@@alicelaybourne1620 you quote "impossible" as if the drugged out single mom with the 40 year old baby daddy (who was "abusive", but still got custody of the kids?) and no job or the drug dealing schizo living out of his car working in "logistics" have an honest chance of actually following this plan.
This is an excellent channel that I have shared with my students whos families aren't great with money. They are thankful for the channel recommendation, and are committed to breaking the trend.
I wish my friend was like that. Showed her the taquitos one hoping she would go down the rabbit hole and i don’t think she even watched it. If she did she didn’t tell me - I’m assuming it probably popped up a few too ugly heads in her life she didn’t want to face
The worst part is that he can afford his lifestyle. But he can’t get it all right away. If he just saved for his motorcycle and his camera, etc. he would be able to afford it. He doesn’t have an income issue. Good for him, he just needs to learn how to spend within his means and save and he’ll be good. I spent the first half of my 20s learning that lesson and I’m in the second half paying off my debt. I’ll be debt free in a couple months (besides my car). I’m not in a rush to pay it off because it’s at 2%
I have a tip for you to share when you tell people to sell their vehicles if you haven’t covered it already. I sold my motorcycle in a Louisiana handshake deal and canceled my insurance soon after. Louisiana then charged me a sackful of fat stacks for every “uninsured” month I had my motorcycle. Since I couldn’t prove when I sold it, I ended up paying $500 in fines. Moral of the story is to notify the state you live in if you sell a vehicle and cancel your insurance - or keep good sales receipts.
Caleb, please know how incredibly helpful it is that you ask follow up questions on people’s careers, their paths leading to and through their positions, and stuff like that. I have a 14yo son who is gonna need to start thinking about this stuff in the next few years and it’s so nice to hear about these kinds of jobs that I’ve either never heard of or seemed like they’d be harder to get than they actually are. That info is so useful!
1. I love this channel SO much. Watch every episode. 2. Caleb, the new SAVE plan for student loans is income based but also does not accrue unpaid interest that the minimum payment doesn’t cover. It’s probably a great plan for most of your guests on the show. In my opinion it’s not a realistic option to pay the minimum for 25 years until the loans are forgiven, but it could significantly help while trying to get out of bad debt.
I just started a new job with a massive pay increase last month. Instead of letting lifestyle creep get the better of me like I have in the past, I’m keeping myself at my previous salary, taking all the additional income, and splitting it between debt payment and savings (high yield with Sofi 😉). I finally have a savings AND have paid off 2 credit cards in a month. Thank you for helping the thousands of us out here trying to be better with our finances!
Since watching in the past year, my wife and I have paid off 25K in student loans, I only have 19 months left on that, close to a 6 month emergency fund funded, and maxed out ROTH IRA.
Good for you! Hopefully you are also utilizing a high yield bank account for your more immediate cash as well, such as using Ally or if you can do direct deposit from your job, then SoFi also works
I love how Caleb says if your roommate is pissing you of have a conversation with them and if their a compete piece of shit just get a new one.... like it's that simple....I had a girl I had gone to school with contact me saying she had just moved back to town, that she was trying to buy a house but it fell through last min and she was getting killed living out of a hotel, like so many lies she said she had 2 jobs and all this money in the bank and I needed a roommate, so I went to the landlord and asked them to screen her like anyone else then put her on the lease... the landlord took the money for the background check then never actually ran it, I have the messages of them saying she was good to go the lease was signed and to go ahead and give her the keys.... she couldn't pay rent after the first month because she had no job she kept lying about being on paid leave to get settled and then story after story for a full month on top of finding out she was using some heavy stimulants with some delusions and mental issues, so after a month and a half I asked her to leave and she refused, I got in touch with the landlord who said they made a mistake and she had never actually sent the lease back to then so she wasn't technically on the lease and I said fine I'll pay the rent myself without a roommate just get rid of her and they thought all they would have to do is inform her she wasn't on the lease and she would leave... wrong... she refused to go anywhere the cops wer involved they wer at my apartment every week almost for the next 3 months... she would break into my room steal my shit, have mental breakdowns and just start bugging and there was literally nothing the cops could do because of squatters rights in ny.... she had to be evicted , which the landlord told me they wer doing but that was a lie... so I was stuck living with her for 7 months she didn't pay a single bill she didn't buy any of her own food and she had this little rat dog that shit all over the place.... my mental wellbeing went out the window, I finally said this is enough and after 4 months stopped paying the full rent and told the landlord I would start paying yr full amount again when she was gone... they said they understood, my lease came to a end and I left she was still there and 3 months later I found out I was due in court that I was being evicted from a apartment I hadn't lived in for 3 months, she didn't show up I did the judge took me off the eviction but this property manager not only wanted me to pay all the rent for when I was there but for the 3 months she had been there after I moved out😂😂😂the judge told them to get fuct basically and removed me... she somehow got a extension claiming that I sabotaged her getting to court😂😂 the judge let her have a new court date and she ended up dragging it out until September before being evicted so 5 months after I moved out she had been there in total for 10 months without paying rent..... the girl was scum and why I'll never have a roommate again ...I couldn't buy groceries cuz she would steal everything I bought, she would cook my Mac and cheese AND FEED IT TO HER DOG , after I stopped buying groceries I would catch her going through the garbage for shit I had thrown out.... fuck roommates
as someone recently diagnosed with adhd and really getting into why i‘m doing certain things the way i do and really work on myself, realizing my spending was completely out of balance, i kept buying stupid stuff because it gave me a dopamine high. the adhd tax is real and watching your videos made me so thankful i got a hold of my financial situation before it got out of hand. no loans. no credit card debt. no outstanding payments. a little amount in savings, insurance policies etc. but considering what i earn i could have probably put tripple the amount aside if i didn‘t always give in to my impulsive spending.
ADHD tax is real. It is a huge aspect to why I am not where I want to be financially. I'm working on reworking my brain processes when it comes to these things. I like to gamify things. Whenever I would save more money, I told myself I had a new high score. ;)
Stone, as someone who discovered their ADHD and autism in my 30s, after experiencing several episodes of autistic burnout without understanding what it was, the best advice I can give is get your finances in order. We MUST be equipped with a year+ emergency fund. Working when you just cannot handle anymore is soul-sucking. I went from relying on credit cards to stashing 50% of my take-home into investments and it feels like a weight off my shoulders to know I can stop working for a year and still be ok. Kudos to you for coming on here and making the sacrifices. I know you will be successful, and future you will be thankful.
"Pet insurance" might mean something different to both people - I think Caleb means insurance to cover pet veterinary expenses, and the guest saying it is part of his "other" insurance because of the breed makes me think he has required pet liability insurance as part of his rental agreement - which is unlikely to cover unexpected vet costs. Worth checking into, IMO.
I have one credit card. One personal loan. One car loan. A ton of student loan debt. I’ve been watching Caleb’s videos for a couple months. I’m working on it. Lately I’ve paid off medical debt. Working on the credit card now. Then will hit the car loan, the personal loan, and then the student loans.

Props to this guy for working his butt off to get his position, and for coming onto the show and recognizing he needed help managing his finances. I'm only 12 minutes in but he seems very upfront about his situation and bad habits, not acting dodgy or shady
ADHD can absolutely wreck someone's finances. And unfortunately, it's not as easy as just saying 'do better'. Treatment is paramount to get anything done.
This dude is great. He knew he was in a bad (somewhat) spot, came on the show, and genuinely listened to your advice happily. He's got a great head on his shoulders
Hey, as much as I love hearing about people's financial problems, I would also love to see people come on who have a good standing or what is an example who actually has their stuff together
Waited all day! Thank you again Caleb and superteam. This guy seems very sweet and I believe he's gonna do very well. Just very basic young guy who loves to have stuff and nice income kind of made it worse. I was same in my 20s. You go Stone 💪👍 I believe in you!
As a fellow ADHD person i feel for this guy. The impulse spending is real. I cant tell you how many times ive cleaned up my financial messes just to end up creating new ones in a couple months. We end up impulsively buying things we think will help solve our problems and they do for a bit and then we fall back into the same old routines. The thing that really helped me get my fully get my money in check was finding the right medication and some accountability from my husband.
ADHD is rough for finances. Pair it with my depression and it’s horrendous. Sometimes you’re just fighting for whatever hit of dopamine or serotonin you can get.
I paid off a consolidation loan that I took out before I found this channel. Only 2.5 years early. Next stop, an emergency fund, and then cash-flowing a wedding. Good inspirational and educational content on this channel.
I also have ADHD and what helps with my overspending is adding everything I like to my shopping cart, as if I’m going to purchase it, and then closing the browser cuz it’s not in the budget. Maybe a dangerous game but it works for me. And I make a list on my phone of things I want to buy. You’ll be surprised how much random crap you feel impulsed to buy and then realize it’s unnecessary after a few days.
If he wants to live in Colorado, even southern Colorado, he needs to keep in mind the difference in cost of living. I don’t know a ton about Iowa cost of living, but I’m fairly certain it’s much lower. A quick google search says the average cost of a two bedroom in Iowa is about $930 a month, but in Colorado you’re gonna be about $1650 a month. Gas is more expensive, food is more expensive, life is more expensive. I’m not gonna lie, I lived in Pueblo for a while and I loved it. That’s in southern Colorado, only about 45 minutes from the mountains. It’s cool, but $75k a year is not going to hit the same in Colorado. The Carolina’s are cheaper in general, though.
I just watched a ‘debt confession’ from someone in the states over 220k in debt - they earn 145k a year. And one stand out comment was ‘I’m already accustomed to this lifestyle’ and wanted to get other jobs/side hustles to pay off the debt, she thinks she can pay off in less than two years without budgeting. I just instantly thought she needs Caleb!
one thing I love about SoFi (I joined them on your referral, Caleb!) is their savings vaults. It's where I keep my emergency fund, other savings for specific personal goals, and I have one vault called 'splurge'. That's where we pull from when we want to do random fun things. If that vault is empty/insufficient, we don't do the thing at that time. SoFi has allowed me to get back into the envelope stuffing practice that helped me fund my wedding, plus your vaults earn the same high interest as their regular savings account. I love SoFi, in case you couldn't tell

I’m not 😂
@@alicelaybourne1620 you quote "impossible" as if the drugged out single mom with the 40 year old baby daddy (who was "abusive", but still got custody of the kids?) and no job or the drug dealing schizo living out of his car working in "logistics" have an honest chance of actually following this plan.

Caleb taking a page out of the Money Guy Playbook and having a laminated guide. Love it!!!
I really appreciate this show thanks so much I try to watch every time
Thank you so much ❤
The worst part is that he can afford his lifestyle.
I’m not in a rush to pay it off because it’s at 2%
He's my irl buddy and he went on the show to "scare him" into actually changing his habits. I can applaud him for it.
Caleb this show makes me really appreciate my life and my girlfriends budgeting skills. After every episode I tell her how thankful I am for her.
Replying to boost this comment.
Boost! Caleb seems to misunderstand the SAVE plan and how the interest works.
Using VIO, they have a better interest rate than sofi @@Calipicker
Whenever I would save more money, I told myself I had a new high score. ;)
@@adrienmerliss9927gamifying helps so much!

When the hammer meets a stone
Underrated comment right here lol😂
Oooh nice 👌
Stone, as someone who discovered their ADHD and autism in my 30s, after experiencing several episodes of autistic burnout without understanding what it was, the best advice I can give is get your finances in order. We MUST be equipped with a year+ emergency fund. Working when you just cannot handle anymore is soul-sucking. I went from relying on credit cards to stashing 50% of my take-home into investments and it feels like a weight off my shoulders to know I can stop working for a year and still be ok. Kudos to you for coming on here and making the sacrifices. I know you will be successful, and future you will be thankful.
Let’s goooo!! Hammer time with Financial audit!

My brain every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
They go to you good my guy
This is a good episode for me because I'm currently pursuing my own A+ certification so this is very helpful. Props to this guy for working his butt off to get his position, and for coming onto the show and recognizing he needed help managing his finances. I'm only 12 minutes in but he seems very upfront about his situation and bad habits, not acting dodgy or shady
10:00 He really pulled out the money guys move with the laminated paper! Lol
Hey Caleb
Watching from Kalamazoo. I tell all my friends at WMU and HCOB to check out your videos. We are so proud of you!!!!
I subscribed when you had less than 10k subscribers it’s amazing at how fast your channel grew
I loved the suggestion of envelope method in this video! I’ve known people who needed that method and it worked well for them.
ADHD can absolutely wreck someone's finances. And unfortunately, it's not as easy as just saying 'do better'. Treatment is paramount to get anything done.
Thanks to this channel I finally completely paid off my Student loan! Thank you Caleb!
Hell yes it’s Hammer day ❤❤❤
This dude is great.
I really hope we get another visit from this guest, im rooting for him and i want to see succeed❤❤❤
Stone is my buddy and he hates the ADHD impulse spending.
I also have ADHD and ban myself from anything fun to avoid it.
Stone seems like a cool dude. Rooting for him throughout his debt journey!
Was so nice to see someone who didn’t make an excuse every other second and fight the entire episode.
So happy when I refresh Caleb’s page and the new video pops up 🥰
Oh I just knew we were in for a doozy when he said his name is STONE
I love how there’s never a Segway to the sponsor it’s always just random “SAVING THAT MOOOOOONEYS” 😂😂😂
Love that he has a Discord channel for all the previous guests. That's a great idea.
Caleb, you are so inspiring ! Im 25 own a home with my husband, no debt besides the mortgage and I thought we were doing pretty well. Your videos make me want to do better ! I'm applying for more work as we speak listening to your videos as motivation!
