Thanks for having me on! Since being on the show I’ve been building up my emergency fund and working on spending a lot less at my store 😂 the plan is in full force! Can’t wait to update everyone!
Today I paid off my car loan! MY VERY LAST DEBT!!! I am officially debt free! ❤ Thanks, Caleb Hammer, for the inspiration to get me back on track after a 4 year debt free journey.
@WealthwiseCapitalvery sneaky cutting in here. Good advertising. I will ask readers to compare to vanguard and see if the cost of servicing the Investment is comparable. Maybe someone can tell us if so fi has an investment vehicle.
When the $15 is mine to begin with. I’m gonna go ahead and not give that $15 to someone else before I stop buying TCG’s. Lol if anything I’ll spend it on more TCG’s
They're in trouble. Married people divorce over financial "rifts". He's not even married yet and they already had a fight over the budget. now he goes home with this budget that I expect is more extreme than anything he proposed and fought with her about. Too bad they already started to merge their finances with the house and such because this will not end well. I wish them the best, but I don't think this is going to end well.
I’m confused….did he say he’s making her lunch but then he’s eating lunch out? Also, they’re bringing in almost 10k a month and yet Dad is paying for phone and gas? Come on now
Yeah. Personally. I would never pay my son that much money per month. Unitll he was married or had a child. Sure give him more benefits but 6500 a month. No way
As a local to the city his store is in and frequent it him and the other owner are great people. One of the best game stores in town also hope for their success!
The stones on this man to give his girlfriend/fiancee/future wife a cap on makeup spending but then spending who knows how much each month on “shiny cardboard” at his own store.
I agree! I think she doesn't have a clue what the debt means for her future. She won't be able to love her life in her 20s, she will be helping him get out of debt. No make-up, no vacations, no anything. If I were her after seeing this episode I would seriously rethink combining finances until marriage, and even then waiting until they both have a proven track record of controlling debt accumulation before getting married. This guy says 'oh I know, debt is terrible' in one breath and 'we needed new expensive pillows and $800 of cards' the next breath. His dad gives him a job and pays expenses, and he has still racked up $300k of debt in only a few years!!! I wish them the best, and hope he can change his ways.
As a women, let me just add a note on the make up. Yes it can be expensive and seen as non-necessary. But I think people misunderstand that makeup isn't just a "want" due to social pressures/perceptions and self confidence. If I don't wear makeup at work I get comments like I look tired, or un friendly, or "not professional". I think since it's the standard for women to wear makeup, it is expected. So it's more aligned to showering and doing your hair before work than it is to spending money on fancy clothes. So if you can budget 50$ a month on it, and have a huge impact on quality of life, and can even impact your professional career, i think it's faily neccessary. Just my thoughts based on my experience. I don't think the guest would say shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Isn't necessary.
@@julesporter9865 No offense but women constantly go on and on about how they're done conforming to society and done following the expectations yet I always here this excuse to justify buying hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of make-up.. Put your money where your mouth is and stop caring about society wanting you to wear makeup
This guy's probably going to get his finances together, because he's the only person I've ever seen on this show who has written down anything that was explained. All the others nodded their heads at a 45 degree angle and the eyes glazed over.
his rich daddy will bail him out, which is why he was ok with so much risk He grew up thinking that running a business was easy and is finding out that it isnt. This is typical rich kid shit. They start businesses that can't make a profit and use there own wealth to prop it up making them seem successful. I'm sure he things every poor person is choosing to be poor.
@@TGMisKillingTheMiddleClass I'm sure you think any person with rich parents is a douche..... The envy and anger about his "easy" life and privileges compared to your own is very palpable in your comment. He is atleast trying to get his own buisness started instead of solely relying on the job his dad provided. He doesn't excuse all of his mistakes and he seems pretty genuine. You literally just hate him cause he got it easier........ bitterness won't make it easier for you.
@@TGMisKillingTheMiddleClassdoesn’t that make you wonder either he never listen to his dad’s business advices or his dad’s business also offers bad advices. This guy basically has two business that just bleed money without substantial income. Only real, stable income he is getting is from his daddy it seems. I guess that’s one way to circumvent the yearly gift limit, hire your child and transfer fund and paying only payroll taxes while able to keep him on insurance pass age of 24. Question is… how popular is this kid at his dads work. I know I will never work for my brother’s company simply because his employees will likely make my life miserable.
This guy makes about 3x more a month than myself and he's broke. So many financial illiterate people in this country. Shocking to me everytime I watch one of these episodes.
You can't outwork poor nutrition with exercise. Same deal in the personal finance space. Income doesn't overcome poor spending habits. I also think high income can lull you into a sense of complacency. You think my choices don't matter because I get thousands of dollars next month. Like you, I was astounded when I saw couples with $300K annual income still struggling. White collar people also fraternize with white collar friends and the peer pressure is there chasing the appearance of wealth as opposed to really building it
Lifestyle inflation. People think that making more money justifies stupid spending but that’s far from the truth. Take advantage of that extra income and grow it. Hell if I had that much extra money I’d be maxing out my 401k and “gambling” on high profit index funds
@@dreamchaser5758 As the old saying goes, abs are made in the kitchen - not in the gym. To the same extent, you're not going to outwork a bad spending habit.
What's wild is that he's not even someone I'd consider financially illiterate. He works for his dad's accounting firm, so he should have the financial knowledge. It feels like he got wrapped up too much in reading through MTGFinance on reddit or crypto forums or something and thought he'd be able to blow up and get rich quick. Frankly I'm surprised that he's on here with his employment line as it could be a big way to scare away clients if they see this.
Truly sounds like a kid who grew up under the wings of his father and just doesn't feel the risks he is taking because he never felt real consequences.
I would love if you added up the total amount of interest that has been charged across all the accounts and see their reaction. It’s crazy how much is being taken from peoples’ accounts without them even realizing it.
This is a really great example of how having higher income doesn't necessarily solve debt problems. Lifestyle inflation is one of the most dangerous parts of American consumerism. Great work on this one, Caleb!
Thanks Caleb! Saved up for business taxes, paid off credit card, 2 month emergency fund, Roth IRA funded. Staring in the eyes of a scary student loan but feel more secure having these priorities taken care of! You’re awesome! Thanks to the guests so we can learn from them! 🎉
Your upload schedule is amazing…I barely have time to impulse purchase anything before I can watch another reminder episode for why I can’t impulse purchase - THANK YOU CALEB!❤
I’m going through a breakup so my rent doubled and me and the partner moved from Saint Louis to central Oregon together so I’m on my own when it comes to family and friends and stuff like that currently. I was always dumb with money and lived week to week since I was 17 and with the partner, 19 now. And in the past few months after finding your channel I’ve managed to put $3000 in an emergency fund. And my car just broke down and I really just want to thank you caleb. Your channel saved me
I am SO glad he brought up a “no questions asked” fund. My wife and I have one, it changes month to month based on our situation and other expenses but it makes our lives a lot easier if I can just write off X amount as already spent and she can use it for whatever she wants without worrying what I will think. Plus, it’s exhausting trying to keep up with every little purchase. “Why did you buy this?” “Are you really gonna use this?” It’s all about balance!
Agreed on this. Once we’ve paid all our needs, rent gas insurance food investments savings etc, im blowing every last penny afterwards. Gotta live a little!
Yep. When we got married and took Dave Ramsey’s class- it was post-debt encouraged to have a, basically, “husband fun money” and “wife fun money” where you account for the purchases to ensure you don’t go over budget, but the content of what is purchased has no limits.
Running a business, making purchases for yourself from the business and then paying w2 out of those proceeds is like the opposite of tax avoidance. This man is dedicated to paying the maximum tax possible.
Yup. I make videos on the side, as a paid hobby. I used my iPhone for years and got paid. Barely last year I spent $3000 cash for my first professional gear. It’s nice to know that the gear belongs to me and not the credit card company.
Yeah, I wouldn’t hire him or his employer ( daddy). Before I could be hired as a business manager for an accountancy firm , I had to pass a credit check. I wonder how this dude would do?
Coolest guy ever come to show, also most respectful one he’s not giving bullshit about their spendings and acknowledging what’s the way to get out from the debt. Hope you best bro
dang my husband and i make about the same monthly income (with no debt), and our “no questions asked” money is only $75. apparently i should be negotiating higher!!
I’m so glad Caleb mentioned how risky it is to go into anything legally binding (like a house) with someone you aren’t legally bonded to (aka marriage). Be careful who you choose to share finances with, peeps. It’s all fun and games until you find out how irresponsible with money that person is and now you’re going down with them. Also, if you’re dating and you’re living together, talk about finances and how you will pay the bills BEFORE you move in together!
Why is it more risky to share finances or jointly own a house with someone you aren't married to vs someone you are married to? It seems like you're saying the problem is getting into joint anything with someone financially irresponsible but I don't see how being married makes that less risky? If anything you're even more bound to them.
@@chrisstroud1915 When you’re married you have community property together. Community property laws can protect both parties from a huge financial loss if they divorce. No such laws exist when you’re unmarried, own a home together and have now ended the relationship.
@@chrisstroud1915Because when you are married and then get divorced, only the assets from the day of the marriage to the day of divorce will be split. If you aren't married and just do that with anyone, it will be a mess for the courts to figure out who gets what and who is responsible for what.
Yes, but please stop for a moment and think about where this line of thought is headed. We don't wanna end up in a situation where ppl equate both make up and cards to unnecessary spending. Cards are unnecessary, make up is necessary up to a reasonable level, those are the stances we need to end up with.
@@mistsofbabylon In theory there's nothing wrong with restating something for clarity and emphasis. However I did make an additional point about two kinds of conclusions that OPs line of thought could end up with and I stated which one I think we should lean towards.
@@IAmebAdger the problem is when you restate someone's point by saying "yes, but stop for a moment and think...." as though you are about to introduce an alternative line if thinking and schooling the OP on her rationale. @@mistsofbabylon "as though you are about to [unhelpful and arrogant behaviour]" That's not a given from my wording, but I don't blame you for expecting me to be toxic and patronising, seeing how that's par for the course with commenters on social media. I have been married 15 years. My husband and I have separate bank accounts. It is not for everyone but it works for us. With all the bills paid and no one racking up any debt, if one of us buys something, no one questions the other, unless it is a big purchase. It saves on a lot of fights in the marriage. I think couples nickel and diming each other brings a lot of strain to the relationship. Again, that’s just me. There are a lot of ways people run relationships.
30years together and this is a working method. We split responsibilities, share expenses and in today’s banking environment it is good not to have all your finances in one bank. My feelings. If one chooses to spend they should not have to feel as if they have to defend there decisions with there income .
We combine finances, but we are both good with money and generally on the same page, so there are no fights. I wouldn't even consider marrying someone who's bad with money.
I just love when rich daddy boys have zero concern in the world about racking up $20k in business debt on a business that makes virtually nothing. Must be nice
The fact that he seems fairly chill about charging personal stuff (i.e., his crypto BS) to his business card is wild to me. I really hope his accountant (aka his dad) didn't write that off as a business expense...
Caleb, please post a video of you paying off that furniture per the guidance in both your audits, with The Money Guys and Graham. I would love to see that 😂
@@bryguy1811The principle of a 0% loan is always take it. Even in his SoFi account, that $20k borrowed could turn into $500. Or he could pay it off immediately & get $0. Some people need simple. Not all of us do.
I really hope this guy turns it around. We believe in you!! I personally drive a 22 year old Camry and with proper maintenance it’s a great car. We are saving to pay our next used/new to us car in full. You did not need to buy new to get an awesome vehicle.
My 1st car was a 1997 corolla I bought in 2012 for 2k. Lasted me 7yrs and had over 500k miles on it before the repairs were too expensive for me. She was a beauty. Toyotas really do last a really long time. I'm in another paid off Toyota now.
i would say it depends on the used market itself. right now 10 year old camrys with 120-150k miles are 10-15k. and frankly no car is worth that at those miles and if you have that amount cash in hand your better off buying something in the 20-25k range with 20-30k miles on it pull out low interest loan of 10-15k at 2-3 hundred a month. you will be better off in the long run because buying any car with over 100k miles is pure luck on whether it last 2 months to 10 years you just dont know. so instead of spending 10k cash on a car that may not last long enough to save 10 more thousand dollars buy something that for sure if you take care off will be paid off by the time it hits 60-80k miles.
@@MollyPopper absolutely not there isnt a car on earth i would recommend someone pay 10k cash for at over 100k miles over buying a lease return 20-30k mile car for 20-25k. odds are you spend more on repairs in 5-6 years on that car than the cost of just borrowing 10k or even worse need a new car a year or two later and bam you wasted a dang near 50% down payment on junk. this is especially true if you drive an automatic which start to fail somewhere between 100k and 200k in most instances and cost 5-7k to replace. rule of thumb with buying a used car with high mileage never spend more than 2-5k
Im not a fan of saying interest was "stolen" from these folks because I feel like it it minimizes accountability. I always view interest as lighting money on fire. so to me, its more like "you lit $275 on fire this month"
Good point. However the interest rates are literally illegally high in other countries that care more about their citizens than capitalists. So, under the law of those countries, they literally illegally took the money from you. Which is stealing. Anything more than 12% interest is immoral. It’s morally if not legally stealing from you. Still you have to obey the laws. But try to get them changed as well, they are not inevitably like that. It’s whatever the people decide.
I think Caleb means it as you're stealing money from your future self, so you'll be poorer in the future. At least I'm pretty sure he wants it to include a lot of accountability.
@@M_SC Yeah I think the American people wouldn't benefit from more policy on credit card companies. If not that, then our tax dollars should be providing education on fiscal responsibility because many parents (especially from low socioeconomic situations), don't have the knowledge and/or time to teach it. I took out loans to go to college and ended up not being able to finish school because I couldn't get enough to finish (3 years and couldn't afford the last). You get a lot of scholarships that first year or two, but it gets harder to obtain them as you go on. I fucked myself not being able to get a degree and being saddled with debt. On top of that, at our orientation the college let multiple credit card companies and banks set up booths to sign us up as fresh 18 year olds. Shit is so predatory.
I personally don't think interest is lighting money on fire in all cases. Sometimes, a bit of 'money now' can be useful / important compared to 'money later' and, if it's a reasonable rate, you are paying for the privilege of accessing it early. Of course its problematic if you mistreat it or get taken advantage of, but paying a little bit of interest isn't always a bad thing.
I like how you can look at the guests he has on and immediately know that they blew some of there money on crypto or memestocks before they even start talking
Pretty sure he mentioned giving her 200 USD no questions asked or did I hear that wrong? Of course at some point above 200 questions should be asked, and so equality dictates that she should be asking him questions about the cards too. It's only healthy to keep asking each other questions by the way, I don't mean it as a negative thing. People here are always so fond of being negative and unconstructive.
His girlfriend should really be in the room. I can imagine him going home being like, "honey we need to talk" she hears the news that for two years she doesn't get to touch her own income outside of $100/month and then learns that he likely won't propose for at least two years (I didn't hear any comment about budgeting for a ring other than him saying it was a 'him problem' for why they aren't engaged now - so my guess would be ring money) and that a wedding definitely won't be happening outside a courthouse (unless family assists financially) and she may be less than excited. This is why combining finances like this is dangerous pre-marriage.
He does not need to go into debt for a ring. Buy something small and beautiful (maybe vintage) for cash. After he’s out of debt, maybe get her something really special for their fifth anniversary. The wedding should be low key too. It doesn’t have to be a huge theatrical production. Hell, it could be in their backyard and the reception could be a cookout with friends and family and music. It’s more about the people than the costumes and props.
I had the same thought! I am a little concerned for them because his (seeming) hesitancy on proposing + insanely strict budget + potential feelings of money being controlled = a bad situation and a messy breakup. She’s 22. I wouldn’t blame her for running.
Honestly, I'd run from this situation as a 22-year old too. Although I agree, you don't need to finance a super-expensive engagement ring or huge wedding, but if she's always had her "princess day" wedding in mind, this may be a deal breaker.
Neither can run because they bought a house together. Have little equity. Selling a house is expensive. Do Not Ever go into joint debt with someone you have no legal recourse against. It’s absolutely insane. I used to be a loan officer at a bank working with second mortgages. It is unbelievable how often this absolutely kills people’s finances.
Ignoring numbers doesn't make the change, it changes your position on what you can/can't afford. You're going to have a look at some point and it may as well be now before you go blind spending!
It's crazy to me that people don't talk to their serious SOs more regularly about money. My wife and I talk about our credit cards almost daily. We look over all out checking and credit cards weekly to make sure we are on budget and we look at our whole financial situation every month to see if we are on track, behind or can make additional payments.
It’s easily overlooked dude. As a 30 somethin year old I would never again get in a serious relationship with someone that doesn’t have the same financial mindset. I was married to someone and we never talked money and how we should spend and plan it. It’s not exactly taught and some learn the hard way.
This year I paid of an impossible albatross of $45,000 in credit card debit by selling the house and will never allow any card to get a balance. All my credit cards are paid each month and my day to day card is an Amex thats paid in full each month. Thank you for all you do!!!
I can relate on the card hobby. I need to sell and liquidate so I don't get caught holding the bag. That is the name of the game with sports cards. Caleb, you honestly can do an entire series on sports card/TCG people. The hobby is insanely inflated and filled with scammers. Shine the spotlight on it!

@mastershake8944where are these stats from lol. Looking at Experian's 2020 report, the average credit card balance of men and women has a difference of less than 200 dollars. She’s 22, this man’s going to get through her cards, part of his 2nd one and the relationship implodes from resentment, no marriage proposal but all the commitment and paying his debts off.
Hope she's ok with only getting $100 a month of her own paychecks! At 22, I'd be seeing these all as bright red flags! I hope she's on board with this all, and he's not just using her for help getting out of debt.
@SaturatedCat no, not at all. It just sounds like her dreams (which, I am making possibly-incorrect assumptions on, I know) may be getting put on hold (ring, wedding, honeymoon, etc...again, a lot of assumptions, I know) and at 22, that may be a deal-breaker
@SaturatedCat also, please dont get me wrong, I don't mean this guy IS a red flag - he seems like a good guy, I hope they can stick to the budget, get out of debt and live happily ever after and I wish them the very best - I'm just cynical and suspicious in my old age I guess 😆 I more meant that IF she's hoping for a big ring, lavish wedding and luxury honeymoon anytime real soon, without any help, that she MIGHT see these as red flags. Again, I was making some generous assumptions
@SaturatedCat honestly, I had a massive, very expensive wedding at 20 years old 😳 (my extended family is HUGE and my dad wanted to invite EVERYONE, and he paid, sooo...) and while it was a fairytale day, looking back, it wasn't worth it. I got remarried 2 years ago, had a courthouse wedding and an inexpensive ring and it was perfect! 🥰 Best of luck to you with your big day!!
@6:00 I agree with Caleb! It's very risky to combine finances and being both on a mortgage before marriage. It's super risky 😱🤦♀️My anxiety level sky rocketed... popped a Tums.
Me and my girlfriend bought in 2021 and still not married. It’s not risky if you do it right and I know plenty of people who’ve done it and all works out. Marriage is not required to buy a house! We’ve been together 7 years! We’ll probably get married at some point.
@@siqlegit I'm glad it's working for you and others you know right now, but legally it is a very risky decision. It can be hard to deal with the property as a couple divorcing, but when both your names are attached to the property and you're unmarried it can become an absolute nightmare because there's no protocol in place to divide the asset. I recently saw one horror story of a couple breaking up and the ex-girlfriend finding out that her former partner borrowed money against their house to start a business, so now she's on the hook for repayment of that loan despite never even being married to the guy or involved in his business. I'm not even a big proponent of marriage, but I think if you're going to start legally tying yourself to someone in that way you might as well get married and reap some of those benefits/protections.

I don't personally have a problem with earners limiting non-earners discretionary spending, but it's not appropriate to control the spending itself. Budget the discretionary spending, split it in a way you both agree about, then her portion is *hers.* she can use it however she wants. If you make a mistake that causes your budget to drop, limit *your* portion before theirs.
I think it’d be great for guests if Caleb had a list(even a chatgpt list) of meal prep foods to be able to give to people for information and ideas. Wouldn’t take long and for some people who never cook it’d be a huge help in how daunting cooking can feel sometimes

Having suffered lost by theft and by fire, I'm a fairly poor, working class contractor. I have ten credit cards that I use for 10 different categories of spending. They're paid off twice a month, on the 15th and the 1st. The reason I pay them off twice a month is because having a large balance on the cards hurts your credit and I have to pay some of them off twice a month because they get maxed out otherwise. The point of this is that credit cards can be incredible tools when it comes to organizing your expenditures and keeping track of how much you spend on a job, transportation, equipment, etc.. But that's how I use them in my 40s and 50s. When I started out in my 20s I was definitely NOT a credit card person. Anyways, I hope this post helps someone gain a little bit of perspective on the ups and downs of credit cards.

@@chrisstroud1915

I have been married 15 years. My husband and I have separate bank accounts. It is not for everyone but it works for us. With all the bills paid and no one racking up any debt, if one of us buys something, no one questions the other, unless it is a big purchase. It saves on a lot of fights in the marriage. I think couples nickel and diming each other brings a lot of strain to the relationship.

We combine finances, but we are both good with money and generally on the same page, so there are no fights. I wouldn't even consider marrying someone who's bad with money.

Im not a fan of saying interest was "stolen" from these folks because I feel like it it minimizes accountability. I always view interest as lighting money on fire. so to me, its more like "you lit $275 on fire this month"
Agree. At least if you eat out you get some sustenance from it. I think he is using the credit cards for points.

After he’s out of debt, maybe get her something really special for their fifth
anniversary.
He could go on a magical journey to a mountain of doom to find a ring... you don't know his plans guys!
@@papabear2515I don’t care about staying a baby; I need a 6500 a month income.
Yes, he's a child. Major problem with young adult men of today.

Yeah the card stuff is a series on its own. Love if you could do a deeper dive on it Caleb.
This year I paid of an impossible albatross of $45,000 in credit card debit by selling the house and will never allow any card to get a balance. All my credit cards are paid each month and my day to day card is an Amex thats paid in full each month. Thank you for all you do!!!
Hell yeah brother
Sold the house to pay debt... Tf
@@bigzicksaddioWhat’s confusing? You want him to refinance and get a worse rate to screw himself over more?
I can relate on the card hobby. I need to sell and liquidate so I don't get caught holding the bag. That is the name of the game with sports cards. Caleb, you honestly can do an entire series on sports card/TCG people. The hobby is insanely inflated and filled with scammers. Shine the spotlight on it!
For sure! Pokémon as a kid, Goddess Story last year. Pull rate was horrible though, so I stopped it, but it can be very addictive😅
I’m waiting decades before I bust out and sell my sealed collection 😅
@@AndrewMorgan but why? You know how much 1990's card are worth right? If they are modern sealed.. those cards are being over produced MORE than the 1990's. The market will eventually catch up.
I went to an estate sale, the family said to sell everything, there was about 5k old pokemon cards english and Japanese from the 90s-early 00s i gpt the whole lot for 200$ and i have about 10k from those cards if i sold right now, but i am going hold onto them
@@zacknelson8918Those cards are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Most of the people willing to spend that much on cards are trying to flip them for a profit, not collect them.
I am not going to tell you to sell, but ask yourself if that stack of cards is bringing you more happiness then 10k would.
Honestly it's crazy how many people need interventions to know they shouldn't spend money on a card that has 8k on it that they can't pay
I talk to people about credit card debt and they think “it’s a women” and have a stereotyped idea of who’s in debt- I love how you have a lot of different men (and women) and the diversity of people on this channel lately in credit card debt- shows that consumer debt does not discriminate!!!
True it does not discriminate, but the overwhelming majority of both
Consumer and student debt is held by women.
@@The_Man_WeldingInteresting! I did not know this!
@The_Man_Welding I wonder if this is because of the pay gap?? Or maybe the amount of products we consume??
@mastershake8944where are these stats from lol. Looking at Experian's 2020 report, the average credit card balance of men and women has a difference of less than 200 dollars. The Federal Reserve has a "FEDS Notes" post from 2018 that goes into detail on the available data and analysis on what variables could be statistically significant.

Silent partner is the phrase I think he was looking for
His money speaks loud enough for him lol
Not a fan of how he talks about his girlfriend. “I got her into therapy,” “I gave her a spending allowance but makeup isn’t a need.” I’d be careful about continuing to merge finances with this guy.

Absolutely worth getting this lad back for one of the 'Where are they now?' episodes.
I recently found you and because of you I looked at my finances and created a budget. I’m able to pay off my car loan in 6 months from now and start attacking my student loan debt after the car is payed off. I don’t use credit cards so I don’t have and credit card debt. Thank you so much for all you do and thank you to everyone that comes on your channel as they have helped me. I’m 23 currently and I’ll be debt free within a few years.

She’s 22, this man’s going to get through her cards, part of his 2nd one and the relationship implodes from resentment, no marriage proposal but all the commitment and paying his debts off.
That's why you don't combine finances before you're married
His comment, "I do it cause I love her." - melted my heart.
Caleb respects love ❤️. Super sweet
@@SaturatedCat you as well! 😀
Expensive ring and big wedding all sounds like a waste.
@6:00 I agree with Caleb! It's very risky to combine finances and being both on a mortgage before marriage. It's super risky 😱🤦♀️My anxiety level sky rocketed... popped a Tums.
and they live together before marriage. Also not a smart move
Me and my girlfriend bought in 2021 and still not married. It’s not risky if you do it right and I know plenty of people who’ve done it and all works out. Marriage is not required to buy a house! We’ve been together 7 years! We’ll probably get married at some point.
And the GF is only 22 woof
Every morning, I throw Caleb Hammer on while I get ready for work and on my way into work. To remind myself to spend frugaly and to review my monthly spending/earnings. Love this!
I admit it. You have possibly the best show on RUclips
Arguably the very best!
These vids are amazing, it makes you think about some of the things you do and the importance of a budget. I cut out presents for birthdays and eating out. The heck with social norms
Did anyone else get rubbed the wrong way about how he seems to easily restrict his GFs over spending on makeup but dropped $800 on cards.
Overspending isn’t great on both sides but ahhh… lol 👀👀👀👀👀
See, he sees value in his interests but doesn’t respect hers. How likely is her boutique mascara likely to send them into collections? A little reciprocity, my dude.
It is utterly ridiculous. Someone upthread even commented she was using him. They both are spendthrifts. Makeup is not a necessity but neither is Yu-Gi-Oh cards
People are probably better off just looking up "easy meal prep" on RUclips. No offense to Caleb, but there are plenty of much more knowledge people on that topic
Check out Struggle Meals with Frankie Celenza. I’ll admit there’s a ton of recipes I haven’t tried, but Frankie does a good job of reframing mindset when cooking affordable meals.
Caleb has experts do the meal prep plans that meet adult nutritional requirements.

Keep your finances separate until marriage! Even then separate checking and conjoined savings seems to be what works best.
On what planet?
Combined finances are a clear sign of combined goals and long term success

I would love if Caleb did a show like Ramsey where he takes calls. I have questions but dont want to go all the way to austin lol
Weekly Livestream maybe?
If he did it in addition too. I like that people actually come in and talk.
I was thinking of doing a weekly twitch stream where I help those who want some direction (and can't get on Caleb's show), whether it's as simple as asking if their budget makes sense for their situation or as complicated as a full audit.
I think a lot of these people should talk to their doctor about adult ADHD. I had uncontrollable spending until I got on meds now I only buy necessities
