $100,000. If he’s making upwards of $80k+ from profiting off of copyright material that’s grounds for federal charges & jail time.

It helped tracking spending for 2 months but also seeing my expenses go down, was able to get an affordable rent bc I moved into a garage apartment. It is so easy to criticize and be judgemental, but he is doing really good and should be congratulated on the hard baby steps he is accomplishing at this moment to get out of the dreadful debt hole. Thanks for the perspective. I was getting irritated with Caleb hounding this guy, but it is likely because Caleb's gotten used to the insanely irresponsible guests. Paul sounds reasonable, and he knows what steps he has to take for lasting change and what allowances he has to make to ensure he doesn't implode from ultra restrictive budgetting.

And honestly, if people had the control to only spend 25 or 50 a month on fun, and this was their only expense not following his plan, I think Caleb would be happy at least 90% of the time. The issue is people dont only spend 25 or 50 a month coming out if this show typically, so people just need to take their finances in hand

I personally agree with Caleb's approach of no fun at the start. I do think you should add some fun after you make some major progress but going all in as you start leads to more success than being luke warm generally. I also don't disagree with highly intentional budgeting of fun as well if you are in the mindset to stick to that budget.
EDIT: Also, no fun until you are out of IRS debt is extremely logical.

Hearing Paul discuss his ADD/ADHD symptoms and being untreated for so long hit SOOOOOO close to home for me. My entire life was so structured up until graduating college, and my mental health just completely fell apart because I suddenly didn't have any obligations besides doing the bare minimum for my dead end job. Everything he said about executive disfunction, lack of time management, planning, etc. etc. omg it just hit my heart so hard because I TOTALLY understand where he's coming from. Retail therapy was and still is a BIG copium for me that I'm trying to manage on top of paying down debt, building savings, etc.
I appreciate so much that he opened up about those things because it really made me feel like my personal experiences with ADHD are not as unheard of as I thought. I'm still working to find some kind of structure again, and I really hope Paul and I and anyone else struggling with this journey all find it.

It has taken me a few years to really understand because I would think of it like Caleb in a sense of not wanting to just do the damn thing, but it’s not them not wanting to do the thing, it’s quite literally just how their brain kind of operates so they can do the thing more successfully. Especially using snoopy, or anything along the lines of Disney - they will come after you & sue you into the ground whether you’re making $100 or $100,000. If he’s making upwards of $80k+ from profiting off of copyright material that’s grounds for federal charges & prison time.

@@quandale3311 Every artist cares about copyright infringement if they do or plan to make any amount of money off their art. Every photographer, author, illustrator, etc. that I personally know takes copyright extremely seriously. Without copyright law there is no little creator that makes it, because every mega corporation could just copy and out-distribute whatever the little creator comes up with.

We’re not meant to be robots and work our whole lives to barely get through. I have terrible anxiety and have lost jobs because I used alcohol to cope with it. It’s a lot of mental health issues out there, and that’s the bigger picture here. Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Keep up the great vids Caleb.

I so get it, I am a Huberman fan and watching that alcohol video really helped me realize that it greatly impacts my life and I do not consume. I posted the video on my FB to share with friends/family. Glad this man is getting the support he needs. Pull the free credit reports every so many months from the different companies to catch/fix things. Since I know many dealing with ADD this guy is so spot on for some people. I think a support group to check in will help him with accountability. I am surprised the anxiety caused by preparing for this show let him get any documents ready for the show. I hope he checks the comments and knows how much we are all pulling for him. Outright buy a phone, not the latest model, there are thousands on the secondary market.

I remember telling my 8th grade history teacher “just to let you know I have adhd” and the first thing he said to me was “ I know you do but don’t let it be an excuse for all your failures” and that really resonated with me because it gave me a sense of control and confidence. Thanks Mr. Gay if you’re still alive I wouldn’t be in the position I am now. Btw I failed the 8th grade that year just to add some context.

While I sympathize, I've seen way to many people these days use the "I have ADD/ADHD" or the "I was off my meds" excuse.
Knew a young man, who would constantly drop the ball or miss critical deadlines and this was always his excuse "I have ADHD."
It eventually became apparent that he was just going to laugh off ANY mistake or error he made with the same, old excuse.
You've got to take charge of your life buddy. The REAL world, especially the IRS, does not care about your condition or excuses.
