Can’t believe this ain’t in the movie. This can still change the world if you let it ❤
This song is sooo underrated! ‘80s gold!
heavenly father.. thank you for the nineteen 80s!!!!
This song is turning 40 this year but man does it sound fresh and timeless.
I don't understand why this song did not get more air play back in the day it's one of my favorite 80's songs!!!
It was on MTV constantly in 1984.
@@E.C.2 the reject that made that comment was probably not even born in 1984.
Radio sucked back in the 1980s, IN FACT I seldom listened to it!! THIS SONG, played a lot of MTV back in the days when they actually played music videos instead of the garbage they have now!! I had the 45 rpm of this song, and recorded it to cassette tape to play in my car!! Trust me in the 1980s, anybody worth their weight OWNED a cassette deck or five, and your mixed tapes WERE your life!! My tape collection ran through those decks almost constantly, because there was nothing on the radio ANYBODY would want to actually listen too!! And you can only listen to Micheal Jackson's Thiller 92 times in an hour, before you want to drag the D.J. out into the street and slap him silly!!!! At least that is how the local radio stations were around here, and I know it is a bit of an exaggeration, BUT I was working at a pizza shop in 1984, and they literally played Thriller, 10 times in a single hour!!
Like DUDE there are other bands out there to listen to, and I have nothing against Micheal or Thriller, BUT here it is 2023 and I still never want to hear that song ever again!!! And we had a lot of other great bands like Billy Ocean, Ray Parker Junior, Prince, David Bowie, Elton John, Chaka Khan, Devo, and The Hooters. We also had great heavy metal bands, like Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, and Judas Priest....but local D.J.s would get stuck playing ONE SONG, and that is all you heard!!! And I live in Upstate New York, where you'd think a state as liberal as mine is, we'd have more heavy metal stations, but NO!!!! It wasn't until the late 1990s that we could hear Scorpions on the radio as "classic music"!!!
@gregrak9389 in all fairness, I'm 70 and was deep into the music of Eddy Grant back then. I remember that song " Romancing the Stone" being played ,however can't recall on what channels, etc. Even back then music was highly regulated and sadly many talented artists weren't given the esposure deserving .
Actually, this song did get a lot of airplay on both MTV (back when the main channel actually played videos) and on radio as the lead off single to movie soundtrack by the same name. Originally released by ICE Records internationally and distributed in the US on CBS'es (now Sony) Portrait Records label.
Back here in 2024🙏🔥
I don't understand why Romancing the Stone isn't played more than Electric Avenue 😕
Both are great songs!!! Takes me back!!
100% right. I think this one is better!
Romancing the Stone is a billion times better than Electric Avenue.
Absolutely LOVE this song💖
Pure 🔥
Parece tema de filme top
Four decades ago this rap/reggae tune appeared on the scene. It was just as appealing as the movie that it came from!
Eddy is an artist. Even his pop songs (like this) are good.
A lot of memories attached with this song.A Sony Walkman , a sports bicycle, long muddy village roads......Precious days that are gone forever....
eddie grant was the first artist after abba that I listened to every single day on the old fashioned cassette tapes for one whole year. I played it on my small tape recorder when I woke up at six am; played it before going to class; played it after class; then one before bed time. I was 9 years old then. 1981.
Cool. Why did you wake up at 6:00 AM as a child, though?
@@BilisNegra lmao
@@BilisNegraKids are made to go to school by 7 or 8AM. Or at least they used to be
@@trashyraccoon2615 I remember my start time for my elementary school was 8:30 am.

I’m romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night & every day gonna love the hurtin’ away
I’m romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night & every day gonna love the hurtin’ away
Tonight, tonight I’m falling where the peaceful water flows
Where the unicorns the last one at the water hole
I have found a love so precious, like an emerald so bold
It’s a firelight escaping from the jewelers hold
I’m romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night and every day gonna love the hurtin’ away
I’m romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night and every day gonna love the hurtin’ away
Oh and in the heat of rapture when I feel the cold winds blow
Through the broken glass, I’ll see at last the sweet desire in you
I will climb up my pulpit and I’ll preach a sermon, you
On the mountain roads, in Harlem, feel my jewelers hold
I’m romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night and every day gonna love the hurtin’ away
I’m romancing the stone, never leaving your poor heart alone
Every night and every day gonna love the hurtin’ away

I got it from iTunes for about one month and they removed it, I was really upset, 😢
56 and still into it.
Truly wild.
Certainly DOES have a certain vibe to it that one finds in a LOTTA synth wave or new wave music 🎶 from the 80s❤️🧡💛💚💙
RUclips is the only place to find this rare song 😃👍
You can’t even get it on iTunes 🤬🤬🤬😡😡
